Been with talktalk over 5yrs. And I cancelled my contract with them because they told me they wud give me a better deal. And my payment would go down. But guess wat it went up. So I tried to cancel it .I got told I would have to give them 30 days notice which I did. But then I got another bill saying I owed more money.. But they sent me a letter saying my contract had been cancelled and I also got two e.Mails conferming it had been cancelled . So I stopped the direct debit . Then I phoned talktalk and ask why was I reciving these bill and the told me I hadnt cancelled.. I wrote a letter and the told me there was an issue that they would resolve it within 72 hours... Butguess wat no reply .So I phoned again and again on both accasions I was told I had to give them another 30days notic... Witch I refuised to do caz I had already gave them 30 day ... My experience with the advisors who I was talking to was very upsetting.. They tried to call me a lier on several ocassions wich I started to cry at this.. Cause I suffer with depression and this whole thing with talktalk got me so down.. I wrote another letter to head office and they phoned me back. The lady who phone me said that I hadnt recived any emails or cancelation letters because they dont do that and there was nothink on my records show that they had sent me these.. But I have the proof... Again... So realy she called me a lier again .. The bills came to 142.00 pounds .. I was told out of good gesture the they would waive the 100 pound I said I would pay the 42 but I would take this matter further... Then to my amazment I got told off her if I took it further that I would have to pay the 142.00, so to me that is a threat... Tyvm talktalk for the lovley threats and calling me a lier.. My step dad has been with talktalk for year to.He was that descusted on how I had been treat .. That he wrote a letter with a copy of my cancelasion letter in with... He is so descusted he is also cancelling his contract with them now... So plzzzzz any one out there who reads this just please be awear whitch company you go with...

Talk talk is inclined to make profit any way necessary, even at the expense of thier customers. The 3 months we had an account with Talk Talk was nothing but problems. They set up a mobile account in my partners name without his consent and then tried to bill him for the duration even though we told them we never wanted it repeatedly. Then when we told them we were leaving our address and wanted nothing more to do with Talk Talk they still tried to bill us for the accounts and when we disputed this they initially agreed to our request then gave the run around for 3 weeks with varying attitude from curt/rude/dismissive to apologetic/ helpful to completely useless. I spent about 7hours just sat on hold/waiting for someone to 'read the case notes' or ask someone. While some were helpful the majority were useless and felt like they were playing 'hot potato' as none really wanted to take ownership of our complaint and with some advisors their accent was so thick we could barely understand them. 'Managers' taking over the call only to insist they 'callback tomorrow' on whatever number you like...then nothing. We are disgusted with how TalkTalk treat their customers and are actively discouraging our friends/family/neighbours/business acquaintances from doing any business with them unless they want fraudulent accounts, overdraft fess, and nothing but excuses, fob offs and feckless infuriating 'managers'.

Talk talk perhaps has the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. I signed up with them 1 year and a half ago, and the service has always been intermittent or poor. The real fun starts when you try to leave Talk Talk. Their entire business model is designed around preventing customers from leaving at all costs. They do this by making it impossible for you to leave them. I've tried 3 emails, the online service, and now totalling 6 phone calls, all of which have to go through a automated voice recognition computer system first, to speak to someone in india who barely speaks english and has a very noisy background. They will lie to you and tell you literally anything to avoid you from leaving. For example, the call to the most recent one I requested the direct number for cancellations (it turns out, they just give you the generic number anyway) but despite this, the operator on the end refused to give me this number until I had passed the checks that I was actually a Talk Talk customer. Leaving this company is basically like trying to bargain your way out of hell.

I am a legacy customer from an earlier Tiscali contract. When Talk Talk took over they said, "either you place your phone business with us or we will increase the cost of your Broadband" by 40%, it turned out. I spend £1000 p.a. on phone so was reluctant to give them the phone biz, faced with threats of this kind. But we kept the BB because we needed the old Tiscali email address which we were sure we'd lose if we moved BB provider. So now after 1.5 years of paying £25 pm for rubbish service, I have now spent 4 months trying to terminate the contract. My theory: they've sold the contract termination part of the business to some call center operator and the staff there will rather die than let a customer go, no doubt all for some peanuts commission for every contract closure they avert. Great business model - going to try it myself. Peace ... not

This company has the worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. Things go wrong with services and bills quite often and the customer service staff have no authority to put them right. You spend hours on the phone trying to get problems escalated to a manager, which is not easy. They also basically treat their customers with contempt. They agree a price then three months later put up the price, so your contracted price isn't worth the paper its written on. They'll tell you its all in the Ts&Cs but they won't mention this on the phone when you sign up. This isn't quite fraudulent but its deceptive and definitely sharp practice. Even when everything is working, the speed is at best average and prone to intermittent short periods of interruption and if ever there is a genuine line fault you can forget having it fixed within 7 days. They'll argue its anyone's fault but there own and will never escalate it to an engineer until you can prove you have a PhD in telecomunications. My advice is don't go near this company.

So, after my partner has suffered long periods of lack of accessability to her NEW email, whilst my email (OLD STYLE) has functioned correctly, Now I cant get into mine and hers works fine!
The Changes introduced have been a disaster, without proper testing (Why should paying customers have to do the testing for these vital connections??)

Will move my accounts as soon as contract finishes, I cant cope with the lack of competence and availability of information.

Reading this thread it seems to me that the advice Talk Talk give is that our computers are changing settings (Ports and the like?) So, am I being sabotaged by my own computer?. I doubt it. This kind of thing happens a minimum once a year, and it goes away (accounts finally being readable) after some days. Does my computer self heal?

No recompense offered, by the way, even though service not received and no reply from the C E O`s desk either. Discraceful.

Easily the worst possible service for E-Mail, with no interest in individual problems, they are in a numbers game and they promote for new customers all the time instead of spending the money on good technical and support staff ... FORGET THEM!

I have endured 4 years of utter misery (I know, more fool me) at the hands of TalkTalk and have nothing positive to say about their broadband service. It appears that the company has no regard for rural broadband customers and I ended up with download speeds as low as 0.03 Mbps and regular disconnections. I have wasted around 50-60 hours on the phone to technical support, never the same person twice and they were completely unhelpful. I wrote numerous letters of complaint that were never acted upon and more often than not ignored. What they tried to do, despite several engineer visits form TalkTalk & Open Reach, was to cleverly try to blame each other, but TalkTalk never showed any willingness to address the issues. Ofcom didn't want to know because ironically, the problems had gone on for more than 8 months! The day I transferred to PlusNet the download speed shot up to 2Mbps, the maximum for my phone line. I couldn't recommend TalkTalk broadband to anybody. They are a really shocking company with the worst customer service that I have ever encountered.

I have been with talktalk for 1 month. The speed is good 36mbs compared with advertised up to 38 and reliable so far.

The tech back up is not as knowledgeable as it should be but very willing to try and help. They do not know the spec of the supplied router, important for me when deciding when to get their package. In fact it is not too bad if far more difficult to manage than my previous Netgear ADSL router (it's a Talktalk specific Hauwei and feels like it's built down to a price not up to a quality)>

They failed to give me all the promised introductory discounts but a quick call to their customer support sorted it out without too much difficulty.

I opted for talk talk after I phoned around to find who could give us the quickest, most reliable internet. Talk talk said that they could give us fibre with download speeds of up to 17 mbs - they were the only one that could do this so chose to go with them( mistake one!!!)
At the start of December the phone line was installed and wouldn't work!! ,we had to then wait until they eventually after a month "fixed " the line ( crackling with lots of white noise) . Surprise, surprise the Internet didn't work either!! Since then we have had between 20-30 engineers out both from BT open zone and talk talk who alternately blame each other for the Internet not working. After 6 months the "manager" from talk talk said that we should never been sold fibre as this wasn't even available in our area( I've been paying for fibre for the entire time!!). The Internet is running at speeds of on average 0.02-0.5 mbs, mostly doesn't work and the phone is very temperamental - usually not working at all for several hours a day. Talk talk employees (with very very poor English ) apologise and constantly say that they will fix the problem but never actually do anything. I have just come off the phone after spending over 2 hours being passed from one person to another and been promised a return call within 1/2 hour from a senior manager( still waiting ) .
This truly is the worst company I have ever dealt with and do not deserve to be still in business- DO NOT GET THE INTERNET OF THiS COMPANY

Steer clear of this terrible company. I have had broadband issues for almost 10 months, they have tried to charge me for not being in when openreach have been to my house, not true, no one came, three days leave for nothing. Don't be fooled when you get told they are a manager and there to deal with you, "Don't call the call centre because I am assigned to the case now and you will have to go through all the procedures again Three weeks of phone calls asking if broadband has improved, they arrange to call back 10 days later and again don't call the centre then, nothing. This happened twice. When you go to claim compensation or tell them I still have no internet you get "sorry madam but you didn't call for a month so we thought it was resolved" another trick they tell you they are managers and fob you off with any story saying the next step will be a HCO decision. 2 months later still no internet and still not resolved. When I asked them to let me leave my contract they refuse saying I've signed up for 12 months unbeknown to me and will have to pay to leave. Avoid this provider they are a shambles.

first of all, our box was a month and a half late. we were supposed to get free gifts with our box - that never turned up. the broadband cuts off on an evening and is really slow.

called up today to switch my internet over to a new house we're moving to, the conditions to change the address is to be locked into another 24 month contract!!! which i'm absolutely having none of, to get out of my contract is also a further £150 charge.

completely ridiculous, we're paying off the charge and never going back. completely rubbish company, DONT BE FOOLED BY FREE GIFTS AND HALF PRICE LINE RENTAL! we only got half price for 6 months and now we're paying £40 a month for our internet - could have bought an iPad on finance with unlimited internet for that. total rip off.

Avoid at all costs! Their prices may appear to be a good deal but service is appalling and if anything goes wrong it is IMPOSSIBLE to get through to the right person to fix it.

I've had no internet for 3 weeks, I've called up every day this week and been told each time i'll hear back "tomorrow". Yesterday i made a complaint and was told somebody would call me back at 7pm. They didn't. AND when i called there was no record of the 2 hour conversation i'd had with them earlier that day.

    Do NOT use these guys!!!

Possibly the worst broadband and customer service you will ever experience. I've had intermittent connection throughout my whole contract, but in the last month it's been so bad I've had 3 engineers on site and today I have no broadband and my phone line is dead. Nothing can be done obviously right away, so guessing they are going to send yet another engineer in the next few days. A waste of waiting half a day to have them come over and not resolve the problem. Believe the bad reviews on here. Do not opt for Talk Talk.

Although Talk Talk will bend over backwards to try to help sort out the problem, nothing ever seems to get sorted. I don't know if this is because Customer Services is based in India or not, but I am always speaking to an Indian on the phone!!!

The broadband is fine. NEVER take on the phone from Talk Talk. I cannot even make any calls out and there is the most awful noise on the line, I got through once they tested line and said all ok, then I said it is not so they started to tell me to get a screwdriver and undo the input or something, I am not technical and did not understand or want to do this myself as I know it can be dangerous and if I had done anything wrong it would be my fault. So they then asked for £60 for an engineer to come out. I am left nearly a month later with a phone I cannot hear anyone when they call and I cannot make any phone calls out. I CANNOT WAIT TO END THE CONTRACT AND WILL NEVER TOUCH TALK TALK AGAIN. They send a letter asking me to call them oh well I would love to if I could use the phone

I absolutely hate everything about Talk Talk and I wish I had never heard of them. Every month they take more money from you and charge you for things that you have never ordered. The internet speed is rubbish, the You View Box has never worked and is no longer even plugged in. Trying to talk to customer services online is a complete waste of time. God I just want to get out of this contract but even that would turn into another nightmare and a hefty fine no doubt. Never had any of these problems when it was AOL. I just want them out of my life.

Have been a customer of AOL for 20+ years but now TalkTalk has taken over AOL and I have just received my first bill (more expensive than AOL). Speed for ADSL broadband was far slower than with AOL I measured 7.5 which TalkTalk say is an acceptable speed. Have asked for a MAC code but TalkTalk so far is just talking and talking from somewhere in South Africa.

The above rating is as low as I can put on here. Minus stars are needed for the true score!!
Since 21st January, Virgin Media (who were great by the way) dropped all non-cable customers. I was transferred to TalkTalk. Since that date I have had very slow and intermittent internet. I have lost count of the number of calls I've made to 150, all to no avail. Two engineers have visited and both said there is a problem with the server at Folkestone Exchange. An independent engineer said it's simply overloaded and cant cope. I have given them until Monday 8th to sort it out - then it's Goodbye & Good Riddance to what must be the most inefficient company I have ever known.
    Absolutely ? useless!!!!

I received very poor customer service and loyalty retention from Talk Talk today, after contacting them and requesting my MAC code to transfer to another provider due to slow broadband service that was cutting out and requiring us to restart our router and our smart TV several times a day.

I was offered deals that weren't comparable or just as cheap as other providers, and Talk Talk attempted to get me to resighn another 18month of bad service and bad value for money.

Upon making a complaint, the customer service provider attempted to transfer to the 'loyalty' dept to downgrade my package and renew my contract, which I catgeorically confirmed I will not be signing a nwe contract with Talk Talk.

Talk Talk has made no genuine attempt to resolve issues, and only tried to waste more of my time when I had already wasted more than 2 hours of my time with calls today as as result of their poor customer service when asking a simple question to receive my mac code.

I've just switched to talk talk and believe me it's the worst decision I've ever made. I still have no Broadband and they seem to be totally incapable of getting me connected. Their customer service is quite frankly the worst I have ever encountered, no one is capable of diverting from a pre printed script if I ask a reasonable question they just keep repeating the script or passing me on to someone else (i have just spent over 2 hours on the phone this morning getting passed about and got nowhere) Their inability to provide a service is shocking and why Ofcom still allows them to trade as a service provider considering the amount of dissatisfied customers is astounding. DO NOT be tempted with promises made by talk talk. As the saying goes at least Dick Turpin had the courtesy to wear a mask when he was robbing people.

I have been having issues with Talk Talk for around 2 to 3 months now after going wireless with them a few months earlier. Things started off well but I have never dealt with a company who are so in-adequate in delivering the service that you pay for! You are constantly past from pillar to post with them and customer service continually ask the same questions even though you have reported the issue previously. The never seem to grasp the issue and keep you waiting and waiting on the telephone while they do next to nothing and eventually get you to turn of your router or say they'll get BT Openreach to look into things. For the past few weeks I cannot connect on my PC to the internet, my Sky on demand can't get anything, my niece's laptop and kindle won't connect. Now to me there's either an issue with the line, the router or the wireless connection in general. Talk Talk don't care and after all the back and forth phone calls with them I've given up the ghost with them and will go back to BT. If anyone goes to Talk Talk trust me you're a fool as they are the worst experience I have ever had in terms of service, customer service, support and more. Avoid them like the plague!

I agree with everything recorded here, by far the worst bunch of incompetents it's ever been my misfortune to meet. I have neither space nor time to log the appalling service I've been given. If they'd spent as much time trying to sort out my issues as they spent sending me letters, texts and emails about my bill (on an almost daily basis) it could possibly have been sorted out. They even told me to take my Tablet back to the shop as it was obviously faulty! When I said I was switching, the first thing they discussed was the bill, followed by did I want to upgrade my package, followed by it wouldn't make any difference if I did switch because the problem was with the phone line! I pulled the plug on them after 18 pointless, time wasting months. Never again, I'd sooner chew my face off. Don't go near them, that's my advice! There's plenty of competition out there but they don't seem to understand the point of good customer service.

so it started about 3 months ago about 2 days before i moved into my new flat, i was looking around for new furniture in my town and there is a talk talk rep stopped me and asked me if i will sign up to talk talk so i signed up and there was a deal, and hey i thought what the worst could happen, they said i wont pay for the first 30 days when my broadband goes live, brilliant i thought. 18 days later i get bloody billed on the spot with bloody hidden charges, not including the postage of the router, then they say i would have an estimated speed of 7-12mbps, nope wrong again u crappy piece of work, i barely scrape 1mbps. you stupid company. once my contracts end, i am so gonna change to another company. even if i have to pay the rest of the contract so i can change. talk talk dont deserve a bloody single star

This review is going to be from a stand point of a technology aware person. I'm a designer/web developer and I am aware of networking technologies. First things first, our network is throttled. The speed is constantly hitting a 2Mbps sealing. I am not even getting 1/3 of the promised speed. No matter if it's a wired or wireless connection. B, G or N connection type all show the same results.

Whenever I call them to discuss this issue, I am faced with an Indian person who speaks extremely broken English. They force me to follow a prewritten script that's set out to waste half an hour of my life and also involves restarting my router half a dozen times. No matter how many times I call them, it never changes. If you have any logical thinking, you probably have tried restarting your router before you even make the call. I guess people who have designed this way of dealing with customers are lacking this so called logical thinking. After the call, we "mystically" get an additional 1Mbps speed bump for a few days and then it starts all over again.

Interestingly enough, when we finally decided to cancel our contract, we were greeted by an Englishman who was not only helpful but also offered a million other equally useless services before actually doing what was asked in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I come from another country and English is not my first language. Instinctively this kind of a staff placement makes me think it's a set-up and people who work with cancelations are there just to hold this nightmare together like a brick wall.

Be advised and never ever chose TalkTalk.

Talk talk are the worst company I've ever tried to use. 3 days of calls and still I can't even get a reason as to why there is a problem with my order for a new line. None of the staff are trained nor can they speak/understand the English language at all. Forgive me for saying but if you work for a call centre with customers based in the UK basic communication skills are a must! I have been told 5 different things by untrained staff one of which told me everything was fine and I would be connected on the 15th of June. I had to tell him there was a problem with the order to which his reply was to put me on hold for another 10 mins just to let mr know what I'd already been told earlier that day! what an absolute joke the company is they should be ashamed at the poor level of customer service that portrays who they are. it's disgraceful. you now could not pay me to take up Internet with them as all I can see the future holds is frustration and a huge headache god forbid anything were ever to go wrong with my service I'd be stuck with no internet forever by the looks of things! Sorry about the rant but I have wasted hours of my life calling this awful company I felt I needed to share my experience. I never write reviews but I need to share this with others so they don't waste their life like I just have!!!

Happy customer with AOL for 15+yrs, no problems really. Talk talk took over billing recently, lost my secure account details, blamed me for not paying my direct debit. Spoke to some robotic "far away difficult to understand" customer services teams for probably over 3hrs on numerous calls apart from my bank who hadn't caused the problem. They agreed to resolve & compensate, then few weeks later automatically cut my service off in error for non-payment so had to waste more time. You get told different things from different managers. Absolutely awful company to deal with, avoid.

    Don't upgrade to fibre.

I was reasonably happy with TT with regular broadband for a year or more. I upgraded to fibre and since then I have been completely without internet of any kind on that line.

I paid for an upgrade and TT unilaterally withdrew all internet services while taking my money.

    TT will not listen.

TT does not respond to my calls

TT has no interest in me.

Do not ever upgrade using this company.

Customer service hopeless. Even after telling the rep I was sitting with fractured ribs I could get NO service after trying solidlyfor two hours. Needless to0 say we we will be getting a MAC number and moving to a service which does talk and provide service.

I have been with AOL since around 1994 and apart from the odd glitch I was very happy with their service. However, since Talk Talk took over the service has gone from bad to worse to appalling. I am paying £20 a month for this rubbish. I don't know how they are getting away with providing this pathetic excuse for a service. If there was a prize for 'Super SLOW Broadband' they would top the list every time. I'm off to pastures new when I can actually find a decent company. Looking at the reviews though, they all seem just as bad!! However, if you are thinking of joining Talk Talk think again, they are hopeless beyond belief. If I could give a minus rating for each category I would!!!
