    Disgusting! From waiting a month for the router no internet connection for a week when we eventually receive the box! My husband had to fix it!then hidden charges! 2 hours on hold rude obnoxious telephone handlers! We were told £17.99 then bill is £73.! Absolutely appalling and wont let us cancel! Stay away!!!

    Appalling customer service. Never call back when they say they will. They do not reply to emails. Endlessly put on hold. Be warned DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!! They have taken my money and I still do not have broadband...they still can't tell me when it will be connected. RUBBISH

    Abysmal.
    On the day of connection the internet did not work. On the day after it did not work.
    I managed to get through to technical support after a long wait and they were able to make some changes and the internet started working. Happy days!
    However I then found that every 30 minutes or so the internet stopped working, I had to keep rebooting the router. I thought this might settle down but it continued. I tried to call technical support and was on hold for 52 minutes and then was cut off!
    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The internet service doesn't work and you can't get through to technical support. At a loss what to do and have no internet at home!!!

    Had problems since day 1, wish I never signed up. When I ordered the service I did not hear a peep for over a month, until I got a call to say that BT would be connecting my line the next week. Their communication is abysmal, I received no email or anything from them even after the line was set up, luckily I am technical so was able to set the router up myself. The line was connected on 18th Jan but I experience drop outs every 30 minutes on average, sometimes every two minutes in the evenings. Every time I try and call tech support I wait for 30 to 40 minutes before I get mad at the phone not being answered and hang up. I don't have time to be wasting on the phone like that! No matter what time of day I call, I experience these wait times. I have tried mornings, afternoons and very late in the evenings, on weekdays and weekends. Yesterday I reached the end of my tether and spoke to customer services to cancel the line and the woman told me that I would have to pay upwards of £300! When I asked her for what (as I am on the deal that you paid £172 for the year) she vaguely suggested "services". Totally ridiculous. She said that if I wanted to leave the contract I had to raise the issue with tech support and if they don't sort it within 8 weeks, then I can leave. I said how am I supposed to raise the issue with tech support if I cannot get through on the phone?

    Eventually she gave me an e-mail address to send logs to but I am not holding out any hope of ever receiving a response.

    DO NOT go with Origin - you will regret it. Go with a provider who actually are able to answer the phone to provide support!

    I have to tell you how disappointed and annoyed with Origin I am ,for an award winning company I can’t believe how bad the service has been and continues to be .
    Decided to change from John Lewis ( no problems ever ) to Origin ( on price ) at the end of Nov 2016, received confirmation email telling me I was in the system, then nothing for weeks ,no communication at all, no router nothing , apart from a survey email asking for ratings , I phoned Origin 23rd Dec ( 1¼hours ) to find out what was happening, nice polite chap told me I was booked in for Jan 5th 2017 fine.
    7.45am Jan 5th morning Open Reach engineer called me and said would call and fit line ? Already got good line, after he was finished, I was told that I would keep my existing phone number which was important to me as many of my business contacts phone me at home on this number.
    I phoned Origin (1½ hours) that day to enquire about a router as I still had not received, a few days later still no router.
    I noticed that I had not received any phone calls from anyone, so I phoned my land-line from my mobile, I couldn't get through because my number had changed without anyone telling me ! .
    Phoned Origin ( 2¼hours ) Jan 7th to try to sort out, polite but ,no help, no router.
    Thursday 12th two routers turn up in same post both set to old number, phoned Origin again ( 2 hours ) but did get working, no luck getting old number back, was told would get a call back from tech team , nothing, 13th Jan I phoned ( 2½ hours ) again still no luck getting number back ,14th Jan tried “live chat” on web site ( 1¾ hours ) was told ( politely) would get a call on Monday 16th from tech team ,still waiting for that.
    So after all this stress I should be getting good broadband speeds ? No chance, download speed between 0.44 / 0.99 mbps / upload 0.30 – 0.34 ping 58.50- 64.50ms ( BT test ) wired to router in evening , which makes it very slow to use , used to get about 1.2 -1.5 so never very good, but just about useable, just can’t find the enthusiasm to phone again and waste a few more hours of my life on hold listening to Brain Blessed telling me they have had better days .
    I can honestly say I wish I had not changed to this company, I also feel that I would be justified to cancel my contract without penalty and be reimbursed any monies already paid if these problems are not resolved in a reasonable time and manner ,starting with an apology .

    I have been waiting for a connection since October 2 routers later my son still can't watch anything on youtube they told me I was in contact for 18 months even though I have not been able to use Internet they told me only way would be to get fibre so here I am waiting for another weekend for it to be fixed when you call your on hold for over a hour then cut off no call back rubbish company feel trapped in to longer more expensive contract

    connection date came and went, after hours of being left on hold i was told there was a technical problem which could take upto 8 weeks to resolve, told them i would like to cancel just to been told it would cost me over £200 even tho my service as never started, how can that be right?? my advice is to avoid this company and go with a well known named company instead ,

    I was supposed to be connected on 5/12/16. Hub had arrived. BT were to connect line, they came as arranged. Told me line allocated was in use elsewhere so would need another engineer & that would be done in 24hrs. I am still waiting! Have contacted Origin customer service & I have to say they are more than helpful. They are unfortunately at the bottom of the line as far as BT/Open Reach are concerned! BT, TalkTalk, & whoever else come before Origin! Sad, but that's the way it works apparently.
    I unfortunately will be requesting a refund for my paid up front & unused line rental.
    (Please note: I already have broadband supplied by Origin for another property which I am more than happy with but already had a phone line in use)

    This company is an absolute joke!
    I moved to a new area and needed fiber, on finding a deal I rang to see if I could go for the deal, the lady I spoke with ( Rachel ) told me everything I wanted to hear and said I would have no activation fees, within a couple of days I received a text to say £48 pounds would be taken from my account I rang to find out what for and was told it was my activation fee??? I refused to pay it and asked them to look at the notes of all I had been sold they then kindly offered I pay the £48 in instalments, which I kindly refused and asked to close my account, it was then that I found out they don't even cover my area for fiber and I had been signed up for regular broadband but paying the amount I had agreed??? I am currently awaiting the money they did take off of me to be returned and after cancelling the broadband with no apologies or explanation as to why I had been misled I had to phone the company two more times to get conformation that the account was actually closed!
    I would seriously avoid the company they are a complete waste of time!

    Terrible company. Avoid. My download speed is noticeable slower than with SKY. After hanging on for 45 mins on the phone I gave up. I then got through after hanging on for another 45 mins.
    I also sent an email and I have never received a reply to this date.
    The prices are pretty good but avoid this company. I made the mistake of deciding to support a smaller provider. Don't waste your time with this lot.

    I signed up to Origin at the start of November, paying for a year line rental and broadband in advance. Apart from a payment receipt, I received no correspondence from Origin regarding my switch. I had to contact them to arrange the switch date. When this date came, my broadband disconnected from my previous provider but I could not connect to Origin as they hadn't supplied the username and password for the connection. After live chatting online, this was supplied. A few weeks later, my previous provider tells me that only the broadband switched, not the line rental. Therefore, I had to contact Origin again to get this switched. It was done three weeks after the broadband, in which time my previous provider was billing me at their full price. To add salt into the wounds, Origin then sent me an incorrect bill. Not only were they billing me (at a random amount of £9.99 per month) for a period I had already paid for upfront, they included several weeks when my previous supplier was billing me. The telephone service was almost useless when I called to query this bill. Needless to say, I cancelled the direct debit as I have already prepaid for my service. As soon as the contract ends, I will be switching away.

    Worst service ever. Purchased the yearly broadband package way before Christmas and than I was told no broadband will be installed before January.
    Tried to recover my money which goes extremely slow.

    Avoid.Avoid,Avoid.
    Bunch of amateurs with terrible customer respond/service

    Still waiting for my money, absolutely unacceptable.

    At this point Origin have effectively stolen £18 from me. I bought one of their packages online on the 4th of November las year, and despite repeated calls to their call centres (along with spending a total of over an hour on hold), each time I was promised a connection date yet nothing would happen afterward. One month later I had still not received any communication about when my activation might take place, so I rang up, and said I expected a refund and for my contract to be cancelled or I would get trading standards involved. Despite a promise over the phone that a refund would be issued, I so far have still not had my money back nor any written confirmation that my account is closed. Do yourselves a favour and avoid these complete wastes of space for your own sanity

    Pros: Good value for money, good router, very easy to set up, reliable adsl service so far.
    Cons: wait for 15-20 min every time you need them (billing and technical service onevtime each) I have the basic ADSL but I'm getting 3-5mb/s compared with 6-8 with plusnet my previous provider.

    Tried to buy Origin. No answer on 1st Jan. No answer on 2nd Jan on Chat or phone line. I know it's a bank holiday but NO staff?
    Queried on Chat whether Talk talk router is suitable. No answer, so so much for 24/7/365. Looks as if they are simply not ready to work across UK. A pity.

    I ordered on 30 november. After 1 month I haven't received any service or email yet, but got charged straight away via direct debit. Customer service (web chat) is always answered by the same person (Angelina) who I keep chasing myself. The first time I contacted her, she told me that I would go live within 3 weeks. Today she tells me that the engineer will activate my phone line tomorrow and that the go live date takes another 7 working days after the phone activation. I told her I would cancel everything if I don't get broadband soon and she immediately threatened me with charging costs. I find that very customer unfriendly! So far I'm not pleased. I will write another review lateron with the outcome.

    I joined Origin on 07/12/16 and paid a year in advance including one year anytime calls.
    I paid a total of £232.49. My contract ends with my current provider in 3 days.
    Origin have not been in contact with my current provider so I will have to continue paying my current provider.
    I contacted Origin on the 21/12/16 to find out what was happening and why I had heard nothing. They said they would look into it. Again nothing happened and no contact from Origin. I have today spoke to a chap at Origin who although very polite and apologetic was unable to tell me why nothing has been done or why my current provider has not been contacted or why the woman I spoke to on the 21/12/16 has done nothing to rectify the situation.
    Origin have not contacted me at all since they emailed a receipt for the £232.49 three weeks ago.
    I will keep you updated. Although I will probably demand a full refund within the next week as this company in my opinion is unprofessional and is quick to take money only.

    Signing up with Origin was easy online. However still no router a couple of days before "switch-over" day. However, a quick call (ditch the Brian Blessed menu voice please!) got all-systems go and switch over was seamless. Great responsive service. However, I note the line does drop frequently (only for a few minutes several times per day) which didn't happen with previous ISP. Great job tho, well done and great value BB.

    I've been using Origin Broadband now for 5 or so years and I would thoroughly recommend them.

    The connection is both fast and reliable. My house sometimes has 3 people watching 3 different streaming HD videos without any problem. When I've occasionally checked the broadband speed with an online checking service the speed has always been very close to what it is meant to be.

    On the rare occasions I've had to contact them I particularly like the staff. They are sincere and polite and most importantly seem to know exactly what they are talking about.

    Unlike the bigger providers the service is also uncensored so you can visit any site you please.

    The modem-router that comes with the service is a good quality model (I got a decent Asus model) which has lots of options and is well above the basic models.

    The cost is probably a bit more than some other companies but for me the extra cost is justified by the good service I get.

    Origin offer an excellent service. I have been with them for over 18 months. Never had any problems service wise and when something went wrong they were very efficient and kept me informed. Speed is only an issue I think due to issues outside their remit.

    My speed is limited by the BT copper wire - so it's rubbish. Origin has first class customer service enabling even a dummy like me to connect successfully. They are half the price of Talk Talk and the provider, Fleur, who Talk Talk passed me over too when they lost interest in my simple needs. I'm very happy with Origin - half the price and far better customer service. Speed is the same as Talk Talk because of BT. Max is 6 per sec.

    Cannot fault Origin for tech support and customer service ... been a customer for almost 2 years with only minor problems with connection, but all were sorted out quickly and without any fuss. Keeping my business local is also important to me.

    I have always lived in a house where I was able to get Virgin Media but when I moved to a location where VM was not possible I started looking for an ISP which was cheap but not a mainstream one.
    I first went with Sky for a year however and although the reliability was good I purely got this as it was part of the TV package. When I decided I didn't watch enough TV to warrant the cost.
    So I started looking for a new ISP and after much searching I stumbled across Origin on Openreach's web site.
    When I had a look at them the price for their Fibre broadband was the best so I decided to go with them.
    I decided to get get my own router and set that up rather than take the one they provided as I had heard it was a fairly cheap one. Doing this cost me an extra £60 but in the long run I think it's worth it.

    I had a bit of trouble when I was getting the internet activated however this was an OpenReach issue but Origins support were Fantastic. I had no queues to wait in. Was straight through to a UK call centre and they had OpenReach fixing the issue within 2 working days.
    I have had one outage in 9 months, again I phoned their support and was straight through, we did some diagnostics and they were able to rectify the issue.

    The internet is not a perfectly oilled machine it breaks but at least you know with Origin they'll get you back up and running as quick as possible

    Technical services are brilliant also.

    We've had a few issues with our broadband, and - when you can actually get through to speak to a human about them - Origin have very effectively solved them for us. However, you are likely to spend 20+ minutes on hold, waiting to speak to someone. Also, there is often absolutely no response through the online chat support, which is very frustrating.

    On the whole I've been very pleased with Origin. Only one problem whilst I've been with them and that was caused by Openreach wire failure outside the house.
    I'd have to say that Origin's customer service in dealing with this issue was very good indeed. A British person at the end of the phone who actually listened when I explained the problem and didn't spend hours making me repeat pointless tests as has been my experience with non UK call handlers at TalkTalk in the past. It was so refreshing.
    Line speed is not fantastic, however it is just the same as all my previous providers, not surprising since it's using the same Openreach infrastructure, so really not Origin's fault.
    On the whole I'm very happy with Origin thus far.

    I went with this broadband company because the package on offer was very good. Not having heard of this company before, I was apprehensive. But I have been extremely impressed with them. Their service providers are friendly and helpful and the overall broadband connection and reliability service is great. Would have no hesitation in recommending Origin to friends and family.

    I have been with Origin Broadband (BB) for several years. They are a small player in the BB market place. And that's one reason I like them.

    We need to maintain choice for those who want to avoid the behemoths of BT, Virgin, Talk Talk and Sky, etc.
    - so that is one reason to give them a go.

    But most importantly they deliver on all the aspects of a BB service that count - speed & reliability (excellent), while Customer and Technical Support is outstanding.

    They provide the kind of support you only wish for from all other enterprises you rely on so much like banks and government agencies. Their support is awesome!

    And all of this comes at a price that is competitive.

    If you want a great speed, great service and all at a price that stays competitive over the long term, please give Origin Broadband a chance.

    The best thing about Origin is that they respond quickly to emails and chat. And, they have thinking human beings who respond, who talk to you as human beings, rather than throwing "polite" nonsense at you, and they solve the problems.
