This has to be the worst internet provider and customer service that I have ever received. I have spent hours on the phone to them and have had intermittent service for months. They have lied to me, blamed my hardware, plus tablet, mobile phone, laptop, the wire. Anything to get out of admitting that they are at fault. They have promised compensation, a new router and have delivered none of it. Eventually they offered to send an engineer out to look at the fault, but if they thought it wasn't to do with them I would be charged £55. In the end I cancelled after their track record of lies and incompetence. I have been told that I have signal all along, never mind just replacing the router. I questioned why I would want to spend at least an hour and a half on the phone to them if my service was not working. Avoid at all costs.

Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Inconsistent staff, broken promises, constant lying and overall very poor service. Can not believe this company still has customers. It would be in the interest of the consumer to shut Talk Talk down and start again with customer service training and that goes right to the top. The only great thing is that hundred of people feel the same way about Talk Talk so at least you know when they are abrupt and rude down the phone to you that its not just you they treat like this!

    Appalling company.
We have had ongoing problems for 6 months, with both our broadband and landline. We keep having a call divert added to our line, that we haven't asked for, and the call divert is to a number we have never heard of, so we haven't been getting vital calls. Broadband is useless. Slow speed and intermittent faults.
The worst is the TalkTalk staff. Philippine call centres with staff whose grasp of english is so poor that are not capable of understanding what you are saying. They lie repeatedly, make promise and appointments that are never kept. After months of problems I have finally got to speak to an English CEO manager, Linda Davidson, who was so unbelievably rude, patronising and aggressive, you would have thought I as in the wrong for daring to complain about all the issues we are having. Obviously a rising star in the TalkTalk Sales Prevention team. Like other reviewers,my advice is just save your time and effort and pay the extra few pounds, and AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.
One star is high a rating for this company.

The worst internet provider in existence. The company must be breaking some kind of law from exploiting people this badly. I absolutely hate them. Continuously putting the price up month after month. Avoid at all costs.

From the day I switched from Sky to Talk Talk, my connection has been very poor and constantly intermittent. I made numerous calls to rectify the issue and was told if an engineer finds a fault then I will be charged. Today I spoke to an tech who said their was nothing wrong with my equipment and the fault was with Talk Talk because they'd set the signal too high?! So it's taken 12 months to find this out... utter rubbish. Finally my 12 months are up and I've cancelled it. I shall never use this service again - be warned.

If only there was a minus button. Absolutely terrible. Add on broadband to my account, wait weeks for an engineer appointment, an its a no show. Spend 55mins on phone to talk talk for them to tell me my broadband is working and active. I explained, how can my broadband be working without a router!!! I have now to wait another 3 - 5 working days for a router. Wish id read all these bad reviews before switching! Total joke of a company!

I moved house last year and thouhght my contract was terminated i spoke to the adviser and asked if i could transfer to my new address as it is remote where i am taklktalk cant provide the service so the contract was cancelled when i moved away i thought, but now 7 months later they put a credit agency on me to claim nearly £200 as the contract didnt end until a few months ago. So i am paying for a contract on a phone line i couldnt use in my new home. Perhaps they want to tell their advisers to make it clear to customers that cant transfer their phone lines that contracts have to be cancelled in writing so to avoid being persued by a credit agency demanding payment. One of many unhappy ex customers who wont be recommending their services.

Can't put into words how bad this company is! They are that unprofessional that they should be SHUT DOWN for good! After they switched us from AOL to a new account they continued to take our money for both accounts even though we only have one line and they didn't close the account down. After spending hours on the phone for a refund of my money they told me that they had moved the money to the new account and I could have a refund. After persisting they told me they could send it in 10 days time by a cheque! to me They refused to pay it directly back into my account of which it was taken.
After advising their agent on the phone (recorded call remember!)I have therefore INVOICED Talk Talk £50 a day for holding my money for the period that they have quoted to return it back to me directly to the Head of Complaints – CEO's Office, TalkTalk Group, PO Box 344, Unit 19, Southampton, SO30 2NP.
Had a call from yet another incompetent agent claiming to be the highest in the tree from the CEO office saying that they wont be paying my bill and that mistakes happen. If the bill isn't paid then I will push it through the legal system. Already Complained via OFCOM and will be CLOSING ACCOUNT irrespective of any fee's to GET RID OF TALK TALK FOR GOOD! NONE RETURNING CUSTOMER!!!!!

Broadband always full of faults, Very very slow at sorting the issues out. Promised calls and text messages never happen. Super super slow Fiber optic. Poor poor poor customer service. I can not believe how bad they are. Roll on end of contract. It shows by all of the other reviews that they really need to do something. Also make UK call centers, Call times would be halved and issues sorted very quickly. More efficient service would not hurt.

My situation is maybe a little unique as I was never technically a customer as I cancelled before going live (phew!). However I did give them an 'upfront payment' before connection and there lies my problem.

I have been chasing my money now for over month after being originally told '10 days max'. I've spent a lot of time on the phone do these people (India? Philippines?) who are always polite and apologetic yet completely powerless and scripted.

I logged a formal complaint against one specific guy who blatantly lied to me only to find that my complaint was logged as 'related to refund', I was told I'd receive a phonecall to follow up on the complaint only to receive a text message from a personal number from a guy called 'Juan' (no, I'm serious!) saying they had tried to contact me and would be closing the complaint in 3 days if I didn't reply. Juan does not reply to texts.

After this I received a more formal email saying that they will be resolving my complaint by sending me the money! It was always my money and never in dispute that it was being sent to me.

Anyway I'm hoping for a resolution soon! Horrible company, avoid like the plague!

I have had problems with countless people telling me they get a "sorry there is no reply thanks for calling please hang up" instead of busy tone when I am using my phone. All my efforts to stop this at all levels of customer service up to even the CEO Dido Harding have failed. I am currently also having problems with my so called free sim Talktalk offer with their TV plus package. I was charged £14 for data used on a day that the amount of data used should have been included in the data allowance.
A very unprofessional attitude by call centre and CEO office should be warning enough to steer clear of this company

Broadband is OK, 4.5Mbps so standard basic broadband. Only problem is if you have to talk to them, Indian call centre so it can be hard to understand and be understood. 30mins on the phone to them is normal and frequently you have to ring back when they get it wrong and go through it all again until they get it right. The online account system goes down quite regularly so you can't access bills, etc. If you get the bog standard phone, be careful of the costs, it's always cheaper for me to use my mobile (which is crazy), so I just use them for broadband and people ringing in. I get the feeling they aren't really setup to run such a huge service, hence the frequent mistakes.

I just spoke to the "customer service" manager - who I assume is in India.
I explained that their outsourced delivery company - UKMail - did not deliver my router during the day (yesterday) and time that was confirmed to me.
I contacted UKMail's customer service team, who confirmed it to me, that they are happy to redirect my package to my work address where I can actually receive it [as I already lost a day off work on Tuesday, where the router was supposed to be delivered].
Then, I contacted TalkTalk's customer service team - after several redirection & "I am not the right person to talk to" - I finally got through to the manager.
He could not do anything else, except repeat my name 100 million times (absolutely unnecessarily) and repeat that there is nothing he can do.
After 35 minutes on the call with him, he finally admitted that the only reason he is not helping me because he is not "authorised" to pick up the phone and talk to UKMail.

    It is absolutely unacceptable!
With this, he was not only stating that he could solve my problem - and he is choosing not to - but also that TalkTalk is going to charge me for a service that their company is not actually providing.

If you want peace of mind - don't go with TALKTALK because if anything goes wrong with their service, they will choose to ignore it, and they won't help you at all!

TalkTalk are a bunch of incompetent, lying, untrustworthy, thieving buffoons. Broadband was absolutely shocking dropping to speeds of 0.05Mb, rendering the internet and on demand TV useless. It only ever peaked at 2.4Mb every now and again. Speaking to their Indian based call centre and tech team was a waste of time. I was informed over the phone that my speed should be 5Mb and that they could get it to this. They then carried out tests and informed me that they had done all the diagnostics and tests that they could possibly do and that my broadband was as good as it will ever get. They then went on to say that TalkTalk are unable to do anything else to improve my Broadband. Funnily enough though, the recording of this call was 'unavailable' when asked to provide it to the Ombudsman. Because of this, I have no proof that I complained about my speeds dropping to 0.05Mb all that time ago and no evidence that they had said there was nothing more TalkTalk could do. If you deal with TalkTalk, insist that everything is in writing and keep records. I did this when it came to dealing with my remaining mobile phone contract and let me tell you, they really don't like having to deal with customers in writing and still try to phone instead, despite requesting email or letters. Wonder why that is! I have now switched supplier and am enjoying speeds far greater and more stable than they could ever supply. We're talking speeds up in the double figures. Want my advice, stay well away from them!

I'm so angry for myself for not doing proper research before getting a broadband. The TalkTalk is absolutely terrible company.
Waited really long time for their engineers to come and for the first appointment nobody appeared, so i took a day off a work for nothing, then i had to set a new appointment and wait another month for them to come, second time they finally appeared, and even though the internet speed is absolutely slow, mostly not even 2Mbps, i thought that everything is ok, finally i had at least the internet. for the first month i was charged normally, second month i was charged over 80 pounds !!! and guess for what! for the missed appointment. even though i wrote them right away that day, that the engineer hasn't come, and they wrote back, that they are sorry and the engineer was near the property and the property looked like no one was in. ?!!! why to buzz right? just look at the windows and if there are no curtains go home... well that's their perfect service! not even that cheap if they will fine you for their own mistakes.

Today I will be cancelling my contract, I have been with them over 5 years now and this week my broadband has dropped out about 50 times, no joke. 20 times on Wednesday and my download speed last night for some new software dropped to 28kbs at one time. It took 2 hours to download, I am meant to be getting 10Mbs and the file was only 900Mb's.

I wish I could give zero ratings here...

Reading these post which articulate everything I am feeling makes me feel slightly better. Broadband speeds next to nil. Over a month now and our fault incident has been CLOSED 3 times! Engineer visited the house and said internally all fine. And Open Reach would be out the following Tues/ Wed/Thurs....you guessed it, nope, called and after an hour of excuses, they admitted they had no idea why they didn't turn up. A week later another visit scheduled, even phoned me to confirm. NO SHOW......today phoned again to be told complaint closed down AGAIN. How can they get away with this? Next engineer visit scheduled for next Thursday. Avoid like the plague.

After being over 4 years talktalk customer, didn't expect that they could do it something like that.
I was moving my home to new build house. Spoke with talktalk customer service about changing address,
been told they need 10 days for escalating. Phone them after 10 days - said need another 10 days,
phoned them again after 10 they said again 10 days.
Finally after about 30 days phoned them again and they said - sorry we cant provide you broadband!!!
Wow great news a was waiting for them so long thank you for leting me know!

Worse service I ever used. Problems with the service from the day it went live. They tried to over charge me twice and within the probation period they are charging me to leave. They failed to inform me of advance charges. The internet speed is very slow the download speed I should have is 16.5 and its only at 6mb the upload isn't even 1mb. If you don't wanna be messed around I don't recommend this company.

Have been with TT for some years, however, the last 6 months have been terrible. We persistently get a connection but are not served with IP info, so, no service. Then when you do a speed check with TT, they tell me I've got 1.2megs, then I do a test with a NON TT site, and guess what, - I have about 0.4megs.
The web site drop down answers that they have pre-programmed are irrelevant, the assumption being that UK customers are thick. So, how to get out of a contract, - it's simple, - if the service provided is not "FIT FOR SERVICE" then you are no obliged to have it, let alone pay for it, I wrote to TT cancelling the service, oly to get a letter back asking me for my address, mothers maiden name and my telephone number. The address and telephone number were of course on my first letter! I have now sent them another letter of cancellation, and a copy of the letter to my Bank cancelling the DD.
TT used to be quite good, but something has got lost when the entire company started working from some Indian sweat shop desk. The staff are very polite but unintelligible. I think they should simply concentrate on my Saturday night Curry rather then mess about with telephones and Broadband.

Service is highly variable in speed and connectivity.

Customer service is absolutely atrocious; almost impossible to actually get to speak to someone and when you do (by threatening to leave) they are completely script based and of no actual assistance whatsoever.

I've been a TalkTalk customer for years and often recommended them. I would not recommend them any more and will be dumping them ASAP! The issues are numerous and include significantly reduced broadband speeds, outages, inability to get emails, and dreadful customer service based in India where staff simply read through a script and fail to deal with issues.

Coupled with this there is the arrogance of the senior managers who do not really care about their customers' experiences. For example they do not publish their contact details and the so called customer service staff refuse to provide it; and if you make any complaint publicly on their Facebook page, the comment disappears!

Any one contemplating doing business with TalkTalk should be very wary as there are clearly more disatisfied customers than is reasonable.

Really low internet speed, lots of lies, poor customer service, agents don't know what they're talking about, everybody says something different. Left talk talk to join a better company once contract finished but found out that they have charged me £385 for cancellation!!! waiting for resolution!!! It's ridiculous.

    Really annoying.
I signed a contract online for only broadband services for £21/month and they pretend me to pay £24/month because there are "extra cost" added which I have never agreed with. Therefore, they have made an unilateral contract change and it is not legal anymore.

Apart from that, and altough when I signed the committed to send an engineer to my place to set up everything, some days before they texted me (SMS) that it was not needed ?? and they cancelled the appointment.

The day it was supposed to start their services, I didn´t have internet access and when I called customer service department they said that my contact number wasn´t recognized as a customer one and I had to call a different department (for non-customers). I called and a pre-recorded message told that they had problems with broadband and they expected to sort them out the next day at 9 pm. None picked up the phone.

I went to chat and the only solution they gave me was to ring the same numbers I called before. I did, and the same outcomes.

I ask to the chat customer service to cancel my services and she disappeared.

By email, by phone, ... they don´t listen at all and they pretend me to pay their £24/month just because threating with a debt collector use to be enough convincing, regardless customer rights.
I had to pay Virgin Media an interesting fee to get back my services the day TalkTalk should have start providing me broadband because I do work from home and couldn´t stay without internet access.

I am looking at the possibility of bringing TalkTalk to the Court through a collective action. Once you pay for services, you have to get them. If they break the contract, customers are free to finish their obligations as well.

    Absolutely disgusting.
I ordered the internet with talktalk since the end of april, and i've never had the internet.
countless phone calls, huge phone bills because the housephone doesnt work also.
theyve booked technichians to come who havent bothered to show up but yet they tell me if im not here for them they'll charge me £60 odd.
ive been asking them via facebook to ring me for the past week and half, they have said they cant ring me. LOL.
ive paid my bill even when i havent had the internet i think their disgusting. i'm fuming.

If it isnt sorted soon i'm cancelling my direct debit.

Was an AOL customer had no problems since 1996, then in May 2015 Talk Talk take over, what a difference continually loosing conection and customer services well is there one get call backs within 48hrs by someone who wants you to remove sockets from the wall and been promised a manager call back but after 4 days nil.

DO NOT CONSIDER THESE AT ALL

I was with AOL when they turned over their service to Talk Talk. AOL have great customer service and I had been with them for a number of years. Talk Talk broad band speed was hopeless- less than 3MB. After a number of months I decided to switch to Virgin Media and contacted Talk Talk. They gave the usual and almost aggressive pushy 'we can offer you this' etc, even though I repeatedly told them I would not change my mind. I am now receiving early morning phone calls from the company. DO NOT deal with them unless you want a terrible product and an even worse customer service.
