Talk talk is inclined to make profit any way necessary, even at the expense of thier customers. The 3 months we had an account with Talk Talk was nothing but problems. They set up a mobile account in my partners name without his consent and then tried to bill him for the duration even though we told them we never wanted it repeatedly. Then when we told them we were leaving our address and wanted nothing more to do with Talk Talk they still tried to bill us for the accounts and when we disputed this they initially agreed to our request then gave the run around for 3 weeks with varying attitude from curt/rude/dismissive to apologetic/ helpful to completely useless. I spent about 7hours just sat on hold/waiting for someone to 'read the case notes' or ask someone. While some were helpful the majority were useless and felt like they were playing 'hot potato' as none really wanted to take ownership of our complaint and with some advisors their accent was so thick we could barely understand them. 'Managers' taking over the call only to insist they 'callback tomorrow' on whatever number you like...then nothing. We are disgusted with how TalkTalk treat their customers and are actively discouraging our friends/family/neighbours/business acquaintances from doing any business with them unless they want fraudulent accounts, overdraft fess, and nothing but excuses, fob offs and feckless infuriating 'managers'.

Absolutely appalling service with nearly daily drop outs. Tried to end contract a few months early due to this, and moving house, was promised a call back, never received one and they have sent my account to collections, month by month. Yes that's right, they are trying to open a new collection for every monthly payment they think I owe.

An Engineer didn't finish his job he simply plugged the devices in and left. The Reciept stating the engineer will check that your broadband is working (will require access to a computer) before leaving was NOT done. When i rang to complain we were only getting half the speed, the lady on the phone went through to then be told me they can send the engineer back out for a charge of £65. I questioned why i will be charged £65 for an engineer not doing his job in the first place , She told me the problem isn't from there end it. Nothing more they can do about it. 'We have refreshed everything from our end please observe it for 48hours then call us back if there is no change so we can book an engineer'.

I highly suggest do not get yourself caught up with talktalk, stay away.

AVOID TALK TALK - EVEN IF THEY WERE FREE!
11 weeks late installing landline and broadband into house. it still isn't working now, cannot receive in-coming calls. reported this 2 weeks ago, nothing has been done about it. Am demanding compensation. will not be renewing contract with them again that is for sure. Utterly useless and unhelpful customer experience.

Worst broadband provider I have ever had. Slow internet speeds, accusatory customer service staff and totally inflexible approach. They kept losing the change of ownership and cancellation forms I sent for a property I used to live in, so it took 4 months to eventually cancel the service for a house I didn't live in.

Want good internet and browse it with peace of mind then stay away from Talktalk. You will get to speak to adviser in UK if you want to buy their service but if you have any technical problem then you will be directed to Philippines where people do not have any idea how things work and read only the paper given to them by their manager. 0 stars.

Much like everybody else we've fallen for it...after a couple weeks the internet has been slow and now doesn't even work. We've called them a couple times and the conversations have been long and overdrawn and we're never told what the problem is or how long it will take. Quite simply we're paying random people money for nothing in return. My partner is unable to work from home so has to spend money in cafés etc. They were polite in the phone so I don't blame the advisors. I very much doubt we'll get money back or be able to get out of the contract without at least attempting to jump through many hoops. Very frustrating

I tried to remove a boost from my package. When attempting to do so on the internet I was told I couldn't do so and had to call a number. That number then had an automated message telling me I had to remove any boosts on the internet, very frustrating.

I don't often write negative reviews but I've had such an unpleasant experience with TalkTalk lately that I thought I'd warn others.
The speed has never really been a problem, it's a solid 15 Mbps as promised (we don't have fibre in the area).
It's the strength of connection which drops out many times a day that's the problem for both of us working from home. It's been a very stressful couple of months with the connection dropping out during important meeting, client calls and what not.
I have used live chat first to "troubleshoot". We didn't fix anything. I was sent an email on how to check it myself which I did. It was still bad.
I went on live chat to request a £40 engineer appt which resulted in nothing.
I asked for another option, which was a £65 engineer appt which also solved nothing.
At this point, over a month down the line, I am £105 out of pocket and very frustrated as you can imagine.
I went on live chat again where I went through the same "troubleshooting" procedure I've done many times before and then I was told that the speed was fine and above what is promised. I didn't complain about the speed. (this was 2 hours into our live chat by the way). So again, I explained in plain English numerous time that the connection drops out numerous time a day, both wifi and wired. At which point, they left the chat. Having wasted 2.5 hrs I was beyond annoyed so I tried getting through to someone via he phone. I thought I could reason with a person. When I finally did get through I was told to do the exact troubleshooting checks AGAIN. I told them I've just done them and then explained the situation. The person on the other end couldn't do anything but read off the script. She read why they won't refund the money and asked me if I want "troubleshooting guidance" emailed to me... It felt like talking to a wall. I will definitely be changing providers. Absolutely horrendous customer service.

Please put a negative x5 in front

I agreed to Talktalk broadband because of the price .
Had messages re installation and 3 times attempted to change this (over an hour getting nowhere) the final attempt resulted in me cancelling the order.

South African call centre don’t help as the talk time delay
I have better calls on my Skype.
Call handlers making things very difficult as is the TalkTalk website.
    Stay well away from TalkTalk

Well, well, well... Dealing with Talk Talk has had to be the most infuriating and stressful situations I've ever had to deal with when moving home. I was told and had confirmed 3 times an engineer would be visiting my new address to sort my internet for me and this obviously lead to me taking a day off work and losing money. Once the engineer was late I called again (as I had been constantly anyway since around 8:30am and it was now around 1pm) to see where the engineer was and why he was late. I was told at this point I was given false information and that no engineer had been called out, even though I had spoken to 3 separate people who said that there is one on the way. I was endlessly being passed from person to person and was asked exactly the same thing with every single person (name, email address, home address, account number) and by the 20th or so person I had snapped and by this point it might of been around 3pm and this wasn't even the end of it.

Through so much hassle, given false information and upon speaking to one person name Cindy I think, left me waiting whilst she took other calls because "there was nothing she could do, I was given false information". I said to her to why was she not hanging up the phone if she isn't going to help with my situation or at least put me through to somebody who might and she responded because she "isn't allowed to hang up on customers" which wanting to get this situation resolved, I stayed on the line. She completely ignored me, laughed at me, took other calls and had chats with her colleagues in the background whilst I waited for somebody to actually give a damn about my situation. I hung up after half an hour, and called back and demanded a manager and he was absolutely useless, telling me an engineer would be in contact soon and they were resolving my situation, but after everything I had been told already I didn't trust anything anybody was saying to me anymore. At the end of the call, it didn't feel resolved, I felt completely deflated. I had lost money taking a day off work, my partner was also speaking to them so he was missing hours whilst he was at work and I still had no engineer and I had been made to look a fool for the entire day, they just basically scooted me off the phone so that they didn't have to deal with me anymore.

I'd left it an hour or so to calm down called them back and cancelled everything, the way they treat their customers is ridiculous and I didn't want to be apart of it at all. I was told about a cancellation fee of £70 which I scoffed at and responded that I had taken a day off work for this mysterious engineer who never arrived and had found out he had never been called in the first place. Around 7pm I was still fighting to not pay a cancellation fee, I had been on the phone the entire day and I refused because of the lack of customer service I had received. The final person I spoke to scrapped the cancellation fee and as apologies gave me my last months bill (£22..) as a refund.

Even if you're reading the reviews and there are a few people saying "they're really good! Installation is excellent! Really quick speeds!" Then I have no idea who these people are or whether it's the company trying to boost their ratings because this does not happen with this company. Customer service, speeds and general awareness of them actually being able to run their company is just shocking.

If you have managed to read this entire essay I've written, I hope I've managed to skew your decision to a different provider because I would not want to put anybody through the ridiculous amount of hassle I have had. I understand some people would choose to go with the cheaper options for broadband, which is exactly what I did, but it isn't worth it. Save your time and spend a little extra because you get exactly what you pay for with Talk Talk, which if I could put zero stars as ratings, I would.

    Customer Service

Terrible customer experience, still being billed despite already cancelling, sending back their device, and paying a cancellation fee. Called to cancel services in Mid-September because I had to move, so I sent back the device and paid a hefty cancellation fee. I've done all that yet I was still billed until January. Contacted them again in January to ask why I was still being billed, and they claimed that I had not cancelled services nor sent back the device. Either terrible customer management on their part, or outright theft. Wanting to cut my losses, I submitted a cancellation again via chat (now a written paper trail should exist). Still no cancellation confirmation until February. Just wasting money for services that I do not use, have cancelled, and have paid for the cancellation.

Would not recommend, unless you want to waste your money.

    Broadband

The broadband speed and reliability was adequate enough for day-to-day activities. Not worth the awful customer experience.

Rubish, worst company I have ever dealed with. They don't have a slightest clue about customer service. Every time you call them, they lie out of their underpants, saying - Madam, it will be resolved in 48 hours. In fact it is not and other lies are created, even blaming concurents and saying that others are not better then they are.DON'T go there, it will be your worst enemy.

Appalling!!! Took them to the ombudsman. Phoned dozens of times trying to get an engineer to even come round the house. Got an apology and a bit of money through the ombudsman, they still haven't come round to fix it after they promised the ombudsman they would. It is exactly a year since I have had any service at all from them and now they have just sent me a bill for £30 odd quid.

Shocking, do not go with them.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Just the worst company I have ever dealt with. I cancelled with talk talk over a year ago and the entire time since I have received bills of random amounts. After numerous telephone and online conversations with people who told me the account was cancelled they still sent me bills. The frustraion I have had with them over the last year is awful. We had the ombudsman involved and I finally believed I was free of them ! Until yesterday that was when apparently I owed a late payment fee of 10 pounds! This has come from nowhere and after arguing my case they have told me they have waived the charge! how nice of them! Ths over the last year has caused me sleepless nights as I have been in fear of being in debt to a company that I left but has continued to charge me, threatening me with debt collectors. It is people's lives they are playing with and such threats affect credit scores etc. They are a disgusting company with 0 customer service skills and seriously avoid them at all cost.

    USE WITH CAUTION

When I had broadband the service was OK. However, I reported a fault to Talk Talk 6 weeks ago.

During this time I have had NO phone or broadband service.

I have made 3 costly calls a week and have lost count of the number of times I have been told "don't worry".

I can't escalate the problem as no call operative will transfer me to a manager. On two occasions I was promised a call back, but neither materialised.

I have tried the nice approach and I have got cross - neither works.

I WILL DEFINITELY BE MOVING FROM TALK TALK ONCE THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED…….. Absolutely dreadful approach to service.

Terrible service and internet quality. After being a customer for 3 years I called to cancel my account with Talk Talk but was told by two separate reps that my contract still had over a year left on it.
They were doing best to sell me other products and after talking frankly with them, they checked my t&c’s and were able to cancel within 5 days with no fees.
Do not get internet with Talk Talk.

Abysmal service! Opted for the offer of 50 pound new line installation instead of 75 pound shopping vouchers. Engineer due on 26th of Jan. Had numerous text messages saying we would be charged if missed out appointment. Partner took holiday off work, no one came. Looked on talk talk app said our service was live. The line from original owners that probably had it for 10 plus years must be fine then. Plug Internet box in, nothing bar power light working. Call them they resolve issue over phone. Internet is good for three weeks then starts going on and off. Call them, they reconnect us. Same next month, goes for a few days. Call them they reconnect us. Same this month for over a week, we were busy so left it for the week, still not working. Checked my online bill and I had an 8.26 charge for calls. Calls we didn't make as we don't own an actual housephone to plug in. Time to call back. Explained the issue with phonebill and lack of Internet. Well I must of made the calls as they are on the system, I could add a package to save from future charges also I will have to pay 65 pounds for an engineer to come out to fix my phone line to receive Internet which I refuse to pay as they should of gave me a new line like I signed up for. After 10 mins I ask for a manager. Tell her I didn't make the calls as we don't have a phone. Offers to have outgoing calls blocked and 8.26 cleared as a goodwill gesture. Fine. Ask to be through to a tech manager to resolve Internet. Finally found someone who understands me and doesn't assume I'm lying to clear an 8.26 debt. Could well be an issue with a crossline and that would also mess the Internet up, just checking the lines etc charge for engineer is bull as we have had problems since day one, phone goes can't get hold of them for two hrs as they are updating their system, call back they can't help us as we have charges on our bill. Our bill is paid up to date our next direct debit due 1st of June. Got to pay it now, will put you through to billing department. Get put through. No I don't want to pay you I have a direct debit. Get me a manager. The only one with half a brain cell not there get put through to another moron. Got to pay 65 pound for engineer. Couldn't possibly be a crossline, we wouldn't know as we don't have a phone plugged in. Asked us to get a landline phone to check if there is. Explained we can't make outgoing calls anyway as we have requested a block on outgoing calls. Got told to just get a phone. Borrow a neighbours. Call back on mobile. Spouting on about we need an engineer and will cost us 65 pound if our line needs replacing but they can't help us as our service has been barred till we pay our bill and that department is shut. Asked for manager. He was. Bull. Round 763 today!

We were using TalkTalk for a few years. Their TalkTalk broadband was crap always, but usually, after a day or so, we used to get it to reset and we were able to use it. We kept the TalkTalk contract because their telephone service was okay and the package as a whole was at a good price. However, since Friday evening, 22nd April 2022, our broadband was down. Since we couldn't log in to our online account, and their office was closed, we rang TalkTalk on Saturday morning, 23rd April, and reported the fault. TalkTalk guys advised us of the usual reset exercises, and we spent 1 hour doing all those things but nothing was working. It was difficult to understand much of the stuff that their call centre in the Philippines talked to me, and I had to frequently ask for clarification. Anyway, the TalkTalk lady from the Philippines advised us to call back after 20 minutes, after fully disconnecting and rebooting the router, but nothing worked.

When we rang back on Saturday (23rd April), but we were blocked by the TalkTalk automated telephone system, saying that they are working on the previously reported fault. We rang TalkTalk several times, on Saturday and Sunday, and Monday morning, but the message was that TalkTalk was closed. So, we had to take a day off from work on Monday. We rang TalkTalk again after 10 am on Monday morning, and after attempting a few options, we got someone from TalkTalk by the name of Leona. She also repeated the whole exercise again. I repeatedly asked her to escalate the matter to the specialist team or to send an engineer, but the TalkTalk lady was beating the bush, and I was compelled to do all that the TalkTalk lady asked me to do. Yet, we got no broadband signal on our router. I requested to speak to a manager, but the manager was in a meeting. I said I will wait and haven't got time to speak to me. She agreed that she will escalate the matter, once the final rebooting is not fruitful. Anyway, I spent almost 3 hours on Monday on their calls.

I rang back in the afternoon, (Monday, 25th April) to report that full rebooting which she asked me to do again wasn't again not working. But the lady who picked up the call at that time wanted to know everything from the scratch and I had to repeat the whole story. It was a person by the name of Dera and she insisted to do another round of technical checking before the matter can be escalated to the specialist team. So, I was compelled to again spend hours repeating their technical checks on my line, and nothing worked out. In the end, after much pressure, the TalkTalk lady agreed to transfer the matter to the specialist technical team. When I asked her, what is the next step forward, the TalkTalk lady promised me a call from the specialist team, and I requested her to give me a call on that day itself (Monday) or else, by Tuesday morning. Since we were without broadband for many days, I was anxiously waiting for the call from TalkTalk. But there was no call from TalkTalk on Monday or Tuesday.

I understood that TalkTalk team members are so irresponsible, arrogant, and do not care about their customers. Meanwhile, when I checked my TalkTalk online account from outside to report this matter through their online system, but it seems TalkTalk had already shut my TalkTalk online account. Seems weird. Maybe to avoid any messages from me through the online system. Hence, decided to leave TalkTalk. Today, I rang TalkTalk to request for cancellation and they brought up the termination charges, which I felt upsetting. How harassing and insulting, are they? Also, they haven’t responded to me clearly how I will be compensated for my discomfort and inconvenience due to the lack of their service. Anyway, I served TalkTalk the notice to cancel their service. Waiting for their letter. Looking for a better service from a better broadband and telephone provider. Any advice?

There are no words. There are no words to describe how unimaginably **** Talk Talk are. Just don't got here.
I have wasted about 6 hours of my life trying to get a simple straight answer from customer services. No one has a clue what they're doing. FINALLY manage to cancel our broadband after HOURS of 'can you please tell us why you want to leave', switch to SKY, get an email 20 mins later ''Thank you for deciding to stay with Talk Talk - we have received a notification from another provider that you wish to stop your cancellation''. Firstly, no one and no provider should be able to make changes to my account without my permission seeing as I am the account holder and secondly, rang Sky and they said that was complete rubbish, they have no authority to make changes and that its sounds like Talk Talk is having a last attempt at rinsing us. Turns out to be true, rang Talk Talk they are now refusing to continue the current cancellation and can only 'start a new one' with 30 days notice, meaning of course we are liable to pay for another month of the joke of a connection they call broadband. Oh and would like to charge a £150 early cancellation fee, which was waived in the first cancellation attempt due to us being in the 'cooling off period', but now as we are cancelling past 20 days of our go live date we are liable to pay. My recommendation, pay the extra £3 a month for Sky and steer well clear of Talk Talk.

The worst broadband and the customer service I have ever experienced. It took 4 months and more hours than I would like to remember on phonecalls with them to cancel the service after I had moved out of the property. This was because they kept losing the transfer of ownership forms we sent and then didn't seem to understand that the cancellation request was in fact a cancellation request.

In the centre of a city where we are paying extra for ultra fast broadband with fibre optics the internet connection is worse than our previous house in the middle of the country. Quite often I have been unable to lead a YouTube video or a google search and watching a film over the internet is just a nightmare. I am constantly frustrated with the inability for it not working. I THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROVIDER.

Absolutely disgusting. I don't have words to describe the company. Not going into details but I have never in my life had to deal with such a bad service. I never expect a lot and happy person with anything but this company is going beyond disgusting.

Do not touch Talk Talk. I moved house in November, they tried to get an engineer out to connect me who couldmy do it. They arranged another visit for two weeks later, I took a day off work and waited for the engineer who never turned up, I then get a call from talk talk asking why I missed appointment. I told them I didn't, they then said the next date is two weeks time. All through the process I paying loads of money calling them with no one helping and many people putting the phone down on me. I finally get it fixed, I was going to officially complain but they make it such a task couldn't be bothered. Two mothers later I think it's all sorted I am charged for a miss callout which is £50. I call them to explain hoping they would have notes, told by a manger that there is nothing that they can do but will make a complaint in my behalf.

Absolute joke. The worst customer service I've ever received and if I leave them I would.

Frankly they deserve no stars for any part of their service. Two major security breaches because they put profit over investing in security systems, now endless internet breakdowns. They are good at collecting the monthly fee and writign spurious 'we're so sorry' letters to customers. Avoid at all costs! They will ruin your life!

Terrible experience with Talk Talk. Go elsewhere if you want to have a good service. Main issue was slow internet speed.
Can't wait for my contact to end.

Customer service is very poor. It's easier to swim the channel than leave them (over 2 hrs online and still no cancellation). Complaints procedure is unbelievably long-winded and a complete waste of time.
