Awful company. Broadband service is passable but customer service is appalling. It's practically impossible to reach anyone by phone, the only way to get through the automated answer maze is to pretend you are about to leave them (actually, no longer pretend in my case!).
Ever since we have been with them my husband's name is the main one on the account. Even though we have told them repeatedly to include my name and even set up a password to bypass this they still refuse to talk to me. (The whole set up is a joke as in reality I could get any random man to claim down the line that he is my husband and they would talk to him once they hear a male voice).
The whole set up is a joke. I always ring them promising to be calm and collected and always end the call spitting with frustration and with a pounding headache. Looking for a new provider right now.

AVOID AT ALL COST! Bad connection, constantly contacted them to sort. Finally informed the router was out of date. No new one sent. We are now moving out of the property, tried to cancel the service. Never answer the phone. Esculated a problem, they promised to call on 5 occassions. Never did. Then when we finally made contact they said they had tried to call but no answer! They say they can cancel the account now, but we have to pay a fee and it goes from today (when we have been trying to cancel for a month now). Terrible service, terrible comms, terrible company. AVOID.

my activation date was on the 14th, On the 15th, morning, i had no broardband as was straight onto the phone, few days after i had a TalkTalk openreach technician to my house, who then went on the phone to tell them everything, they escalated the issue to the orders department who rectified my issue on saturday the 18th.

now have flawless internet, customer service was incredibly, very polite and helpful. I chose to give TalkTalk a chance and so far, it seems to be going great.

Wow just wow to how bad talk talk really is if you want to watch movies do not use if you want to go online do not use I have never had a provider with such a ridiculously slow internet speed you ring to ask them to deal with the situation they just fob you off they actually sent an engineer out twice after I stopped my direct debit he ( no word of a lie ) walked in turned the box off turned it back on looked at it said mmmmmm a lot walked away got to the door and said nothing I can do mate il escalate the problem that was 3 months ago worst customer service in the world. Trust me pay the extra money and get a decent provider

I purchased Fibre optic broadband in December and experienced connection drop-outs from the beginning. After being immensely patient for two months I did all the usual checks to no avail. After three months suffering and repeated calls to the help desk, who I must say were really helpful without any kind of end results I eventually got an engineer who confirmed my set-up was perfect. The engineer determined the fault was the router. I then received a text saying the fault was fixed. I called to say it was not then went through all the checks again (FFS!!!) I asked to speak to a manager and eventually got to speak to Mr.RAJAT. I explained the whole scenario. He then understood my frustration and undertook a few remedial checks and agreed with my understanding of the problem, in that the router was the cause of the problem. He acted immediately to dispatch a router with the correct firmware and software to resolve my drop-out issues. 4 days later I received the upgraded router and all drop-out issues have been resolved so far. I am receiving a reasonable speed and reliability at the moment. Mr. RAJAT has been the only person on the help desk to understand and resolve my technical issues. Give him my sincere gratitude and you may wish to give him a bonus because I was at the end of my tether and would have left Talk Talk if it wast not for his good work. Thank you.

Have tested speeds with numerous test sites, all show much lower speeds than Talk Talk test shows,is this a coincident? I think not.
Customer service is appalling once hooked, takes months and hours of calls to rectify problems mostly getting billing wrong.Cant wait until contract runs out so that I can change suppliers. This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with over fifty years of buying services.

Have been with TalkTalk since July 2009. Supose to have gone livein the July I eventually got my router in August only after I told them I was cancelling with them, Someone had not orderd it, had to call them around 8 times about this and blatently lied to all but the last time when i was phoning to cancel. Billing a joke had to cancel my direct debit with my bank and in the end change my bank as they were trying from the oct of 2009 to take the money from my account day's earlier than dd set up for so i was getting hit for nonpayment by them and bank charges because of the nonpayment also late payment fees by talktalk. it was costing me around £200pa to have talktalk dd. Upgraded computers april 2010 have had no security from them since then but still being billed for it even now, TT ask me to switch fromn essentials to pluss package in August 2010 still waiting and being charged for the download boost that was cancelled when I agreed to switch£4.00pm + the£2.00pm for security. I am promissed at least twice a month that i have been switched over when i have not been so still being charged for calls that should be cheaper or free. Router went down 18th sept 2010 bought my own got fed up with waiting for equivilent to be dispatched got that Jan this year from them. Been disconnected twice even though bill was paid. To be honest for a comunication company the dont communicate with each other or the customer. They have failed to honner there contrat with me from July 2009 yet threaten me when i say im wanting mac code to go else where I believe i would be with in my rights to walk from the last5 months of this contract i have never recieved any appologies or real offers of compensation from them. I desperatly want a new Provider and soon as they just talk but dony doMy oppinion of them is rubbish all this is factual not like them fictional in there stories to cover there backs sorry but the customer is not ever right in there eyes incompedent

First to say, we're a long way from the exchange, with a copper wire connection, but, having swapped to BT, it seems that our frequent disconnections must have been due to Talk Talk, and not the line, which remains the same but has worked well ever since. Our problems started when Talk Talk took over our broadband from AOL. We started having regular disconnections. Someone said it's because Talk Talk try to connect many more users to the same server. Either way, our service became ever more unreliable, and every time we phoned about it we had to spend a frustrating hour or so going through the same rigmarole. Eventually we asked to leave, and had to endure weeks of pressure and guile from Talk Talk's 'Loyalty' department, as well as having even more disconnections - I think to make us phone up again for another session of 'But if we fixed it, why wouldn't you stay with us...?' I don't think you can blame Talk Talk staff, who seem to have to follow processes. I think it must be top management who have numbers/ short-term gains in mind, with no interest in customer service or customer satisfaction.

My problem is not with talktalk but with the failure by openreach to maintain my line. I used to be able to get 3.5 mbps some years ago, but open reach's failure to fix problems on my line mean I now get 2.2 to 2.5mbps.

We used talk talk, and their broadband was unreliable and very slow. Often we had no broad band. Then we were gong to move house and called talk talk to change over. As they were unable to supply our new address I requested a cancellation of the contract. They failed to cancel the contract, so I called again to request the contract cancellation. We then moved house, yet each month I received a new bill and each month called to cancel the contract. After six months I asked for help from the ombudsman. It took a further six months for them to admit fault. I must have spent days on the phone with talk talk (all charged) most definitely feel as if I have been fleeced by them and will never use them again.

If I could give a 0 I would. Me and my partner have been with talk talk for over 2 years now and we've had nothing but trouble! Firstly, our internet Wouldnt connect displaying a orange flashing light, after contacting the call center and having to pull apart the connection box, they decided to send a new router out. Which worked perfect for about 3 weeks, then it happened again. After spending 2hours on a live chat to be cut off before any action was taken, we decided to ring them which took over an hour! So after 3hours or phone calls and live chats we asked for an engerieer to come out and was told if there was a problem caused by us we would be charged £65 for service charges. The engerieer came and was gob smacked with how eroded our connection box was due to it being so old. We have no just discovered we have been charged £65 for the service charge, despite the problem not being our fault at all. After all of this, we asked for a refund for then £65 taken from our account and money knocked off our next bill due to us not having internet access for over 2weeks which they declined doing either. Usually wouldn't bother us, but due to the current pandemic we are all going through, me and my partner are currently working from home so we rely on having internet access! Would NOT recommend, stay away!

Appalling service. Customer service is disgusting, awful. Go live date changes several times, 3 weeks it took them even then it didn't go live fully. Rang several times and they all said the same thing yes we will cancel it within 24hrs which they still had not done after the 5th time of making contact. I wouldn't recommend to anyone at all ever!

It should be called 'Customer Dis-service' they will never give the correct info, pass you on to another dept as they dont want to help. They basically try and make the customer do ALL the work. On par with Local Councils efficiency at best!!

    Constant connection problems.
Foreign call centre workers without a clue who sound like they're at a noisy party.
I was disconnected on the same day I received their letter wrongly claiming there were no funds in my bank account.
The only positive thing I can say is when I manage to get online the speed seems to be consistent, apart from that TalkTalk are the pits.
After four months I intent to cancel my contract and count my losses.
    Please avoid.

I was given a start date when I joined but the set up guide was very limited and unhelpful and there was no info about setting up an email address through Windows mail.. When I looked for a technical helpline there wasn't one so I had to ask through the online forum - the "Talktalk community."
I entered all the relevant settings but still cannot set up a Talktalk email account yet I set up an outlook.com account in seconds. Strange.
Talktalk then decided to disconnect me on the same day I was sent a warning letter wrongly telling me there was insufficient funds in my bank account. Thanks guys.
I have had constant connection problems since day one. I altered the router standby settings to 'always on' yet it still disconnects every few days. I have phoned the well intentioned but useless technical staff in Talktalk's Indian call centre who ran tests and told me the fault would be rectified within 72 hrs, it wasn't. Withiin hours I received text after text asking if my problem had been resolved - "Please text FIXED or NOT FIXED" etc.
The only positive point about my experience with Talktalk is that the speed seems to be consistent so far.
I was well and truly taken in by Talktalk's £3 a month, unlimited downloads promise but should have known better from a company who don't even offer free evening and weekend calls with their basic package.
After four months I now intend to cancel my contract and count my losses.
    Please avoid.

I signed up with TalkTalk as Virgin couldn't provide broadband at the new flat. It was supposed to go live on 7 August but when I tried to use the internet, it became clear it wasn't working. I called customer service, but despite spending over half an hour on the phone with them, the issue wasn't resolved. She said she'd need to book a BT engineer and one could come Wednesday. I said that was fine, provided it was after 5pm as I had to go to work as I couldn't work from home due to lack of broadband. She said she'd book a PM slot and the engineer would call on the day to confirm the exact time. I stressed to her it would need to be after 5pm so I was surprised when I got a call on the Wednesday at 12.45pm from the engineer saying he'd be there at 1pm. I told him I wouldn't be at home and I'd requested for after 5pm. He said BT engineers don't work after 5pm so TalkTalk shouldn't have agreed to that. I was then sent a text message saying they were working on the issue and they didn't need access. Following this, I complained to the CEO and eventually managed to speak to someone on the Thursday and she also told me access wasn't needed at this stage but if it was, when would I be available. I told her Saturday and after 5pm. She said that wouldn't be possible and I'd need to take time off work. I told her that if I were to use my holiday entitlement on something that wasn't my fault, to fix something that should have been working from day one and that was most definitely not a holiday, I would want compensation because the holiday has a monetary value. She refused that. Later that afternoon I then got a call from someone saying they needed to book an appointment with an engineer, so I asked her to reconfirm with the previous person because they'd given my inaccurate information before and they'd told me access wasn't needed. I cannot rate speed or reliability as I don't have broadband and still waiting to find out whether access is needed or not and when broadband will be up and running.
This is by far the worst service I've ever had from a utility provider so stay well clear.

We decided to switch from Virgin Media to TalkTalk due to slow speed and increasing charges with their broadband. Unfortunately TalkTalk, having promised higher speeds, access to i player etc is actually slower and the you view box does not work? The customer service has been very poor in trying to improve the situation. What next?

What can I say? Talk Talk are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Not just the worst broadband company, the worst company I've dealt with, EVER.

My new router was dropping out around three times an hour - in response (when I finally got through to customer services in India) they sent their 'self employed' engineers who claimed the fault was in my house and kept charging me £50 as a result. I argued successfully according their own T&C's that as the fault was reoccurring either the engineers hadn't fixed the fault (why was I charged £50 then?) or, the fault wasn't really on my premises and again, why was I charged £50? After the third useless engineer (who did nothing more than change a filter), Openreach sorted the fault on the line in the street. It took FOUR visits over nearly 12 months to get this sorted.

During this time I was given excuses for poor service that ranged from my telephone interfering with my broadband to my neighbour's plasma TV (I asked the chap in India how he knew my neighbour had a plasma TV at which point he terminated the call). Other excuses included my heating thermostat, microwave and my router (they ended up sending me three - none of which made any difference). It was all total nonsense designed to brush me off.

I managed to get my money back from the engineer visits and got a small amount of compensation and an upheld complaint from the telecommunications ombudsman due to poor customer service. (The complaint took 7 months to go through the system during which time Talk Talk tried to buy me off with extra TV packages that they were offering free to others anyway - I didn't accept). I was told by the person at the Ombudsman service that Talk Talk receive more complaints than any other company for awful customer service. Unfortunately I wasn't able to prove that Talk Talk had lost my personal data in one of their four DATA HACK sagas even though I had scammers regularly phoning me up who were able to quote my account number and other details held by Talk Talk. (I still get people phoning claiming to be from Talk Talk even though I am with a different provider. It's quite funny now stringing them along while they try and get me to install some 'important' software to 'fix things' on my PC).

Luckily I was able to terminate my contract early without penalty because they hiked up their prices. (They claim 'without penalty' but they demanded their TV box back or they were going to charge me £200). They alter the definitions in their own terms & conditions liberally (see other forums about people who have been told to send their box back or pay £200 even though they have met the terms of their contract and should be able to keep it - typical Talk Talk).

Talk Talk - DON'T TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE even if they offer really cheap deals.

Well, I moved from BT to Talktalk and wish I hadn't the service is shocking given a date for connection, in which they missed the migration date, leaving me without any phone services. After 7 phone calls to the customer service department in India, we're I was treated as if they could not care less if I was conected or not. On the 7th phone whilst I was talking to a manager about my concerns I was told the same think ie it's BT's fault and to wait 48 hrs to get a connection. This simply was not good enough, this would have been a week since my go live date. In the same call I decided to cancel the service as it sounded that it was never going to happen and was transferred to the cancellation department, where it was cancelled then to be told that there will be no charges. Stunned and shocked the other day to find that I received a letter stating that I owe them £270.81 for the privilege of all the hassle....which is just a joke, as od yet I'm still waiting to sort it out! My advice STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!

Been with TT for as long as I can remember. When I left the family home my ex wanted to go with bt so the account was cancelled at the start of December. Told by an operator that Dec was last bill so paid that then cancelled direct debit. Then had another bill in january told not to worry about it and the bill will be amended. Another bill in Feb+non payment fee. Paid that. Got another bill again for £55 even though the account is cancelled? The operators don't have a clue. They read off a script. I just what away from this company

I wish I visited this site before signing up for a broadband with them. Pretty much everything described here happened to me! Will be fighting for feeless cancellation tho as they haven't provided me with the service promised so by the law I'm entitled to free cancellation even after the period of 20 days. I'd advise all the rest of you do the same. If it's many of us, they will have to do the right thing

I couldn't even make it as a new customer with TalkTalk! I tried twice, but both times (having provided all the information they required and setting up a new Direct Debit, they cancelled on me, sending me an email saying please call to ensure completion of cancellation (which I did not instigate). None of the automatic menus on offer allowed me to do what I needed to do, then the person I spoke to was rude and said that calling was not what the email said (specific wording was "We're sorry that you've decided to cancel your order. Please call us on 0345 172 0088* to ensure your cancellation is completed.").

I will NEVER contemplate TalkTalk again, and will advise ANYONE who asks to walk away from them

I have NEVER been so DISGUSTED with a service as I have with Talk Talk!
Their service is NOT a service.
I am owed £40.04 credit, which they will not return.
I left because the service was sub standard constantly losing broardband connection.
I DO NOT BELIEVE I WILL EVER RECEIVE A REFUND.
HENCE TALK TALK ARE ALSO LIERS AND CHEATS.
I am disgusted having spent copious hours with no success trying to retrieve what is m8ne.
    Shame on you Talk Talk
