it is all about sales with virgin , i have the top 50mb package at 45 pounds on it own and never have had anywher near this speed on avg over 26 weeks my speed was 11mb, virgin unhelpfull staff point out that 50mb is not what was promised at all, it is up to 50, not 50, most expensive but no where near the best, if the drinks industy sold beer in up to a pint but only supplied a pint once in a blue moon no one would buy beer, out and out dishonest

The last couple of months the speed has been consistant but before that it dropped to below 1mb. Oly 1 of the Virgin 'Techs' did any thing but the minimum to help.

I am paying for 20mbps. I struggle to get above 6.6. The Modem was replaced 6 months ago and again its messing around. Customer service is automated system with an average of 45minutes hold listening to brain damaging music. When you get through they want your home wired network pulled apart and the modem plugged in directly.

The service is unreliable. Every couple of months it is unavailable for extended periods i.e. greater than 6 hours. It is almost impossible to speak to anyone in customer services and normally takes at least 10 minutes before you can get through. When you finally get through all they do is book an engineer which is normally not for another 2 or 3 days by which time the problem has often disappeared. Customer services are never able to tell you what the problem is or when it will be resolved.

Enquired re slow optical speed. Received a very lenghty email asking me to do various tests including entering DOS. Unbelievable !!! Sent a Email back expressing my disbelief but unsurprisingly I have not received a reply.

Having spend countless hours trying to resolve an issue with intermittent broadband connection for more than two months, we eventually got an engineer to confirm that my equipment was not at fault and that there was an outdoor fault somewhere. A temporary cable was installed to bypass a suspect cable under the garden. He arranged for another crew to attend in October to replace the cable for which they are hoping (misguidedly) to dig up the concrete path. They go under the path or not at all and I don't believe the fault is there or the temporary cable would have cured it!

The fibre optic speeds never reach 20MB which I have paid for, but averages between 10-13MB (download speeds) but about 10MB over wireless. It is expensive for the speed paid for. Should be cheaper by £5 or so per month. Reliability of service is not good as BT but of a sufficient standard that you live with especially if you have to work from home sometimes.

I have been with Virgin Media now for Broadband since approximately June 09, and so far my experiences have been to the highest quality. The service was fitted and within 1 hour the Broadband connection was running at top speed, hitting a speed test of 9.76Mbps constant for the following hours. The only problem I have ever had with the service was for approximately 10 minutes when I had a speed decrease to 3.24Mbps, this was due to a hardware malfunction and nothing to do with the connection.

Virgin upped the payments on broadband and said it is because we were to get faster broadband this is not so.when phoning they say it will be in the area soon. They put the price up in May. this is now August and still no faster broadband.

after speaking to my broadband supplier the speed miraculously increased to 17meg on a 20meg paid for service - However it is useful to point out that this is "Throttled down" during peak periods- approx 6pm to 11pm evry weekday night

Cable broadband rocks!, Ok I'm a little old to say "rocks" with any real conviction, but at least it works how it's supposed to, I pay for 10mb and get 9.8 (which is, lets face it, close enough).
