Switched to SSE from plusnet. So far 3rd week without broadband. Once you get through to support (on average 40 min wait) they fob you off and say nothing can be done at all. If you are OK to be without internet access for a month when switching to SSE, then this is company for you. Been their customer for only 3 weeks and really regrety decision to go with them.

Having got fed up with BT's never ending stealth price rises, I looked for alternatives.
For £12 per month line rental with free, unlimited broadband this seems too good to be true.
It's actually much better than I expected.
I know they do traffic management, but I haven't been aware of it happening here yet.

After waiting over 6 weeks for the Fibre broadband transfer from EE to be connected, i told them i would be on holiday on the 21st of July they said no problem your connection will still go live as i told them that i had fibre connected before with EE. when i got back i had an answerphone message from a BT engineer saying that we weren't in. Regardless to that i plugged everything in to find fibre speeds of 34mb. Happy customer to that point then on Wednesday the 5th of August i lose my DSL light, ring them the next day to find out that i didn't have a BT engineer call and they automatically disconnected me. Asking for a manager I got a guy called Gary, who promised me that they could fast track it and get it reconnected the following week. I rang Friday to find out that this would then take two weeks, ok i said i need some kind of internet they promised me a dongle to be sent down by Tuesday. Tuesday came and no dongle arrived. Waited another 20 mins on hold for a different manager to promise it me the next day. the day before the connection i rang to make sure if somebody needed to be in the house for the BT engineer, i got told no its fine as its been working before. connection day happens and now i am connected by i am told that BT have to sign it off within 10 days otherwise i will be disconnected again! Ring Gary up again saying that i will cancel, get a promise that it will be sorted with there provider, I asked if this was BT and i got told no they use another provider? So they are piggy backing on another providers internet servers and then they have got to sort out internet. The place is a shambles nobody talks to you if you want to find something out you have to wait for 20 minutes and then get promised things that doesn't happen! I have never needed a BT engineer to plug in Fibre before and when i have had problems in the past other companies have sorted this directly with BT. It's a funny story as i have been connected twice and it working just in 10 days i know i am going to lose it for 10 days.

A bit nervous about taking up the offer from SSE for Broadband and phone with weekend calls as was with BT and everything had always worked.

Transfer of phone went ahead smoothly and on time, Broadband delayed about a week - SSE said it was because of demand for their product which I can believe.

Since Broadband has transferred I am receiving exactly the same speed as I was getting with BT. The line is stable and I haven't noticed any scaling back of speed at busy times. We watch Netflix alot and the picture quality has been the same and there are no buffering issues.

Now really pleased that I transferred and am saving lots of money compared to BT, also used Quidco and am hopefully getting £50 cashback. Bargain.

    Go for it.

It took eight weeks for them to install BB, after many phone calls & promised dates I had about given up then hey presto my BB connected but they forgot to tell me!! They offered a little compensation but the the size of my mobile phone bill it doesn't do justice, my opinion don't bother, cheaper is not always the best

Having got cheesed off with the 'special offers' that BT was offering me to stay with them that were higher than I was already paying them for a dreadful service (home hub requiring rebooting many times a day etc.), I swapped to SSE. After two months I cannot say that I can say anything other than it seems to work better than the previous BT ADSL service. The changeover was effortless and the only times I rang them to enquire about personalising the modem I was dealt with by someone who was very clued up (UK call centre). My previous BT speed was 6-7Mbps and the same line with SSE regularly gives 10-12Mbps.
When the line went down (an ongoing fault from BT days), the Openreach technician appeared within a day and spent a generous hour or two fixing the wiring problem to the premises.
The only two negative observations thus far: it is time-consuming to ring their faults line (they should have a separate number for telephone and internet) and if you want to have the number displayed facility on your phone, the cost of this with SSE is above the norm of others. I am encouraged enough to now swap the connection at our Scottish home to SSE.

Same as other complaints - I used to get 10mb with my other supplier now at peak times lucky to get 1mb and often down to 0.5 with constant drop outs - if you want easy cheap broadband on a budget then great if you need any sort of speed or reliability look elsewhere.

Changed over from BT Broadband today - a couple of hiccups in getting the service going but then got sorted late afternoon. So far, so good - unlimited data, super fast broadband and half the price I was previously paying. My BT service has always been good but I was paying over £50 a month for the service which I can't afford to do now.

FANTASTIC! - I now have SSE super fast broadband running a week after they installed a new phone line. They did all the work switching me from old provider, Two engineer visits ALL FREE - two years broadband ALL FREE - UK support line that is great, well maybe hanging on for a while listening to a robot, but they do answer and are very very helpful.

I recommend SEE BROADBAND to anyone - and I am usually a complainer about poor service.

Switch for broadband & voice went well. Everything works well EXCEPT broadband speed is poor. Don't expect to watch iPlayer in HD much of the time. I used to get 9-10Mb/s, now get about 3Mb/s but still get 9-10Mb/s only at quiet times. I guess you get what you pay for. Unable to contact broadband support as they are too busy. Promised a callback which hasn't happened.

Very pleased so far (this is day 1 of having broadband with SSE in a new property). Given the deal currently on offer (ie 'free' for 2 years with 12 pounds lines rental), there seems to be a backlog (I waited 5 weeks to be up and running). When you order, you need to let the 14-day cooling off period pass before they can do anything with your activation, the phone line is then activated 7 days later, then the broadband around another 7 days after that. Mine was a little longer, as unbeknown to me, once the phone line is activated, you actually need to call up and place the broadband order (as, apparently, would have been advised in the welcome letter which I never received). Luckily, I found all this out by weekly calls to get status updates). I must say though, every time I called their call centre, every operator was fantastic - they took the time to go through my query methodically, were friendly, and gave me confidence that, although there was a back-log, my order was being worked on and gave me estimated dates for completion. I've now got my broadband up and running, and all is good, hopefully it remains so.

6 weeks after signing up for SSEs phone and broadband deal I cannot comment on speed or reliability because it's still not working. Ours was treated as new install and that was good because the internal cables where probably 1960s GPO. Eventually we received an install date I had to travel 350 miles home from Scotland to make sure I was there for the engineer because they threatened 108 pounds bill if no one was in. I sat in for 5 hours and no one came. Eventually called them to be told it had been switched on exchange, flipping heck had they told us I needn't have travelled, it had probably been switched on days before when my partner received an unsolicited call from Indian call centre. They must have known a number to call but sse didn't tell us. The phone couldn't phone out but eventually I'd to call to ask for new number. Made complaint got long letter back dealing my complaint but nothing else. Broadband router received 7 or 8 days later remember they promise 5 but instructions said don't install till you get code on separate letter. It never came. Eventually called them to be told it didn't need one. Hours on phone to them explanation after explanation and still no broadband. My advice folks look elsewhere for experienced provider .
