DO NOT SIGN UP WITH TalkTalk.
I had been with them since 2005. I had a few problems over the years, but they were always sorted out quite quickly and with no fuss. Then things completely changed about 4 months ago.
Customer service became irritating, condescending, obnoxious, and USELESS!
Brightsparks engineers are useless, Openreach engineers are equally hopeless and incompetent.
The ratings don't have Zero stars because thats their true worth.
I left them this month... I will NEVER return.

Absolutely appalling customer service and connection for both broadband and TV. Not only was the signal the poorest quality #I have ever seen, but we were made to jump through hoops at every turn to even get close to what we wanted, and were supplied with the wrong products after enquiries. They even jacked up the price of our contract (which we are battling with as I type), without our consent or knowledge! The call centre staff have no communication between departments and as a result it takes days to sort out the most trivial of issues. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO TALKTALK! Don't be tempted by their 'offers', they are an abysmal company and don't deserve anyone's business.

Their prices are reasonable, but that's about all the positive that I can say about them! Their broadband speed is both poor, (we stream at around 28mps and we're on their fastest fibre which should provide up to 76mps), whilst their Customer Service staff make promises that are unrealistic and promises to return calls that are never kept to! I have been in touch with their Executive Office on two protracted occasions and they're pleasant enough, but nothing ever happens and all they do is to hide behind T&Cs when asked for compensation! In my opinion, you should pay more, get more and steer very well clear of TalkTalk, as Dido Harding, (their CEO), does nothing and everyone else is about as useless as a chocoloate fire guard!!

I am disappointed in TalkTalk as they where a good unlimited broadband however one day they came and visited my house, they said they wanted to check the phone because they where having problems and it was shut off.after they left the phone got disconnected and shut of completely, we can not call or get calls.on top of that fact the internet which before the visit had Mbps download speed got limited to 1.7mbps(all computer had to share the 1.7) i have no idea why they did this.i do not recommenced using talktalk.i changed to BT hopefully it will be better

Worst company I have ever had to deal with. For the fourth time in 4 weeks have been on the phone to them for nearly an hour each call. Tonight was 1 hour and 7 minutes. This was just to close the account.
The quote they give you , don't believe it. The cost will be at least double. When you try to close the account after giving them two months notice they then try to charge another months notice period. I spoke to a Vanessa one of the Managers she was helpful, after 50 mins, more or less on hold, I was getting quite frustrated and she was helpful. Nothing they could say would make me go back to Talk talk or ever recommend them. If you have plenty time to spare and like phone music and are happy to pay double the price that you were given, then this would be the Company for you. Virgin:- much cheaper, customer service much better, and they charge you what they say they will.

We called them that we are moving house and they automatically renew the package for our new house for 18 months! What I don't get is why we still have to pay so much money to cancel? They don't listen and resolve the problem but instead they had the gut to call us and tell us to stop with the complaints! This crazy service !.D lol this must be embarrassing for u lot to hear. #ShouldBeAshamed

I signed up TalkTalk at the beginning of December 2014, my first engineers appointment was cancelled so I had to wait almost 4 weeks to for the engineer to come to get my fibre optic broadband connected.
I signed up to the 38MB package and I have been lucky to get 6MB on a good day, most evening I get about 2MB - sometimes I cant even watch Netflix or BBCiPlayer because its so slow.
Ever since I signed in December my Broadband would cut out for hours and sometimes even days - I called up and complained and it took them 3 weeks to fix it - so I had no broadband for 3 weeks - upon fixing the problem I found out my landline hadnt been working since day one! Good thing I dont rely on my landline. And to rub salt in the wound they have sent me my bill for this month and I have to pay it or I will get charged/fined £10 - and I can only apply for compensation once the problem is fixed - they say the issue/fault is still on going.... still waiting...

At first things were going very well. Then my account got hacked which I personally had to deal with, then my mobile deal started being overcharged which took 3 customer advisors an hour to work out what 50% off £15 is. I signed up to fibre broadband (18month)with my landline going up £60 within that time and they trap you into a cycle of extra fees. learnt my lesson - don't trust these crooks

6 months with them. Major speed and connectivity problems from the start. I've lost count of the number of times I have phoned them and been through the same telephone/remote troubleshooting process. 3 engineer visits as well but problem continues. I went through to cancellation but they convinced me to let them have another go at foxing. Last engineer visit of the three mentioned above was 11 days ago. I've heard nothing more. I therefore need to ring them again and go through the same me menu options and tedious question answering before I can get to speak to someone. I'm absolutely sick of receiving apologies and platitudes but no meaningful progress solving my problems. It is cheap but the old adage really does apply - you get what you pay for. If you can afford an extra few quid a month go elsewhere, anywhere - PLEASE DO NOT GO TO TALK TALK.

Talk Talk have been the worst provider for any service I have ever experienced, I will never use them again in any of my properties.
I specifically had call barring and was issued with a £100 bill for calls. when called them they said I called and asked the call baring to be removed. When asked for this proof none was given. tried to close account and complain and Talk Talk delayed for 1 year so not only was I overcharged I have had to pay for a years worth of service I have never used. unfortunately the Ombudsman is not really here for the end user and it would have been cheaper just to pay and cancel than try to fight the overcharge and now £300 later I still lost. what a disgusting company especially Lorraine Macleod who has just ignored any communication and who's job it is just to rip innocent people off. Stay away

If you are considering signing a contract with this company FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T!!!
We signed an 18 month contract with talk talk in 2013, for the first few months it was great, then the internet speed started to drop, getting to the point where we no longer had good enough speeds to watch catch up TV/Now TV both of which were services we were paying for.
After multiple phone calls and arguments with talktalk's less than helpful customer service representatives talktalk finally agreed to send out an engineer to see what the issue was, warning us that if the issue was found to be our fault we would have to pay £50 for the call out, we we're told the engineer would be with us a month later. After telling my partner this he said he wasn't waiting that long, cancel the contract and we'll get a new provider. Funnily enough when I called to cancel I was very quickly informed that they would send an engineer out within 4 days!! On his visit the engineer confirmed the issue was with the equipment provided by talktalk and reassured me that I would not be charged for this visit as the fault was not ours.
As you've probably already guessed they charged me for that visit therefore taking money out of my account without my knowledge or cencent putting me over drawn leaving me with a £60 bank chargers whilst it took them 10 days to return the money to me.
After another 7months of continued problems both with the internet connection and the customer service provided we gave up, I rang talktalk yesterday to tell them I wanted to cancel my contract as I wanted to sign up with another provider (I don't trust providers to do this as we have lost money before through a new provider saying they would cancel the current contract and not doing it.... thinking about it that was when we moved from Sky to talktalk so another cock up on talktalk's behalf) I was told that my contract runs out on April 28th so they would cancel our contract on the 29th so that we would not incur any charges, I asked what would happen with another provider taking over, they said that's not a problem they would call talktalk and take over the line and sort it out between themselves. I today got a phone call to be told I will be charged £20 as my new provider has asked to take over the line on the 9th April, after 20mins of pointing out to talktalk that the information they provided me was incorrect to which they have agreed, they are still however going to charge me for canceling my contract "early" despite the fact that only yesterday told me that I would not be charged and that the line change would be sorted between themselves and my new provider!!
Please take my experience on board if you are considering this company, they have literally stolen from me, and they are going to do it again, I will be going to CAB tomorrow and if needs be I will continue this further. Please do not put yourself at talktalk's mercy because they will make sure you regret ever making such a stupid decision.

letter sent to talktalk:-
We had a fix term contract for 12months. This was arranged by you, whom unsolicited, contacted me to stay with your company after I had cancelled and left, due to cost increase. Your sales pitch was;-
''if we give you this fix term cost would you come back''
Several months into this agreement, you reneged on in, giving one month notice to increase the cost again. I immediately gave one months notice of termination by emails below, due to your breach of trust and agreement. Then followed this up with a second email on 02 December 2014. The service therefore was cancelled on the 18 December 2014.
You continue to send out bills for after that date, as if I had not cancelled the service. Further to add pain to the injury think I am going to acquiesce to some early termination clause!
Why are you acting in such an unprofessional manner?

I recently had a problem with my broadband , I phoned talk talk , and a lady on the phone had me perform several tests including one which involved me removing the cover from my phone box , after determining that there was a fault she said she would book an engineer , when I asked about the charge she told me there would not be one (verbal contract) , when the engineer arrived he discovered that the fault had been fixed , again I asked about the charge and he said there would not be one (verbal contract). however talk talk are now insisting I pay £65 which I am disputing , so I am expecting debt collectors at my door any day now , what joy.

Talk Talk is a scam. STAY AWAY from them I left them last year as service was terrible, and so called them and gave my 30 days notice. Only now in 2015, i find they have been charging me and never closed my account as the person i spoke to failed to put a notice on my account. They had me on the phone for an hour, spoke to 6 people and all they said from their script is that i must pay as the account is not closed. This behaviour is criminal. Terrible service.

absolutely awful customer service. I applied for a new line. On the day it was supposed to be installed the engineer did not arrive. talktalks customer service department they told me there was no way to know why the engineer did not turn up or where he was.
all they could do apparently was call me 48 hours later to let me know when another engineer might be available. This was after speaking to multiple staff members including 2 managers and spending an interminable amount of time on hold. needless to say I have cancelled my account an will be going to ma different internet provider

I have been complaining about poor service from TalkTalk for a number of weeks. Low broadband speeds and constant drop outs and errors have meant that use of the internet has become extraordinarily difficult. I am constantly having to wait for pages to load and then when they do they drop and refresh.
In the past month I have spent over 15 hours – yes fifteen hours on the telephone carrying out tests with tech support people in India and South Africa – anywhere except my own country.
I have requested on numerous occasions to be allowed to speak to someone in the Uk and have been repeatedly refused . In fact I have been told more than once that I not not allowed to speak to anyone in the UK.
I have been a customer of Talktalk since it’s inception and am absolutely disgusted at the poor level of customer support.
About four weeks ago I contacted Talktalk and said that as I was “out of contract” I was going to leave to go to another supplier because of the substandard service I allowed myself to be persuaded to stay with Talktalk on the assurance that steps would be taken to resolve the problems. They haven’t!
I have now reached the end of my patience and want to close my account but now I find that they have subjected me to a new minimum term and I am told – by someone in – guess where – India - that I will be charged a penalty for unexpired term
I am not prepared to be held to ransom by a company that finds it impossible to provide the service I am paying for you will regret it and will not allow me to speak to anyone in my own country. The service used to be Ok but now it's disgraceful. Do Not Go Near talktalk

When I first got talk talk line rental installed they were great, this was four years ago however I moved home recently and as I wasn't moving straight into my new house I requested my account to b put on hold til I had my own house again, this was a few month. When I rung up to have in reinstalled I was offered a cheaper papackage and as I'd have to to be saving money for other household item I accepted, but only after making sure there were no extra charges. I repeatedly asked the woman on the phone this and she stated that they was no extra charges and that my monthly bill would be £25 per month. My go live date wasn't til a fortnight later and then...my first bill arrived. £175!!!! I rang the straight away and they wer tryin to bill me for one of the months my account was on hold, they were charging me £50 for downgrading my package, another £50 for some box that I've still NOT rreceived and my fist two months bills because apparently we pay a month in advanced which I was never told about either. All this was after I was reassured that there would be no extra charges. When I rang their customer services I was passed to many different departments n put on hold for hours before I actually got someone decent who could understand me on the phone(I'm not racist, I myself am mixed race) I managed to get £50 off the bill but then I was advised a manager would return my call to sort out the rest.. This was over two months ago and I'm still waiting.. I rang every day for a week n spoke to numerous customer service agents that played dumb.. This company is awful and I high recommend finding a different one!!!!

This company should not be in business. Worst customer service ever. All I wanted was confirmation in wriiting of my contract I know it was 12 months and they say 24. Apparently cannot get access to anything that has been sent. Told to send a letter and photo identification - how ridiculous! Youview is rubbish had 2 boxes now and new connectors had 3 months without on demand. Want to charge me £312 to get out of contract and £75 for the box. I was glad to see all the other complaints. Please avoid, would pay more for a customer service which understands what you are saying and that are helpful.

I'm absolutely furious. Got off the phone with the complaint manager with a very bitter taste in my mouth. I complained about a £50 charge of allegedly missed engineer appointment 3 months ago! A member of our household was sitting at home all day waiting for the engineer! No notification was left or email or voice mail. Nothing. We contacted them and complained 2days later, got a new appointment. Then 3 months later they charge me for it! The complaint manager who called me back to inform me that the charges will stand was very arrogant and unhelpful. Not even mentioning that their broadband service is absolutely crap. Very very slow and it doesn't even reach one of the rooms in an average terrace house!!!

Words fail me with this so called company - hours of time phoning emailing. They've ask me to perform the same line checks every time I call - guard engineers like they are sacred - what about the customers?? They text and call you saying they will assume you are ok if you don't get back to them...but leave no number to return the call and a return text bounces straight back!!! Indian call centre very polite but you may as well be talking to a plank of wood...no empathy for the customer or initiative to provide customer service whatsoever. Still waiting for the CEO to call me...won't hold breath...I'm off to Virgin!!!

This is the single worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my life. The broadband stopped working one day so we called the company, and that's where things go from bad to worse. Completely incompetent staff have no idea how to fix the issue. They tried to trap is into paying for an engineer to come out, they refuse to give a refund, they lose the case history etc. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I regret the day I took out a broadband contract with this company and I paid up front for 12 month so there was noway out ! where do I start.... First of all the broadband didn't work for 3 month there was a problem with the line in my area I tried to contact Talktalk on several occasions and I have never seen customer service like it!! you are transferred to a call center in india where you are basically just passed around and know one actually knows what is going on! anyway after the year I had to endure of slow/ not working broadband and bad customer service it finally came to an end! :) I knew straight away there was noway I would spend another second with them never mind another year. so I emailed the company informing them my contract was due to end on the 9th February and I would be leaving, I asked them if theirs anything else I needed to do to ensure it was 100% cancelled and I wouldn't be charged anymore, to this I had no reply. I then took out a contract with another company it was only then when this company had informed talktalk I was switching with them I received an email from them with all sorts of different offers. I ignored this and have been happy with my NEW broadband supplier for a month now when this morning I received an email which read ' your bill for march is now due'!! I tried to email the company which it wouldn't let me do because you have to be logged in and I no longer have an account because I am no longer a customer!! then why am I receiving a bill! in the end I decided to call them when I eventually got through and explained my situation to the guy, he put me on hold and 10 minutes later he directed me back to the main menu!! how is it possible they are so stupid! this company infuriates me and I can not express enough how much anyone should avoid them! they are not even worth the one star but it wouldn't let me leave a review without highlighting at least one!

Talk Talk may be cheaper but as they say if it seems too good to be true it probably is!
I had constant problems with my BroadBand it was forever dropping off and wifi devices woild connect but data would not transfer.
I had an engineer out and he said he had 'signed me in on the router' that evening same faults again. I decided to leave and was charged £65 for a brightspark engineer on my final bill. I complained but the call centre is useless and they just keep reading the same lines off the screen. They cannot see reason and you get feeling they have no powers to reason, they are just fobbing off the customers. SHAME ON YOU TALK TALK. AVOID - HONESTLY THEY ARE USELESS

At an event when I tried to end my contact they were charging lots of money. Cut off phone line and broadband even though I still had one month to use. I paid for phone line one year in advance. Had to involve Citizen Advice Bureau. Customer service very poorly, discrimination is present. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

As a plus customer I have been offered a free mobile sim card.
4 months later, and hours of phoning later, I still have not got it.
I complained to CEO's office who took 21 days to respond, despite their 5 day promise. Gentleman there said he had now sorted it, and my sim would arrive within 3 working days. Now 8 days and still waiting, so phoned again. An hour later I now have another confirmed order number to go with the other 5 and again been told it will arrive within 3 working days...... Absolutely awful - don't go near them! I signed up to an 18 month package with superfast broadband on a special offer. Broadband was installed but it took about 3 weeks to book the engineer and the line speed is extremely slow. I am now moving house within London and I've been told superfast broadband fibre isn't available at my new address, even though the BT openreach website says it is. I've been told that I have to enter a new 18 month contract just because I'm moving house and that Talktalk can't guarantee my package price if fibre broadband becomes available in my area. Oh, and also I was told an engineer would visit to install my TV box and that never materialised, it was just a hoax to get me to sign up. Completely hopeless and terrible customer service!

Absolute rubbish, their service is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE, their customer help relies on you getting bored and hanging up.... thus not resolving anything but at the same time you stay a "paying customer" so they are happy and you as a customer are left feeling totally helpless, angry, frustrated etc..... phone call was 35 minutes and ongoing... anyone want proof can ask to see my phone records.

I've just happily paid talk talk 90pound to put me out of my misery and let me cancel my broadband and new view package (on the phone for 2 hours), After yet again another week without being able to use my phone or broadband and being told I would need to pay for an engineer to come to my house to carry out checks.
This company is a joke it is never there problem was with sky for 2years before I changed and not one problem have now rejoined and they have also given me 90 pounds in high street vouchers, I wouldn't recommend talk talk to anybody just pay the extra pound a month and take your business to a company that wants it

I've had speed issues with talktalk broadband for the past 2 months. Every time I call the support number one of the following things happen:
1- they can't solve the issue, hence hang the phone up.
2- they say they're a manager and will solve the issue, but they don't at the end.
3- they send a talktalk engineer over, who is more useless that the phone support.
4- they send BTOpenReach engineer, who says nothing is wrong.
5- the above cycle gets repeated two to three times.
6- you want to make a complaint, but then there is no one more senior than the technical manager, hence he reports the complaints on the system and no one will call you back.
7- you get so frustrated that you want to cancel the contract, but they don't allow you.
8 - your contract runs out, then talktalk sales people keep calling you to make sure you sign another 18 months contract with them.
Then they charge you £65 for a visit from an engineer who couldn't fix the problem. AVOID AVOID AVOID
