Before upgrading to fibre optic the internet was already pisspoor, barely ever reaching 1mbps. So you can understand my joy when after purchasing fibre optic, with speeds of up to 35mpbs promised, I reached the dizzying heights of 3mbps. It's shocking how we've gone through 3 routers and the results are still the same, anyone with a brain would know it's just the shanty connections they offer. Talktalk are a scam end of. Your better off purchasing a 4g bundle and running your house off of a hotspot. Though not talktalk phone packages. No phone signal the majority of the time, scammers

I registered with them in on the 16th of August 2014, they couldn’t get the phone and broadband working till the 24 of September after several calls chasing for an engineer to come for installation.
Had an appointment booked with an engineer in which he dint turn up and could not bee informed he wasn’t going to show up, waited at home all day and yet I have been charged from the 16th August onwards for the services I hadn’t received.
I phone to query this issue they said they were going to take out charges for only August that I still had to pay for September. I expected them to adjust their billing date as I should only be charged from 24thof September onwards but they said they cant cause their system is fixed so now I have to be paying in advance of services I hadn’t use.
Their customer service is terrible, they wanted cheap labour cost so their call centre is full of Asians that certainly don’t understand or speak proper English, they haven’t got good knowledge of what’s going on my account. If I ask them question cant answer unless they put me on hold to go get answer from someone else.
The worst part I am been charged £14.50 for not having a direct debit which is not true has they sent me an email together with a letter confirming that they have received my bank detail how stupid is that.
Every month I have an issue with them always spending 2hrs on the phone as the customer service will put you on hold minimum of 45min before you can talk to a manager. It’s very frustrating trying to get them on the phone
I regret registering with them each time I tried to cancel they apologise just to keep me yet I have problem every month. Sometimes the broadband will not work and yet I have a fibre installation

We have been with talk talk for about 3 years.now. I recently moved house so really trusted talk talk however it is getting out of hand now. When we joined talk talk promised to provide with good internet speed (17mph) however checking th internet speed from talk talk website its 2.6mph. This is rediculous. Complained about it engineer came and checked however didnot give a
satisfying answer to why it is so slow that when i try to use my internet in my nbedroom it does not work atall. This is false advertising. We decided to get the fiber where as thisthe original contract should have been so enough for us to use as there are only devises we use wifi in. I am just hating this and would surely think twice before i get my contract renewed again!!

Been with talk talk for years now, left BT as there service was terrible they limited my broadband speeds all the time and would not admit it. In the end I decided to switch looked around and not trusting any providers I went with the cheapest which at the time was talk talk, started with there adsl service wasn't quite as fast as what BT provided us but they didn't limit speeds at all so was very happy. Then I moved to another area switching my service to another house was super simple decided to go to fibre wanted the fastest they provided but the lady on the phone advised me that in my area the medium fibre was the fastest they could offer so it would be cheaper for the same service (was very pleased with this) since having there fibre still not throttling my speeds at all and has been reliable the whole time. Then Thursday last week my phone and BB stopped working, left it Thursday thinking maybe it will get fixed, Friday no joy so phoned up Friday about 5pm all automated just gave my phone number, they immediately diverted calls to my mobile. I didn't expect anything to happen over the weekend as I assumed it was a line fault, first thing Monday morning engineer turns up at the door and two hours later it's fixed. As it turns out it was BT open reach that had used my line for someone else's house. The only thing that talk talk could do to improve my service would be to get rid of BT all together (I know this isn't possible)

Customer service was basically zero, I work and mark quality in a call centre the call in question wouldn't even get a meets !! Easily below !! They were terrible awkward silences apologises a hundred times but offering no resolution to say it was poor customer service would be an understatement ! The woman on the phone basically said my internet connection was rubbish admitted it could be fixed ... Wait there's a catch ... More money !! Why on earth should I have to pay extra to be able to receive a service I'm already paying for!! Also id like to bring to your attention to the fact when people are calling to complain about charges your then asking them to terminate the call with the free number and then redial to a premium rate big high five to the genius that thought of that procedure ... Nice move a lovely chap named jack from BT is returning my call tomorrow more than likely the last incoming call I'll have in my life with a talk talk phone service is an absolute disgrace lets hope this review is as well advertised as my bank details !!!

I signed up with Talk Talk recently and my go live date was September 13th. The package I signed up for was regular broadband for £5 a month and £16.99 rental with the added TV package for £2.50 a month which stated the ability to pause and rewind The package also stated free evening and weekend calls. After the engineer had left and we had connected the internet was unusable. We were getting 0.3MB download and 0.1MB upload, a normal page would take 40 plus seconds to load and the internet would intermittently go on and off throughout the day. The phone line was also unusable, a horrible crackling and hissing noise present in the background and calls would randomly cut off mid call, on certain occasions you could also hear someone else’s conversations in the background. I called Talk Talk and was taken through a lengthy process to remove the cover of the socket and test with the master socket, Talk Talk said this test completed and showed no issues. I continued to state that there clearly was an issue and Talk Talk arranged to send out an Open Reach engineer 8 days later which is a considerable amount of time to not have broadband in this day and age. Whilst on the call I also asked about my TV package, I had plugged in the YouView box to find it had no recording capabilities, in fairness TalkTalk didn’t state that the box did record, this was just my assumption based on the fact that it is capable of rewinding and pausing, surely that means there is a hard drive present and the box has the capability of recording. As such in my eyes it is no different to the freeview receiver and Smart TV functions my television already has so I was wondering what exactly I was paying £2.50 a month for. The advisor stated that the £7.50 a month was a combined charge for broadband and television and that there was no separate £5 and £2.50 charges as part of it, I noticed when visiting Talk Talk’s website that the package details had changed to this also, however this is not what was stated when we signed up. I got nowhere with this and decided to leave it for the sake of £2.50 a month. I took a days holiday from work for the engineer appointment as we were told this could not be done on a weekend. When it came to that day a man arrived who identified himself as a Cube engineer, not an Open Reach engineer. He literally had a replacement router with him, even though we had stated the issues with the phone line as well he proceeded to change the router which made no difference and then called Talk Talk himself, advising that he was a Cube engineer and that the router change had not worked. Talk Talk’s call centres are in India, its incredibly hard for both parties to understand each other, so much so in this case that the Talk Talk representative was trying to get him to follow the same steps we had removing the front plate of the socket, to which he aggravatedly kept stating that he is a Cube Engineer. He advised us that Talk Talk needed to look into this further and that they would be in touch. I waited a further three days without hearing anything before calling back. When I called it was if there was no record of any of the previous activity on my account, I was told to go through the same steps as before even though I informed the agent that I had already plugged the equipment in to the master socket after removing the front plate. Again the test showed no issues. I was told again that they needed to investigate this further and would get back in touch with me. I was already receiving emails that my first payment was due shortly so I advised the agent that I would not be making any payment until my services were working. She said she understands completely. Two days later my payment date has passed and I have not heard from Talk Talk apart from two calls missed when I was at work chasing me for payment. The next day another call comes through stating that I need to make a payment. I’m absolutely livid by this point, asking the agent to look at his screen and tell me what the notes on my account say, he clearly has no idea of the issues or the fact that I stated I would not make a payment. After venting some of my frustration I was put through to a manager. He stated that Open Reach had rejected Talk Talk’s original booking as they had not followed their requirements correctly. I stated that I had to take a day’s holiday previously and he arranged for an Open Reach engineer to attend the following day which was coincidentally enough a Saturday. The following day Open Reach arrive and find an issue with the line, they head away to a box at the bottom of the road and fix the issue. We now have working broadband, 2.4MB down, not the best but usable at least. I wait two days to ensure everything continues to work and then I call Talk Talk to make my first payment. I had been told previously that I would be recompensed for the downtime which was a total of 3 weeks. I was offered £13 for this. I stated that £13 is a pathetic amount considering we were offline for such a long time, I was told that the calculation was based on the amount of days we were off and all they could do was add a further £5 goodwill gesture to it. I accepted this, desperate to get off the phone and not have to spend any further time struggling to understand their agents, hoping that this would be the last time I would need to speak to them. Literally two days later I receive an email saying I am half way through my allotted call allowance for the month. Confused as to what this means I log in to my account to find that we have no free evening or weekend calls and Talk Talk have set a maximum call charge value per month of £19 meaning we had already spent over £8 in calls. I’m desperate to fix this without calling them so I go onto the booster section of my account, I notice there is a boost for £5 a month which gives you unlimited calls to UK landlines and mobiles all day. I’m happy enough to take this so I click to add it to my package, on the next page it states that I need to pay for 12 months upfront for this booster. A total of £60. I’m now completely angered that I will again have to call one of their call centres. I speak to a lady who says she can apply the package on a month to month basis for me, she then states that she can change my package to accommodate this which will save me £2.50 a month, but that this will cause the 18 month contract to start again, as we are only one month in to the contract I agree to do this and I am placed on hold. After 20 minutes of being on hold she states that as I am a new customer Talk Talk requires me to make a £30 payment upfront to change to this service, she says this will reflect and be deducted from my next bill. I agree to this and am put on hold for a further 20 minutes for her to come back and apologise for the delay and put me on hold for another 20 minutes. Over an hour into this call just to add a free calls booster she comes back to say she is unable to process the order currently as payments do not show up on their system for 24 hours. She says she has placed notes on the system regarding the order and that I need to call back in 24 hours. She then advises that they are changing to a new security method which uses voice recognition instead of you providing your details when you call Talk Talk and asks me to stay on the line at the end of the call. This automated service then asks you to say ‘My voice is now my password’ It asked me to repeat this 6 times and then stated there was an issue and the recording couldn’t be saved. I’m quite a calm person in general but I cannot tell you how angry I was by this point. The following day I call back for them to set this package up again, I am advised that the advisor now is having the same issues setting up the package and I am placed on hold for another 20 minutes. At this point the advisor states that the previous colleague was supposed to take the payment whilst placing the order and that this had been done incorrectly which had stopped the order being taken. I was told I needed to make a further payment of £30 for her to process the order. Livid is no longer the word, I’ve never encountered a company this bad in my lifetime, I told the advisor to cancel the order and refund me my initial payment and that I would be speaking with Ofcom. It’s been an absolute nightmare being with Talk Talk, I would advise anyone to steer way clear of them or expect to spend countless hours on the phone with them if you encounter any kind of issue.

We have been with talk for about 7 years now, our connection started messing about about a year ago, we have up to 38MB fibre. I have called Talk Talk numerous time, we have had 3 talktalk engineer visits, 1 btopenreach engineer visits, 4 routers and noone is able to tell what the problem is. When the engineer comes out it works, all test results are good. Then the speed dives again, and quiet often we get 1 MB download speed, and it keeps disconnecting the tablet and mobile. when I asked talktalk about superfast fibre, yes I can have it with another 18 month contract. they wont give the superfast fibre for 4 month, thats whats left from the contract. At least I could try it, no they wont allow me. I can try it for 20 days, which is the calming down period, but if it will do same issue after 20 days on the second day of 18 month contract. I am absolutely fed up with talktalk, really want to get out of this contract.

I am writing this review up stairs in my bedroom using my 4G data on my phone as my talk talk router cannot seem to find enough power to send a signal up thirteen steps.
Over the last week my service has dropped out four times, when I tried to resolve the situation I was told that if an engineer has to come into my property to see if the problem is there I would be charged… charged for fixing a problem caused by talk talk and their unreliable internet.
This was at 2pm on the 23/06/22, the engineer was meant to come out on the 24/06/22 between 1pm and 6pm, when I told talk talk no one would be in the house till after half past three they said they couldn’t guarantee a time and that if someone turned up and I wasn’t in I would be charged £65.
So I decided to cancel the engineer, to which I was told that I had now past “the point of no return” this is when openreach have been booked. Despite me booking the engineer at around 3pm I was told that you have to cancel before 12pm at least one day before your appointment… can anyone tell me how I’m supposed to do that when the booking was made at 3pm the day before the engineer was due to come out?
Subsequently as I had missed “the point of no return” I would now get charged £65 for cancelling the engineer because I didn’t have the ability to time travel back to 12pm on the 23rd to avoid the “point of no return”.
I was then told, after some discussion that a note would be put on my account to say that I attempted to cancel the engineer, and that when the £65 showed up on my bill I had to phone back to see if I could get the £65 removed from my bill, something the talk talk agent openly admitted would probably not work.
By this point it was nearly 5:30pm I was no closer to getting my shoddy internet connection fixed and was potentially looking to get a £65 fine for my inconvenience.
I asked to make a formal complaint and was told over the phone, by text and email that someone from complaints would call me the following day between 4pm and 6pm… I am still awaiting the call.
These texts and emails were then followed up with another set to say “we can see that an engineer has been out to you and has fixed the problem, however you may experience some drop out in your connection as the signal adjusts, we are monitoring it”. Honestly talk talk this felt like you were attempting to cover your backs in case I contacted you again to say my internet had dropped out… “oh but Mr Davis an engineer has been out and we informed you this might happen”.
Do engineers normally get to you ten minutes after speaking to talk talk the day before they were supposed to? If so they need a medal for efficiency.
Sorry to ramble on but long story short, DO NOT use talk talk, their service is unreliable and when you do try to fix it it will some how become your problem that you will have to pay for and god forbid you should reach the dreaded “point of no return” that you’re not informed about until after booking an engineer

Never use Talktalk , they recently emailed to say that I was £20 in credit , a result of them charging for whole month when only had service for 10days as moved to new provider . Spent an hour on phone and email trying to get them to refund me , email problem solving hopeless , telephone problem solving hopeless , no apology for holding my money and not returning it , just a shocking company !!

Ive been with Talk Talk for a number of years as Ive previously found them to be a reliable service supplier. However, this recent line fault has shown the very poor side of their customer support. In fairness, they in turn are blaming Openreach for not reacting to my fault and i am in no position to determine who is at fault. My fibre broadband speeds are dreadful <8Mb, the internet keeps freezing or dropping out and our landline is noisy and unable to receive calls. Not getting what Im paying for - that is for sure!

I've been with TalkTalk ever since they existed and while they've had their moments, overall I've few complaints. For at least the past few years they've actually been extremely good and reliable with a speed usually around 35Mbps.
About the only thing that lets them down is their new lousy email page - it's both archaic and awkward to my mind. (Their old one wasn't much better either, to be honest)
Customer service is fairly hard to get hold of but they've been able to sort out the few problems that I've encountered without delay or question.
Overall I, personally, would rate their services as being at least as good as I can expect from any IPS.

broadband was shoddy at best but put up with the indian call centres and endlessly being told to reset the router etc...

but was not to worried as was moving soon
so cancelled contract, paid all fees at the time as i didnt want credit problems.
ultimate piss take was that 2 years later at our new address we started getting letters from a debt collection agency for - yes unpaid cancellation fees. this useless shower of a company is not capable of keeping customer data safe, has the worst service ever, and are not fit to be in business.

in summary a cabbage from your supermarket veg stall would run this company better.

Since making recent speed tests I have realized what low speeds I have been putting up with. Up to the time of the TalkTalk hack on Oct 21st 2015 speeds were just acceptable. At the time I didn't realise how slow my connection was. Since then internet speed has been almost unusable. TalkTalk customer services were attentive and courteous but they seem to have achieved next to nothing in the last two months. Latest test results were:- download 0.17mB upload 0.4mB. I shall contact them again in the morning but don't expect any speedy result. I think it is time to move on.

The worst company I've ever dealt with. The Customer Service based in India is appalling. They cannot be trusted with your personal information and data - this has fallen into the hands of criminals and TalkTalk has been useless in dealing with this - it has compromised my computer causing expense - don't deal with this dodgy, awful company.

Absolutely terrible internet service. I am lucky to have any service at all, constantly rebooting the router and still the internet drops off. The staff are friendly but terrible customer service in terms of helping and calling back. Would not recommend. I asked to cancel, and they told me I would have to pay...even though I have no internet and therefore they are not providing me with a service!!

Absolutely awful company to deal with. customer Service will tell you endless lies to get you to sign a contract, then not deliver on any of the promises they made. They ignore complaints sent through to them, and lie over the phone.

I honestly regret the day i joined with them. I have never dealt with a worse company in any field.

BUYER BEWARE, DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF. RUBBISH.

We have been with talk talk for almost 2 years via our business. We depend on music for our business as we are a very busy running salon and it sets our atmosphere. However, with the network constantly going on and off as you can imagine has been very infuriating. We have been in contact about this matter for over 6 months and has not been resolved until I had mentioned to replace the router. They wanted to charge me £35 with delivery first and changed their mind when I wanted to cancel my service. Hope the new router be a better improvement. At the moment the way we're feeling zero star.

If I could give this less than one star I would. Been absolute nightmare from day one. Internet is on and off all the time. After what felt like 3 days talking to somebody in India, they sent a engineer out for free. He told me that was the best it was going to be as we were too far away from the exchange. They then sent me a bill for £50.00 and after what felt like another 3 days on the phone to India they told me that they had told me it would cost £50.00. Our speed is about 1.2 on a good day. We had sky, moved to talktalk but our internet is nowhere near fast enough for the tele package so that was a waste of time. Dont want to know once you have signed on dotted line, just keep telling me that that I am in 18 month contract. Contract is up in January so I am off asap. Whole experience has been a nightmare. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE = DONT LISTEN TO ADVERTS = ALL LIES

Why did you con me into upgrading to fibre broadband when I wanted to leave talk talk due to slow speeds; with a second con of a 'speed boast' when you knew we don't have fibre optic in our area. Worst still saying I'd get speeds of up to 76mbps and a GUARENTEE of 55mbps. You are an untrustworthy company. With very poor customer service. After one hour and forty minutes on the phone I was left with slower download speeds than when I started. Thanks technical team. Potential customers beware, I strong recommend avoiding talk talk.

Speeds and connection has been good for a month, however we suddenly lost internet and lodged a fault with TalkTalk. They informed us on Friday that the issue was being worked on, then on Saturday we were told that an engineer is working on the issue, and would contact us between 18:00 and 21:00 for an update, which never happened. On Sunday we were told the issue was being worked on and would be fixed by 18:00, and then we were told by a different advisor that infact noone was working on our issue and that openreach does not work weekends (a lie), and that they would start working on the issue on Monday, to be fixed estimated Wednesday. This is unacceptable, and considering BT would fix issues straight away (including weekends) even though both providers use the openreach network, it seems you pay for the cheaper price by having useless support and terrible service. A total of 6 days without internet is costly and damaging for business, so I'd recommend paying the extra tenner a month for a competent provider. Disgraceful and useless service from TalkTalk.

Totally incompetent and useless company who you cannot talk to in England, when you do they don't listen but just read from a crib sheet. Their texting service is near to useless with the person the other end giving wrong information and their automated phone messages also stating wrong dates and times.

Honestly if it were possible to give zero I would. Temperamental connections, total disregard for personal data and the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favour and stay well away from this company unless you want to spend hours of your life in correspondence with them over the slightest issue.

    Terrible company.

They may be cheap but that is because they give you cheap service. Firstly they supply routers that don't work properly we kept getting dropouts and super slow speeds.
Talk talk engineer came out replaced the router....same problems still.

BT engineer came out...couldn't find any problems. With the line.

Signed up to Fibre with talk talk...as we were told that that would solve the slow speed and dropouts.

Fibre was jus as bad, paid for 38mbs download and we got 6mbps maybe 10 and still drop outs....called talk talk....and engineer can come out it we would be charged £65 for the visit.

Called BT 5 minutes later....Fibre broadband for £3 per month more...signed up.

Been with BT 4 weeks with a constant speed of 54mbps download speed and no drop outs.........very interesting.....

AVOID THESE CHEAP COMPANIES GO WITH BT!!!

Painful. Robotic scripts. Robotic call centers with low empathy and huge call handling times. Low effort and urgency to solve problems and problems regularly occur - no understanding of how to solve the issues, just pointless diagnostic tests.

Poor poor poor - I wish I wasn't stuck in contract.

We were previously with Sky, it’s slow Broadband speeds and price was the reason for switching.
TalkTalk had a really good deal and promises fast speeds. I wish I had stayed with Sky. TalkTalk constantly cuts out, it’s so annoying! After having them for a few weeks, I called up to complain. An engineer came to investigate but couldn’t find any issues. I’m still left with awful internet. I really wouldn’t recommend.

One to avoid. Impossible to get hold of during the lockdown (no chat, no phone support, nothing). Staff when you can get hold of them, are friendly enough but cannot help you; ever. They overbill, promise to reimburse and never do. My connection on fibre was dropping out all the time due to REIN issues (admittedly not much TalkTalk can do about it; but Openreach could not help either). So I nneded to go back to an ADSL connection which was hopelessly slow (1Mbps download, non existent upload; i.e. no use if you need to work from home or do anything more than send plain text e-mails). Apparently (according to Openreach mesaurements at the socket) the line delivers 10Mbps but the router blocks most of that to get through. TalkTalk is unable to help; so I must leave.
