    1. On the 03.05.2017, I telephoned sky to inform that my internet was down.
    2. I was asked to do a few checks ie switch off everything, re start everything which I did and the Internet remained off.
    3. I was asked to get a screw driver and unscrew a BT box in my lounge.
    4. I told the Sky representative on the phone that I would not do this as I have no experience or permission to be dismantling a BT box. I said I was not an engineer and did not want things hanging untidily in my lounge if I was unable to put it all back together again as I was not qualified to do this. I have my own business and rely on the internet so need it desperately to respond to emails etc!
    5. The sky representative asked me to hold whilst she spoke to her manager.
    6. She came back to the phone and told me that I either opened this box or risked no further action being taken as Sky could not send out an engineer with out such checks being done.
    7. I absolutely felt bullied into doing something I did not feel competent or comfortable doing.
    8. I informed the Sky representative that I was not happy with what she was asking me to do and stated she would not behave this way if I was someone of a higher profile. I could not understand why I was being asked to open a BT box that I had no authority or permission from BT to do so. By the Sky representatives own admission, the box belonged to BT and not Sky. What if something happened to the box and BT told me it was my fault and my problem since I would have tampered with their equipment.
    9. The Sky representative insisted that I opened that box or risked weeks without Internet.
    10. I informed the Sky representative that I would be cancelling my contract which she gladly accepted and put me through to cancellations.
    11. In cancellations a very helpful man did his best to negotiate with his colleagues to sort out my internet without me having to open the BT box. He clearly understood my concerns and accepted what I was saying. Calls went back and forth, eventually, he came back and told me that his managers told him I either opened the box or risked no further action.
    12. I told him I was definitely cancelling my contract with Sky as I was appalled by their stance in this case.
    13. I told the man I was going to phone about to find a new provider.
    14. I found a new provider and called Sky back to inform them to cancel. This time anther helpful gentleman took the call and read the notes.
    15. He again spoke to several people about my case. He was not just going to accept my cancellation without putting up a fight to put it right for me to remain as a Sky customer.
    16. By the close of business, he still hadn't made progress but promised to call me back the following day, 04.05.2017.
    17. On 04.05.2017, he called me and told me that he finally got his managers to make a reasonable proposal to me. The proposal was:
    i. I remained with Sky and they will send an engineer out to my home to fix my internet (which still remains down as I write this message at 11:15 UK time, 04.05.17).
ii. If I insist of leaving Sky, I must pay £49.00 for an engineer to come out to my house to look into the problems with my internet.
iii. I go ahead as I suggested to leave Sky, I object to paying £49.00 for the the engineer to come out, nothing happens and I may remain without Internet until the next provider takes over in a months time.
    18. I was shocked by the fact that I was being presented with all those choices when my initial enquiry was not to leave Sky but to have my internet restored.
    19. I told the Sky representative that I was going with option (i) and would pay the £49.00 for the engineer.
    20. The Sky representative expressed his disappointment, then offered me a reduction for Sky TV if I kept this. I said I would think about it.
    21. At this point, I was put through to the department that deals with commissioning engineers. This man in this department told me that even though I had said I would pay the £49.00 for the engineer, because I had opted to leave Sky, there was no guarantee that the engineer may come out to my house or resolve the problem.
    22. This has really shocked me and shows that Sky is really not listening or interested in understanding my concerns from the beginning.
    23. My intention was never to leave Sky, even though the service was never fantastic. Internet has always cut off and been slow, crackling phone line and the Internet often came back live again each time it cut off. This time round, it had been off for more that four hours before I made a call to Sky. This was disappointing for me.
    24. Even though I have given notice, I am still obliged to pay Sky for a month and effectively, I am still a Sky customer up to the end of my contract. I have to pay the £49.00 for an engineer, only to be told that there is no guarantee that my problem will be solved because I have made the decision to leave Sky!. Sky would still take my £49.00 and I would still pay my monthly fee to the end but my internet still might not be on as to Sky, they have no loyalty to me now since I have made the decision to leave.
    25. For these reasons I have decided the best decision was to leave Sky in a months time at the end of my notice period.

Literally the most inconsistent and unreliable broadband available. It goes off without warning basically every week and despite multiple calls has never been improved. Don't waste your time.

I'm supposed to be getting 60mbps-70mbps but I'm actually getting 17.8mbps. Paying the highest package for "superfast". It cuts out at least 4 times a day and takes 20 minutes to re boot. Would not reccomend to anyone.

Oh my god. Every. Single. Night.
    The dreaded, 11PM...
The only thing Sky Broadband is consistent with would be completely shutting down at 11-12PM.

Broadband speed is slow. If anybody visits they comment on its slowness. An average speed of 13Mbps compared to a possible 80Mbps in my area.

Very intermittent speeds. Most days my broadband drops to less than 1mbps usually about mid afternoon and mid evening. Over the Christmas period broadband was dropping out completely at times.

Terrible. I have been without any broadband for a month now. Sky sold me a G Fast upgrade but it never worked. In fact I was told by an Openreach engineer we were too far away and it sht never have been installed. We lost our original super fast connection and have been waiting four weeks now for it to be resolved. No urgency shown in resolving the issue. I don't think I ever received a proper apology either.

Broadband stopped working one week ago. Contacted sky on day of problems, after trying all the tests they suggested, still nothing. Then they try telling me I need a new microfilter, even tho I akready tried a new one and it didn't work. FOUR DAYS later a microfilter turns up and low and behold it doesn't work. Call back, an engineer can come Wednesday, a week after the problem. We've had to buy mobile data add-ons as we work at home occasionally and then sky offer us £3 compensation for a weeks lost internet?! Ridiculous. I'll be cancelling as soon as possible.

why has our internet been interrupted on many occasions in such a short period of time?.
why have we been informed that it is because of BT works?,it isnt,i have checked Why have i had to demand a managers call back within 24 hours.why did i have to contact the ombudsman?.would i recommend sky to anyone?,no i would not,i would however strongly recommend that they go elsewhere for their tv,telephone & broadband. 29july2011,our internet has been off for 10 hours, you keep saying that bt are working on the exchange, what did they do,knock the building down & start from scratch?.isnt it funny that when the internet is down, when i phone up it reconnects in seconds.you lot are taking the mickey! STILL waiting for manager call.I have written a formal letter of complaint to Mark Anderson asking him to investigate this matter & why sky operators consistantly fail to record notes on customer accounts.my broadband is still going off,as you are aware & have been for the past two weeks!

Up until recently I was using virgin broadband which pretty much gave me the download speed advertised & paid for. I'm now in a sky broadband household and of the 'up to 15mb' quoted, the other day it was 1.9!!! On better days it skyrockets to about 2.5. My local rail station (cheshunt) is 4 and the local wetherspoons 12!!! Sky have suggested that I upgrade to fibre optic - NOT A CHANCE!!!!

Terrible. Cuts out at 5.30pm 2 days out of every 5. Advertised as guaranteed connection speed in every room, but patchy even when 2ft from router and simply doesn't connect if more than 12ft away. Impossible to contact to complain: no phone number provided.

Useless customer service and lousy speed!
Recent connection problems and sky's complete incompetence in sorting them out led me to switch to plusnet. It led to me checking the speed of my sky connection which was the slowest of any provider in the area.
Despite being informed of my leaving (they even phoned me to ask why) sky has continued to deduct the direct debit. Its taken me a number of expensive phone calls and an email live call to get any action. I am now waiting to see if they refund the money they have taken from my account.

The broadband speed in this area is actually very good, but the reliability of the sky connection is terrible. It keeps cutting out, only to resolve the issue about twenty minutes later. Then I manage to watch about three more minutes of the football before it cuts out again. Save yourself the headache and go for a more reliable provider.

It's the second time in 2 months that my broadband and sky talk is out of order. the first time the reason given was due to workers that had damaged the line in Battersea area. it took them almost a week to fix it. did not get any refund from SKY although i only got a 3 weeks package instead of 4. Now i have the same issue and the reason given is a default on the line. it will take 3 to 5 days to fix it. if i did not call them, i would not even have been informed . Since i complain they offered to give me updates in a week ????? and a better price on my broadband (but would need to engaged for 1 more year ?????) Is this a bad joke???? i'm so fed up with all these broadband suppliers. we depend so much on them now that we feel like rats.

Awful reliability. Connection constantly drops. Virgin never gave me issues but they had poor channel selection for the price of a broadband and tv package. And Virgin creep up prices all the time. So tried Sky. Sky TV is great bu their broadband sucks.

Very poor, previous broadband provider was really good an I wish I had stayed with them. Skys router is poor, we now have blackspots all over the house and Sky just want to charge me more to overcome this. Previous router from other supplier worked fine so obviously Skys equipment is poor. Nothing they can do apart from charge me more! Useless.

I have been with Virgin for a number of years. Fibre optic broadband was excellent and the basic TV package met our needs. However like most companies the deal ran out and I meant to look for a cheaper provider. Telephone call from Sky’s sales team with an offer of £35 per month for unlimited broadband, around £300+ tv channel and unlimited landline calls for up to 1 hour. Broadband mediocre, definitely not as good as virgin. The Sky salesman said it would easily match Virgin if not it would be better. Lie number 1and some of the channels I got with virgin which I expected to be included such as 4hd are not. Spoke to customer services and I’m still waiting for a call back 4 days later and to top it off Sky have increased the prices before I’ve even had a bill at £35. So lie number 2. If I am sold a deal at £35 for 18 months that’s what I expect. Sale under false promises of a service Sky can not deliver. DONT BOTHER GOING WITH SKY. Needless to say I will be moving to another provider as soon as I am able to. When I did complain the rep said he’d call me back but never did. Lie number 3.

Beware of sky. The first 6 months of my 18 month contract they kept getting my bill wrong. Always overcharging never under charged. I phoned to cancel last month as my contract was finishing. They never disconnected services and I now have to pay an extra month which is when it was due to increase. If they don't disconnect next month they can sue me.each time I talk to sky agent I get different answer. Incident ly when they first installed they put my landline and broadband in the wrong address so had to wait another month with no telephone and broadband which they charged for. Please people avoid this company like the plague

Severely disappointed with the reliability and speed. Most of the time I'm getting about 15Mbits/s, with advertised 40Mbits. Very often the speed drops to around 1-5Mbits. The help and support pages are really poor, just guiding through very basics. For example, when choosing an option that my speed is slow they still suggest to check that HUB is on and connected. Of course it is! Without that it wouldn't be slow, it wouldn't work! And no way to contact then via web form, always redirecting to phone (sorry, I just don't enjoy speaking for 2 hours and repeating the same things over and over). Get it together Sky! It's not even a cheap service, not at all!

I moved last month from my beloved Plusnet to Sky Broadband and Talk. I need my head feeling. First off, my order was placed but it stated four weeks to install/activate. When I rang and queried this, the lovely lady on the phone said something like 'no problem, I'll just cancel your order, re-start your order and get what's called a 'cold line' installed within two days'. Yippee I said! Four weeks later, the line was installed. Shocking. So a total of two weeks without a phone line and broadband. And now, a week in, the line never achieves more then 3mbps...! Its currently 2.20mbps. Plusnet, 8mbps or more, constantly. Sky states it takes 10 days for it to 'settle'. Er, what?! Just stick it to the maximum the line allows! This is 2016, not 1916! Man has walked on the Moon, yet you take 10 days to sort the line out?! Oh, PLEASE! Plusnet, ALWAYS, from DAY ONE, constant 8mbps or above...! I regret the day I left Plusnet. Regret!

The service was good for 1 year. The problem started when we moved the house. The speed of broadband not as I expected, it disconnects roughly every few minutes. The broadband is very slow I can't even watch videos online properly. After calling sky for last 2 months they repeatedly tell me to take my own phone socket to pieces but have not offered other help or visit. Customer service is very bad and unprofessional. They promise for call back/engineer visit but nothing happens. Finally I have given up and decided to move on with another provider.

This company rips people off. You are tied into long contracts and they can raise they prices as they like during the contract. If you don’t want to pay, you get hit with a massive fee for leaving mid contract. Scam!!!

Internet mostly works fine, except when it doesn’t and Sky are hopeless at doing something about it.

Useless. We have had sky for 2 years now and for 2 years we have had to reset the box and mess with the filter etc nearly every other day. Complained and all you get is it’s prob the box or your phone line, I know it’s not the line as we have had the same prob in our last house and I’m pretty sure we are on our 2nd box. As for the speed, we are lucky if 2 people can browse at the same time without slowing it down.

Horrendously slow internet. We get anything between 0.9 to 2.4 mbps and on very rare occasions it peaks at 4.27. We have 2 PS4 consoles so if anyone is using phones, tabs ect they have to come offline. The problem is we pay playstation plus subscription fees to stream games which is IMPOSSIBLE with these speeds. It has gone down about 12 times in 12 months, constantly fobbed off by SKY. BT own the lines so they probably give priority to their own customers to keep them happy and are quite happy to p** sky customers off. Well it works because I just ordered BT infinity 2 70 mbps broadband. SKY TV is a waste of money, sky sports pathetic. They're greedy con merchants, even channel 5 shows live boxing for FREE, SKY only show it on box office for £20.00 a fight! BT have all rights to champions league games for next 3 years. Goodbye SKY hello BT.

I was buying the 8Mb service (mid) and I was only getting 2Mb so I downgraded to the 2Mb service and now I'm getting 864Kb - crap! ripped off whatever you do - isn't there a trade descriptions act?

I shall keep this short and sweet, in case it turns into a rant.

My internet connection fluctuates constantly throughout the day, going from fair/poor to just poor. It is so bad that I get constant hitches in service where either it struggles to refresh a page on the net, or loses connection altogether. And this is when sitting just one room away from the crappy sky router. I have to use a signal booster in my bedroom upstairs, otherwise it is non-existent. Seriously, to all those people who are thinking of going with Sky... just don't. Choose ANYBODY else but them (apart from Talk Talk of course).

Recently moved from Hertfordshire where we were with Virgin. Cannot believe how poor the internet connection is here with Sky. It has dropped 8 times this morning!

Don't buy it ! It's crap ! . Unfortunatly it's no better than BT or the other Shylocks out there . They promise a lot deliver little and help not at all . To be absolutely fair they are helped a lot by BT who provide a land line that is only PHYSICALLY capable of 512kbps and cable who are not laying any lines any more . For a new building developement where I live this is criminal . BUT ! Check the speed out for your area because if you haven't got cable then you are limited in speed by the distance from the exchange FACT . NON FACT ( Lies ) able to provide a service up to XYZ kbps when physically they can't .

I understood that we would not recieve high speeds in the area, but our options were limited at the time. However the exchange has just been upgraded to llu. Sky are selling the free broadband package broa to new customers in the town. I phoned to enquire when us (exsiting customers) were being offered this. I got 2 different answers. From cancellation department: 'sky had too many customers to advise and so would not do so'. This was refuted by the next lady in the broadband section, who checked my details and said that she would try to foce a migration, but after checking with someone else ,came back and asked if I was not happy that she checked 'cause it is sold out'??????????? Today it is still stated on all the checkers and comparison sites, that the package is available to this postcode!!!!The best that she could do was reduce my cost from £17-00 to £12-00 for 6 months
I will try one more time to speak with sky, before looking at alternatives!

Brilliant for 2 years but then removed Sky TV from package, now half the speed, frequent disconnections. Not the way to attract me back to sky tv again when they use these sort of tactics

Constantly cutting out, speed is OKAY but doesn't give us the speed it is capable of.

Joke, the connection was good at the start. The more you get into it the worse it gets. Connection won’t even work upstairs most of the time. Really do not recommend especially with consoles. The connection doesn’t even work I would be lucky to get connection on my phone in my room never mind on my Xbox. Seems to be the connection is horrible all day and as soon as it his 11:30pm-12am it doesn’t even work at all it’s gone.

Worst customer experience and technical support ever. Took over a month to get broadband up and running. What a pain! Stay away from them.
