I already had homephone with the PO which worked fine. I have a new Panasonic Smart TV and thought it would make sense to set it up so I can watch Netflix. The order went through, and a small flimsy router was sent through. To cut a long story short, it didn't work. The TV connected to the router fine, but the router didn't have the power to do anything further. The instructions didn't include Smart TV (only laptop, mobile, etc) so I assume it was never intended for it. I also discovered that the router needs to be near the TV - it was in the hall, but even with the door open there was still no signal. One instinctively knows when something isn't going to work and after three days I gave up. 10 phone calls later I finally managed to find someone intelligent at the PO cancelled the broadband on the basis that I was mis-sold it and that I had paid for something that could not be used, and that it was not fit for purpose. I believe what the PO offers is not suitable for Smart TV's and it should be explained at point of purchase. I also should have read the reviews prior to receiving the router - I had two weeks to do this, but didn't think I would have to, as I trust the PO. Not so much now, I have to say. Very disappointing.

I wish i had read these reviews before i jumped head first into a contract with this broadband provider. I get less than half of the promised internet speed they said i would receive. Most nights its only just capable of checking emails, if i want to steam a movie then i have more joy hot-spotting my mobile phone as the home broadband cant even load the initial intro.

the fact that your right to cancel the service if you are not happy expires the day before you go live is an absolute joke. This does not allow you to even see or use the internet to make an informed decision on their product.

i have now been in a three week post office battle and i feel this could go on much longer as i refuse to pay £200 to get out the contract when i falsely sold it in the first place.

    AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Only had broadband two weeks and it's absolutely non existent. Was told when I switched from BT that the speed would be the same. Approx 6.5-7mb. It was nowhere near. Most of the time it was 0.75 or lower. These people make promises and fail to keep them. I was lucky in that I was able to opt out. At a cost of £120 though!!
I have now gone back to BT and have infinity. It's going live next week. This is an experience that I would rather forget.
I advise people to seriously consider the Post Office when choosing Broadband. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Truly awful. Rarely do we get 1 Mb/s - just tested here as .75 Megabits and then 0.53 Megabits. They are a Fraudband Provider. Email often can't be received, online banking hangs. Can't call it a joke as we're stuck with them till the contract runs out. Hah, How can it be a contract when they aren't providing what was agreed?

Updating of service should happen during out of normal working hours e.g. after midnight.
Updates tend occur during daytime working hours and can last the entire day - no notice is given prior to updating. This is extremely annoying and most inconvenient, as the email service etc. is out of reach during these periods of updating.
I have tried to contact Customer Services to establish how long before there is access to the service, but only a recorded message advising that the system is being updated is available to the customer - that adds to the frustration.

I really think reviews on this site should only be comparative, i.e. relative to the competition.

We used BT for 2 years with average but acceptable speeds (ranges from 15-35 mb/s with hardly any drop outs). But their bills went from about £25 a month to £40 so I switched to P.O. which is costing me £20 a month. I was told when I did this (by both BT and P.O. actually) that they all use the same line unless you pay for fiber optic so there should be no difference in service. I can say after 2 months use this is completely accurate. My broadband speeds have not been affected at all.

In addition to this, P.O. sent me out a router and switched me over on the date they said they would, without me having to do anything after the initial phone call. It was incredibly easy, one month my bill was from BT the next it was from P.O. And the online account BT gave me works perfectly as well, for changing settings and such.

This is why I have given them 5 stars for everything. As a service provider you can only work with the tools available, people like the Post Office aren't generating broadband in a factory, they are just connecting us to the line. Relative to the area that I live in, P.O. are doing a great job for me and I am super glad I changed over.

Stay away from this and spare yourself from a lot of frustration. Internet is completely unpredictable and don't even bother contacting customer service they're no use. Worst internet provider we have ever used and we've tried a few.

This possibly the worst company I have dealt with. I thought that the post office with its history in communications would be a good choice. Their customer service is non existent and they take ages to answer queries. There on line billing cannot be viewed on an iPad as it needs adobe flash
Avoid this company as they won't be in business for long

Whatever you do avoid these idiots. Bad service all round. I had to call an engineer four times then they tried to charge me £168 for replacing a wire which was outside my property and not my liability. To make matters worse, their phone operators don't know what they are doing and couldn't care less.

In the end i bought myself out at a big cost.please di not use the post office, they are a one big waste of time.

DO NOT LET THE CHEAP PRICE OF BROADBAND INFLUENCE YOU ! What a grave mistake getting P.O. Broadband, the unreliable and poor speeds are NOT acceptable, I ordered P.O. Broadband on the 12th and received router etc on the 26th, phoned and complained of the speed etc from the very 1st day, only to be told I only have a 12 days to cancel, tried to explain I if the broadband was up and running on the 12th it would of been canceled immediately as it is not fit for the purpose (DO NOT GET ANY SPEED) but as 12 days have lapsed since I ordered it I am not in my rights to cancel etc. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.

I joined POBroadband in 2012. The speeds are not good but then I accept that I live very rural. The first router was crap with terrible wifi. I complained that I was getting a better wifi signal from my neighbours routers than the one they supplied. They changed the channel and I no longer had the problem from other routers but wifi was still crap so I had another moan and paid £30 for a more powerful router. This was marginally better but not great. I noticed that when I returned from a weeks holiday the service was intermittent so I rang again and they suggest I see a different IP address than the router. This turned out to be less secure on WPa and not WPA2 so my iPad showed a security error. Back on the phone and they blame the iPad update. So I tried to ngo into the router and change the security but the password had been deactivated. Then the prices went up this Sept for users nand at the same time I took a holiday and came back once again to an intermittent service. So I decide to jack them in after nearly four years. All I can say in their support is that the staff I spoke to were very helpful but were never really able to get to th ebottom of th crap wifi and intermittent service. I think that the PO are not moving forward with their service, not looking at its shortfalls and improving and certainly not providing decent routers. I have move to Sky on 7/11/2016 with fingers crossed for a better service. Customer care so far has b en encouraging.

My mum wanted cheaper wifi and to save money so bought this one - constantly makes me frustrated as I cannot do homework effectively from home with awful connectivity. (Have been waiting to send a snapchat for 20 mins, will play no videos without buffering etc) - I am 16 and would rather her spend my pocket money on decent wifi rather than this, and usually resort to using 3G or 4G at home rather than out and about

Please only get this if you have deep seated internal anger and you feel like you need to have a viable reason for smashing something in your immediate vicinity. Only good for posting letters.

Can't wait to get out of it

Really, anyone thinking of using this company should think again because they are appalling. I have just been forced to leave them. Our phone and broadband has been going down for weeks on end, again and again. The fault is always with them and never in our home. They have tried to charge me £120 for a non-existent engineer call, for a fault they corrected (yet again) in their exchange or wherever. Their speeds are hopelessly slow. The phone keeps fading. You cannot even talk to their customer services on a clear line. They are rude and abusive. They do not respond to complaints. They could not apply called display nor other phone features such as witheld number barring. They charged for it for half a year, but couldn't apply it! And refused to refund the wasted costs. Frankly, this is a company that just cannot run itself. They haven't even given me an impasse letter to pass on to Offcom, because something as simple as this is beyond them. They never reply to letters. A useless company that should be avoided at all costs. Very expensive once you get to the truth of their costs.

Phoned up to cancel my mum’s account after she had been in hospital for 5 months following a brain cancer operation.
Supervisor I spoke to - "Shaun Brooks" wouldn’t make any changes to the £37 a month account (that hasnt been used for 5 months) until he spoke to a cancer doctor at the hospital.

Not a bad service the only thing that let's this company down is the fact that they harass you for payment even if it's a day late, they also seem to cut me off the day I pay my bill, but yet when I ring to ask when I'm being put back on again they made me wait for two weeks before my services where even put back on and still demanded payment for the weeks that I had no phone line and Internet. The staff on the phone lines are rude and not helpful at all. The broadband keeps cutting off and the speed of the Internet get slower but when I ring up I get told that it's a wiring problem and that it will sort it's self out when it doesn't. The only good thing about the post office is affordable

Worst internet I've ever had. Never had any problems with previous services. Only changed to Post Office due to price. Wifi is absolute rubbish. Keep losing connection on my smartphone. Internet takes a long time to actually work on PC (about 10 minutes). Wifi doesn't work on laptop at all (my wifi works perfectly fine elsewhere, such as at Premier Inn hotels, so the problem is most certainly not my laptop!). Customer service absolutely useless - trying to blame my computer, which was working perfectly fine up until the time we switched to Post Office broadband. I have just purchased an amazon fire tv stick and have now reached the end of my tether as it's constantly buffering/dropping connection meaning I cannot watch tv programmes and films smoothly. Tried watching a tv show on catch up this morning and it was buffering every 5 seconds. I have just signed up to a new broadband provider and am looking forward to being switched over in 2 weeks time. Avoid the post office at all costs!

Broadband was due to start last Wednesday. Did not even receive the router until the Friday (after being disconnected from our old provider on Wednesday in anticipation of changeover) and even this required multiple phonecards escalated up the call chain... just for basic start up necessities! Then once the router arrived it was another day until it could even access the Internet, at a whopping 0.88mb download speed. One week on, and we average less than 1mb download - tonight it is 0.55mb and basically unusable.

Awful broadband, awful customer service, DO NOT BUY POST OFFICE BROADBAND.

Only transferred to post office on 11th October and already I wish I'd stayed with BT. Only had internet for about 5 or 6 hours in that time. Excuse after excuse from rude technical supporters. Refused to let me cancel my verbal contract unless I paid 3 months charges. Said they would send a technician to try to fix the fault but the call out fee would be £144 ! It's working at the moment but if it goes off again I'll ring Ofcom. Sick of dealing with the so called customer service team, they're a joke

Horrendous in every way..I first tried to cancel my contract prior to my service going live. I did leave it till the last minute but nevertheless I should have been able to due to their T's and C's. They told me their T's and C's had changed!!!..Although their literature I had in my hand, had NOT been changed..They would not budge and the service went live. 2 months ago I received notification that my Bill was about to increase !!...BT warned me this would happen. They draw you in to a "good value" 18 month package and then increase the cost after 4 to 6 months....I have Not had a working landline since Sunday 16th October.....Despite sending an email daily.I did not hear back from P>Office until Wednesday 19th Oct....They told me it was an external fault and they would report it to BT... It is now 25th Oct and I still dont have a working land line....I sent an e mail yesterday and today and still no response...offer of compensation or explanation. Utterly Useless....
The Broadband has been painfully slow and my modem needs rebooting about 8 times daily.
DO NOT under any circumstances use the Post Office as a service provider...They are expensive and Customer Service is Non existent ....Stick with the Devil you know...

This is a company no self respecting person should use. We switched to them and had nothing but periods of endless weeks with no phone and no broadband. This happened again and again. The fault was always in their exchange. Because we use medical alert systems it was dangerous to us, and brought down our entire medical alarm systems. This incurred extra carer costs. We never got an apology, an explanation, or a refund. Not a single apology. Then, to cap it, it failed yet again. Once again they solved the problem in the exchange. But this time they billed us for £120 for fixing their fault, in their exchange. Their justification for this outrage is that their engineer didn't come in the house. You cannot sort anything out with them on the phone, you get fobbed off, and you get hostile letters. They are a company you cannot get the right side of. Really, do not use. Prospective customers beware! I could go on and list the stupid mistakes they made when putting the phone in, the weeks trying to set it up and get it working, that they duplicated the modem box and neither worked, the fact they didn't know what an ex directory number was and couldn't apply it for months, couldn't apply caller display for months, even though we paid for it, (and of course no refund!) but I think you get the idea. We will be leaving this appallingly amateurish outfit ASAP.

Although broadband speed is Ok in the morning and early afternoon, it is abysmal from 5pm onwards. So no catch up TV in the evenings, and limited web browsing then. Therefore, not at all suitable to working people.

been with the post office for a while now overall not a totally bad service but there unlimited broadband package is not unlimited at all it is limited to 100gb and if you go over that they will restrict you speeds and charge you extra call centre staff could be better trained they do not seem to have a clue on how to fix faults once the internet kept dropping out and the member of staff i spoke to was changing the wifi channel even though there was a red light on there router would not recommend as my internet speeds are the lowest in my area and i was told by the bt engineer that they rent talk talks lines so....

You can imagine my experience with PostOffice broadband that I started my service on 13/09 and I have cancelled it today. Postoffice customer service is the worst service in my life so far. Thanks for BT's buy out contract option, I will not have pay for termination charge.

When I tried to buy broadband from Postoffice, I got messsage that I need to call to buy it. When I spoke to them, provided all the information, however received no text, no email nothing afterwards confirming about my order. So after 15 days I decided to call them to find out. So Customer service said they were waiting for some information from me in order to complete order. That amazed me that no one contacted me, and they were waiting for information. So finally they said order gone through and gave me start date. When asked for email confirmation, customer service said they send only in post (couldn't believe that it is 2016).
So finally Broadband start date arrived, however broadband didn't start. So call again customer service from office. Customer service agent kept asking me to provide their reference number or phone number, which I was carrying with me. I told him to ask me data protection question, and for my disbelieve agent refused to do. He said you need to provide ref number from letter.
So I checked the letter at home and called again. They said it could go live upto midnight. I thought worst is over, as I dont have to call them again as my broadband will work fine. But I need to change my property so had to call again. This time they took the details and gave me go live date for new property 26/10. So I called them today to find out the progress, and as I suspected, go live date was changed to 3rd Nov. Asked them why I wasn't informed, so agent said PO tried calling few times, when I asked them what contact number you were using. Agent said that they tried calling on landline (which I told the agents in very start of the my order that I do not use landline, I prefer only mobile. They had my email still they didn't bother to contact. At this point I told him that it is one of the most incompetent company I had o deal with, to which agent said I was being rude and insulting to them and he will disconnect my call. I asked to apeak to manager or supervisor and he just disconnected the call saying "No one is here to talk to you".
There is lot more happened in between with their customer service, which I can go on and on.
So now I decided, enough is enough and cancelled it.
You dont have to suffer with postoffice, you can cancel it and Sky or BT will pay for the termination charge.

6 months now with Post Office & regular broadband speed tests show o.3 to 0.8 at best after many phone calls, engineer visits & promises to investigate no improvement. Considering taking out new provider & fighting P.Office to terminate contract. As a small business the service is unusable - most days can`t even access email.

Switched from BT hoping to save money. Paid for 5 months average speed 0.5mps. After hours on the phone they agreed they had no idea what was wrong and released me but insisting I pay them £23. Overall I paid them £75 and had no broadband for 5 months. So they deliver no broadband and claim I had access to the line so should pay, despite me only having called them RIP OFF POST OFFICE. GOOD BYE

Without doubt the worst provider we have ever dealt with. We are now in the process of taking a case against them through the ombusman. It took over 50 days before we were connected to the service and when we finally got connected it was utterly useless. We thought they would be better then BT who were terrible but we were wrong they are even worst if that is possible. Avoid at all costs.

They disconnected and changed our landline phone number four times. I am born and bred in London and never had such a rubbish service from any where in my life.
