From the moment I signed up to a one-year contract I knew I had made a mistake. Text messages and emails just kept coming "reminding" me that an engineer would visit to fit a new socket. Then, once up and running the connection kept dropping out.. Even with their tech support going around and around in circles trying to convince me that the problem had been solved, the connection kept dropping out for the entire contract term.

I tried to inform them of a change of address, and the call centre staff didn't seem to understand the concept of moving home.

Cancelling your broadband at the end of the contract?? Think again! Over three hours on multiple calls and still only spoke to one person who tried to transfer me to someone else, who promptly hung up. Sent two emails to their "concerns" email and ended up sending an abrupt email to the CEO Tristia Harrison. No idea if they ever got them - never got a reply, but it seems that my only option is to cancel the Direct Debit after the 12 months of payments and I'm clear of the contract.

    Absolutely awful!

Trying to call the customer service - automated hang-up or call back later. Sometimes robot says you can only proceed if you are vunerable and already regisered and directs you back to the website.

Tried typing issue into the website - the advice is generic and goes arund in a loop - it doesn't actully get anywhere.

Internet has been tripping out - broadband speed slow or just stops affecting everything. I got through weeks ago to complain about it and the woman on the line, though pleasant, said no - no problem. Everything is working. It clearly isn't.

Apart from the inconvenience, many applications require ongoing live connection - such as banking. Loss of connection resets everything and you lose what you did/saw.

If I could break the contract, I would. Unfortunately, they offer in their literature that they provide 'up to' so-and-so speed, but are not contractually required to actually provide it or even answer the phone when they don't.

IT is a system of automation so it is increasingly lazy for bad service of of companies to keep pointing to Cov-19 as their excuse as to why they are not fulfilling their requirement when they are still receiving money in full.

In fact, the lack of service is unjustifiable. Awful - truly awful. I may look tobreak this contract and buy a dedicated line because Talk Talk cannot be trusted

No idea how broadband speed is because I had to cancel from the offset!!
re-arranged schedule to wait in for a setup engineer. All welcome email arrived & no contact at all to say there was a problem- then see in account their system rejected my order- for no reason, without prior info!!! Grr
The chat BOT can’t explain why- I stay on crsp-chat over 1/2 hour, then complaint BOT anotger 1/2 hour- still no reasonable explanation or suitable apology or solution.
Cancelled immediately- bad customer service from the start can only be a bad sign fir future service.
Bad bad experience- Total waste of my time & energy

Very poor customer service. Couldn’t speak to anyone, had to communicate by text. Everything seams geared to making their input minimal and the customer has to continually chase them to respond.

I will never never use Talk Talk again once current contract is up. Customer service (what a joke that name is!) seems to be designed in the hope the customer will give up. They managed to swap our number with someone else's when allegedly upgrading us to fibre broadband. This took numerous phone calls to sort and now they have not applied the £20 compensation promised and we are still not connected to fibre broadband.

Here we are on the run up to Christmas again and this normally poor service becomes abysmal again, with the extra demand. The company does not invest enough to make its service work properly, it is criminal!
Use anyone, pay any price, but avoid TalkTalk.

    Utterly inept company,
We called talk talk to report a broadband fault. It took half an hour to pursuade them to talk to me as they were determined it was not my account despite my name being on the bills.
Eventually they agree there is a fault on the line and I wait 10 days for an engineer to appear.
The engineer is then sent to my old address which luckily is only 5 miles away, rather than to the billing address.
The engineer was very polite and helpful but diagnoses exactly the same fault that has already been identified and now I have to wait for a BT Openreach engineer to arrive instead. Talk talk then spend 5 minutes explaining how they are going to charge me £55 if the Openreach engineer does not find a fault, or if I miss the appointment, no apologies for wasting my time by making me wait in for a day for an engineer they knew would never fix the problems.
They really are the very definition of corporate ineptitude, use them at your peril.

I have been with talk talk for a good 4 years now, I have broadband, telephone and tv through them. Recently have had endless problems with the Sky channels and all other internet channels, so I contacted them and went through all the diagnostic testing etc... What is very frustrating is speaking to someone whose English is poor, who reads from a script on their computer and who are very unhelpful! After doing all the diagnostic tests, it finally started to work, however it has started again where the tv freezes or keeps losing connection. So I decided to move to Sky. The next day, after giving talktalk my months notice, everything stopped working. I am having to keep resetting the router and power line adaptors... I don't know if it is possible for them to mess your connections like this but I cannot be bothered to call them again as I will lose my patience speaking to someone who clearly does not live in the UK. Also, when the cyber attack took place I cancelled my direct debit as I was worried by details had been stolen, talktalk had the cheek to tell me that I must pay non- direct debit fees! Even though they had a cyber attack they still expect me to let them hold onto my bank details. Talktalk is the worst for being a internet provider, customer service, and you can spend up to 1 hour on hold to try and speak to a person whose English is poor. Talktalk do not deserve a rating.

Im really disapointed with talk talk after 5 years, I dont know how much time i spend writing and calling talk talk. Before moving to a new house in the middle of May this year I called 3 weeks before moving date to make sure I will get an Ethernet as soon as possible, Cos of the someones mistakes Unfortunatly, my order didnt go through, Even I spend 40 min on the phone and agreed to all terms. After send 2 complaints, I was told that complain departament is closing the case, no oone offer me anything as apologies,so after a month being in a new place, no Ethernet still got charge 29.95.am sorry but is a joke, paying for something I dont use, and finally Yesterday from 1 to 6pm i was expecting engineer to set up the fast fibre, and no one came, I lost a day from my work, money and time, Cant watch my tv series, my son Cant watch Cartoons and I Cant stream my sports, Im angry, pissed off, and when I think someone from talk talk will call me again, I just dont want to answer my phone Cos its a waste of time, no one even bother to give me a call and say when they will come to do the set up again. I really would like to cancel my talk talk and swap for other company, cos thats not the way Yoh should treat people, specially when they pay. Worst customer service ever, i will make sure I wont recommend talk talk to any one, any where

The worst ever! You pay for something that you never have. Then you need to keep calling them to complain and eventually they fix the issue for 1 or 2 days. then everything is back to the same rubbish! Horrible! Average internet speed (when you pay for up to 35!) is 0.8!!!

Absolutely terrible company I cant stress enough to stay away from them. Couldn't get broadband as was too far away from exchange point, which was fine...it was nobodys fault...but when I tried to cancel they tried to charge hundreds of pounds worth of cancellation fees despite them breaching the contract which stated the minimum broadband speed. I was getting no Internet whatsoever yet still had to pay to cancel, which I refused to do. They said they would provide me with broadband, which they failed to do therefore I should have been able to cancel the contract with no problems. I had engineers out and all sorts which conveniently were no longer on talktalks record of coming out... thankfully, bt had it on their record. I ended up with hundreds of pounds worth of dept and is now in the hands of an ombudsman who agrees they're in the wrong. Absolutely despise this company, broadband is just as terrible as their awful customer service which is riddled with foul rude obnoxious people. If you're looking for a company just as cheap, with outstanding customer service and great broadband speeds...go to plusnet. Amazing company I wish I went with them from the start!

I urge anybody that is thinking about going with talk for any of their services to think again. Worst mistake I ever made. I wish I had stayed with sky.

My talk talk broadband is fine when it's actually working, but the problem is that the broadband only works for five minutes at a time before dropping out. I have spent hours on the phone to them about this, I have had countless engineers come out and tell me it's fixed. It isn't fixed and I doubt it ever will be. Talk talk are dreadful, I have never experience a customer service that is as useless and unhelpful.

Been with them almost a month now, recordered a fault the first day my internet went live as I was getting speeds of 0.5mbps when the lowest guaranteed speed is 1.7mbps and they predicted I should get atleast 2-4, they have sent out 2 engineers. first engineer did nothing, second engineer left after he couldn't get the speed past 900kbps and considered the issue "resolved" Called several times explaining the issue is a line issue, used the webchat explaining it is a line issue, used the community forums explaining it is a line issue and TalkTalks attempt to resolve this issue? Send me a router, I can't wait for my third engineer to come out and be unable to fix this problem so I can exit the contract freely.
I wish I could give this review 0 stars.

I can't even give this service a star..absolutely DISGUSTING company, they take money from your bank without authorisation or even a trace on the transaction, they charged £50 fee for an engineer when he came to fix a write, started contract from beginning when I moved home without telling me and charged me £50 for me to plug my own equipment into the new property.oh yes and the incorrect email and charging me for paper bille, even though this was their error...they take no responsibility.i urge you DO NOT use this company. I can not wait till my contract ends..i pay for fibre and my internet is slow, constantly loses connection or does not work. You ring customer service again and again...waste of my time and my money !!!

Broadband speed atrocious. ....connecting to an operator almost impossible. .... totally not worth the time or money spent on hoping to get a good deal. In the end returned to my previous provider who I now realise are an amazing company. Would definitely not recommend. ....

Worst service ever - prepaid for 12 months with an introductory discount moved house and the discount seized.
Now talk talk want to charge me a monthly fee because I have moved. I have spent 2.5 hours on the online chat to India and still don't have a solution. I have also written to them on the 13/6/16 and had no reply. All the advisors do is read from a script - useless and robbing people blind avoid talk talk at all costs

I am on TalkTalk Fibre suppose to be the best TalkTalk can give. Well that is not so. I am suppose to get up 48Mbs and yet after 3 independent Broad Band speed checks from 3 different companies the best I can get is a miserly 12.04Mb/s A Quarter of what I am paying for. I am not inpressed with Talk Talk at all. Keep Away.

First the good points - the customer service staff are polite and accessible (much easier and quicker to speak to someone than many other providers). Unfortunately that's the only good point. The quality of the broadband service is appalling. I'm paying for 76mbps (Fibre L), the highest I have ever seen is 16.9mpbs, the usual is 4-5mbps. I've never used the home phone (even though I have to pay for it), the TV service is just FreeView, with a very slow and clunky digibox. Any modern SmartTV will be better - I've removed the TalkTalk YouView box and just use the Samsung TV with a memory stick shoved in the back for recording. I cannot recommend Talk Talk for anyone. I am going to pay the fine to be able to leave the contract early.

One star is too much. I have just spent 1.5 hour on the phone with them. they passed me around like dirty shoe. The problem i have is that my wifi signal works only when i am sitting next to modem no further then one meter. I only asked for new modem so I can get signal around the house. They said i must extend my contract for 18 month otherwise i will not get one. I said i am not assigning with them for so log after such experience. they are not willing to help so basically i am paying for internet which does not work. PLEASE DONT DO THE SAME MISTAKE AND DO NOT USE TALK TALK if you dont have to. Also when you call them, the connection is very bad so you do understand every second word.

I am not used to being a troll, but I must say: avoid at all costs. It is worth paying £10 more a month then to go through the hell on earth that TalkTalk put you through. I have been with them for years. I have given them a second chance a third chance fourth chance. Today, I have finally given up; they have made substantial mistakes at every single step of trying to correct my long-standing problems with them. A few months ago, after complaining about inconsistent broadband, they talked me into upgrading to fibre. At every single step of this upgrade, there was a mistake , And not just a small mistake. When you contact support, you are put in touch with an agent, who may be very pleasant, but really knows nothing, and is reading from a script; they are obviously warned against deviating one I order from the script, and will waste your time repeating these rubrics As if they were putting you through Tridentine Latin Mass from the Roman Catholic Church from before Vatican II. Today, I literally spent the entire day talking to various agents; when they hand you off one from another, you wind up starting from the beginning of the script again. Today was the final straw ; Yesterday was the go live date for fibre. Instead of faster fibre broadband, my service went dead Even though everything inside my home was working perfectly well all through the weekend, with the new writer, on my old standard. Service, aged after agent insisted on walking me through steps with my router, cable, filter etc. No matter how often I assure them everything was working just before they switched, and the fault was probably at the cabinet. I was totally ignored, pasta on to another agent, and so we began from the beginning – not a very good place to start— despite what Julie Andrews might say.

I was on the phone to them for an hour, Intailly being patient whist they do the checks to why I my Tv broadband not working after they couldn't see a fault then told me to check all the wires plugs etc.. THEN get a screw drivier and take apart the phone line! Or pay for an engineer! I didn't join talk talk to do an electrians job! The service is terrible, they are a con and get away with taking your money whist providing awful service!! So basically pay for a service your not receiving or pay £325 to cancel. I wish I had read the reviews first!

Please please don't not use talk talk, they are awful! I wish I had checked all of the bad reviews first. I called the customer service after I was having problems with my broadband, firstly It was difficult to understand the lady then once they had done all the checks they told me to look at all my plug sockets and THEN get a screw driver and take the phone socket off otherwise pay £65 for an enginer, even though by going by there reviews pay for an enginer for something that is their fault! I was on the phone for over an hour, the service is terrible!'

After the awful service I asked to cancel but they are a con and told me I would have to pay £325!

Talk Talk is a con and get away with provided absoulutely awfuk service and terrible customer care!

Supporting my cousin after her return from hospital, I noted her Talk Talk bill on a counter. £44 per month. At 77 she has no computer and does not need broadband. I called to see if I could get her a better deal. Unfortunately, the Loyalty dept was unable to access any deal via her account and I was asked to call back in a few hours. It should also be noted that because the call centre is located in way outside the UK, the delay when communicating is difficult to get used to. My second call went unanswered despite waiting for well over an hour. Result? My cousin has left Talk Talk. Result!!! She is now paying £24 per month - almost half the price. Get your act together Talk Talk

I had heard that their customer service wasn't very good, but I never needed to contact them in the first place until I left, and even then they were generally helpful. There was a bit of a mix-up with my change to a new provider but this was quickly dealt with. Internet speeds didn't set the world on fire but were fine for the price, and overall TalkTalk provided a reliable service.

I have been a Talktalk customer for several years now and I can honestly say it hasn’t been a pleasurable exeperience! They may be cheap but for this you have to put up with the terrible customer service!
They are rude and unhelpful And promise you things over the phone but don’t deliver and do not record it on your account just to get you off the phone!

I am definitely leaving at the end of my contract, I would happily pay more if I never have to speak to them again!

Please don't do this to yourself. Utterly awful, horrific, could-not-be-worse actual service, and even worse "customer service". Got to be the worst company in Britain; makes BT look like your own personal Jeeves the butler by comparison. How on earth are they allowed to take money for this?

I've had great service from talk talk. Very efficient and helpful. I think it's a well organised company. There's been no trouble with my broadband. Signal seems to be strong all the time, even though they explained it could be intermittent at the beginning.
I would definately recommend from the experience I have had with them.

Like most providers, it is only when it goes wrong that you realise how good or bad a company is. In six months I have had two major outages. One for ten days, which required three Openreach engineers to come out before the problem was solved. The final one, a more experienced chap, found the line fault that had eluded the others in about five minutes. The second time I was without internet for a week, because of a coding error at Talktalks end, which meant I was only getting a scrambled signal. When trying to get back online I found that the router I had, a Netgear, which was originally supplied by Talktalk, was no longer supported by Talktalk, so they tried to charge me for a new one!!!! Eventually they relented and sent me a freebie, as they should have done. I use the Hotmail interface as my 'client' email, and have my own domain name connected to my business and website. The break in broadband connection caused severe disruption to all the settings around my email, and took days further to sort out. I will say that some of the support staff did their best and were genuinely helpful, but others just could not be bothered, and at the end of the day all of them have their hands tied by a poor company. At the moment I am trying to get early release from my Talktalk contract, so I can move to a decent supplier.

    ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Line was supposed to go active on the 19th - didn't work, spent over 6 hours via text message asking me ridiculous questions! Then tried to phone, on the phone for a long time, guy was patronising, implied I must have set it up wrong, wanted me to unscrew panels in the sockets, told me I must have put it in wrong socket! Transferred to someone else, went through whole thing again, after 27 minutes asked why she couldn't call me back - arranged a call for half hour later, never happened! Phoned back twice the next day, same questions, same tests running on the line blah blah! Then they booked an engineer for a weeks time - no internet means I lose money in work - asked to look she a complainer by, was told a manager would call me back if n 5 days time, I said that's not good and all I got was 'I apologise for that'. Phoned back to cancel, even that was traumatic, told I had to phone again the next day as they had all gone home, they can't email other departments apparently or get someone from the customer team to call me! Wouldn't cancel so I said as you record your calls, take this as confirmation of me cancelling and I'm instructing bank to refuse all payments!!! She said that wouldn't work and I would still need to speak to someone, rude lady!!!!! Never want to deal with them again!!! Dread to think how much this has cost me in calls and incredibly stressful!!!!

A while back TalkTalk were 'hacked', got nuisance calls from India, TalkTalk claimed my account was not 'hacked' so it was not their fault, to avoid the possibility of being sued.
Line went active two weeks after the given date, was excited to have broadband for £17 per month, it's currently £25.20 (about to rise to £27.50 on November 16) which is a big jump. You get what you pay for was never more relevant. When broadband is stable it is acceptable but, it is rarely stable, unable to connect is a very frequent frustration and calls to the service centre result in a merry go round of limited narrative. My first router had a faulty ADSL socket where I had no connection at all most of the time, the service centre did not have the narrative for this fault which they could not comprehend. Eventually I learned of the forum and you can only get your issues dealt with in the forum. It took a staggering 4 months to get my router exchanged... ... FOUR MONTHS!
When it is stable you have the wonder of dial up speeds of around 800kbps, the odd part is when you do a speed test it claims (for myself) around 5mbps which is crafty connection speed, but it ends there and 800kbps is your lot.
Streaming is OK if you let it buffer before you watch. Online gaming is also OK if you don't mind occasional disconnections and wait a long while to download your game at between 300 to 800kbps :/, if there are several users online it is definitely no better than dialup.
The lure of cheaper rates is a good incentive to join TalkTalk but, you are very quickly disappointed and very frustrated throughout the contract. My phone has been down and it has taken a week to fix by BT openreach. The service centre can tinker with your connection in India, combined with BT this is very suspicious why the service is so poor and a service engineer be offered for £85, which seems to vary apparently .
I am at present initiating a switch of service provider (active in one week... thank goodness for that) to free service, just have to pay for line rental, being free may make it no better than TalkTalk, but at least it won't cost me more than line rental to be frustrated and the contract length is multi option and can move on if I am dissatisfied... ...Farewell TalkTalk, at no cost will I ever burden myself with your frustrating service again, in the two years with TalkTalk probably had about three months of stable internet.
