Starting out, sky broadband and connection was excellent. This was 1 year ago. Im a heavy user of broadband relying on it for work as well as domestic use. Working in the IT industry I know my stuff technically and the last month or so has been unbearable. Intermittent loss of network, severe speed fluctuation and general slowness for their unlimited dsl connection. Called tech support, ran through the usual, very helpful at this stage to help and thats where it ended. They sent out a sky "engineer". Didn't have a clue what he was on about and was constantly on the phone to someone else asking advice. He left the phone on speaker at one point to which the other "engineer" said "Well the connection hasn't dropped for a few days just plug it all back together and leave it to see how it goes". At this point he had tried his test router with same issues as I was getting and tried the phone line. Speed still dropping below 1mbps but this was normal apparently as he was submitting a survey I had filled out while connected to my Wi-Fi. It was at this point I knew I was never going to get anywhere with them and needed to leave. Virgin media - better deals, speed and support by miles (at this point in time) don't waste your time or money on this as it honestly isn't worth it. Virgin are voted the best for a reason. Only wish they had provided fibre in my location earlier so I wouldn't of had to put up with this for so long

Constant battle to keep any 'working' broadband speed. It magically improves after complaining, only to revert to the pitiful 0.3Mbps download after a short while. Plenty of rhetoric from Sky with no substance.

Me and my family have been using Sky Broadband for a few years now and it didnt give us as many problems as it does now. For the past 6 months (I believe) its been a torturous experience. The broadband turns off whenever it feels like and it happens every 5 minutes now, before it was every few hours it is unbelievably unrealiable. We have been back and forth with the Sky team countless times, I have lost count and there has not been any progress. Same thing, different day. We have been loyal to Sky as it was good to us for the first few years but now I am just getting completely frustrated. The amount of times I've gone over my phone internet data because I couldn't use the wifi at home is ridiculous. What are we paying for? The customer service team have been a pain in the ass to be quite frank. You'd think we would receive some form of compensation for the lengthy inconvenience the crappy service has caused us right? Nope we got nothing of the sort. I think we have reached the point of cancelling the contract, sort it out Sky you've just lost a valuable customer.

Connection speed can actually be pretty good when the wifi is working. Unfortunately the Sky Q routers are very unreliable when it comes to wifi and the connection regularly drops or slows down to a crawl.
I have had two replacement routers so far and both display the same problem (the first one failed completely - the one I have now seems to be heading in the same direction)

It was fine until there was an issue, then it all became to much bother for them after the fix attempt failed. I had a sky call person put the phone down on me because he I told him his system was not accurately depicting my broad band speed, he was out by 10Bbsec.

So decided I needed broadband and contacted Sky mid February and signed up for their sky q broadband and television package. Satellite installed no problem ( although took two visits and had to cut down five trees in the back garden) but nonetheless resolved in a timely manner and up and running within three weeks. Broadband however has taken four engineer visits between sky and open reach, 11 weeks and over 10 calls sitting on hold to sky and still no broadband. The last engineer left saying the phone line is up and running four weeks ago, the line does exist as my sky id can be found when searching wifi connections. Sky are saying that they are waiting for a confirmation on open reach in order to activate my service after four weeks of calling and being told that my confirmation is stuck on the open reach system I asked what I need to do for someone to take my complaint seriously and they said all I can do is sit on the waiting list that I am already on. I asked if I can make a complaint to open reach directly which I was told I could but when you go on open reach website it simply tells you to contact your service provider. I cannot believe that there is no way that such a large company cannot resolve an issue so simple. Sky have now kindly taken to sending me a weekly automated text message for the past four weeks to inform me that there is a problem with my service and they are looking into it. There is no customer service interest they are happy to leave you to make phone calls and sit on hold to relay the whole story to their team, only to be passed to another department to retell the whole story again only then to tell you nothing can be done. I must have wasted in excess of seven hours sitting on the phone to sky over these issues. So I am now paying for a television package with only some functions working because not all the functions work without broadband. Totally fed up with the whole process and so disappointed that a company this renowned has no interest in resolving their customer issues.

We have reported a fuzzy phone line for some time now - Sky can't help. Our line went down altogether last week - Sky can't help. This means we have been without land line and broadband, which is extremely inconvenient to say the least. I guess Sky are OK (at best) if things work but in my experience they are useless should any fault or problem occur. There must be nicer companies to give your money to!

If i could give a no star rating i would. We have been waiting 5 weeks and 2 days now for our broadband to be installed. We originally signed up on the 30/08/2018 and to this day are still waiting for broadband and phone. I was told today i would get the final update, instead they have said they cant update us now until Monday. Bt have been very helpful and can get here in 2 weeks. We have had word for word the same update since day 1. Very unhelpful and wouldn't recommend their services to anybody. I have written a formal complaint and will be contacting the ombudsman service if i dont get an answer by the end of today when i call them. Bad company.

    ***AVOID***
Me and my partner moved flat, while been in all the chaos of moving we decided to pick an internet company ASAP. We saw this offer from SKY where you get a contract of 12 month with a £100 voucher from M&S, and it was really cheap.

The HUB took over 2 weeks to arrive, we rang the company and they said it was on a warehouse, that would take longer. When the HUB arrived, I pluged it, without realising that there is a date on which your internet becames available (I thought it'd be available straight away). Then I rang the company again, they didnt keep me on the phone for too long and the person I talked to it was very plesent and helpful. I asked if they could bring the date forwards, as i needed internet right away. they told me they couldn't as an engineer had to come and instal the line and bla bla... however the previous tenant had SKY broadband, so I didnt see the point of anyone coming. this happened on the 3rd of September I didnt get internet until the 8th.
Also, I tried to contact them on FB, however they were useless, they couldnt help us and I am pretty sure they copy and paste the answer they gave us.
Now I am about to cancel my contract, my internet spreed is very slow, it keeps going down and in some of my devices doesn't even work, if it does is really slow. There are times when internet works just fine and then is most of the time when its so slow I have to use my own mobile data.
I didnt research this company before getting my contract, which I should have done. Please AVOID this company!!!!!

New customer but have just cancelled. Have waited over 5 weeks to have WiFi installed and it’s STILL not activated. My patience has just run out so have switched to another provider. Customer service is rubbish! I have made constant phone calls to Sky but they keep making excuses for not activating the WiFi ie. blaming other departments. Don’t choose this provider as Sky are useless in my opinion.

The level of customer service is just appalling. First - on the website you actually get the impression you can manage or cancel package on line. This is not true. The best you will get on line is yet another agent (talking to number 4 already) who will do everything to get you worse deal. I was actually offerred broadband for nearly 40 for the package that on the same day was for 25 (that already says it all). My number 4 agent is currently arguing with me whether or not I will get satisfactory service with nowtv. I have spend last 1hr 45 minutes asking lady every 10 mins (basically after each of valuable points she made) to just cancel and I am on my wits end.
To add to this when you phone them they will first take you through all automated security questions to tell you after 10 mins that they, in fact are unavailable.
The lady said she will actually process my cancellation but of course there are other offers they currently have. Which mobile network I am with, she is asking. 1 hour 50 mins at the moment

After 2 years with Sky I moved to another provider. The internet was not any better than the cheaper providers'. Connection usually dropped at 8pm and took 5-10min to recover, speed was very slow, streaming series (Netflix, Amazon, BBC) was never good quality, often stopping for loading.
Moved to another provider, all confirmed and set 2 weeks before last payment. It didn't stop Sky to prepare the bill for next month and they even took the money from my account 2 weeks after I left them. I called them straight away, they promised a refund but said that it could not be processed until the 12th May (another 2 weeks later). Of course the refund never went through so I waited for the day when they normally take the monthly payment. That day also passed and today they sent an email saying that they owe me almost £40 which will be transferred to my account in the next 10 days. Overall they took my money and failed to give it back for two months. Disgusting, they never even apologized.

Awful customer service. About 2 months into a 12 month contract they increased my monthly charges by £5. When I said I wanted to cancel they wouldn't let me cancel my TV subscription (I had signed up to a package deal). Took a further three weeks and over an hour on the phone to cancel everything.

To top it off as well, the on demand service on the sky box only works about 50% of the time with sky internet.

This comoany is misselling broadband. We were promised guaranteed speeds of 470. We were promised they would monitor it for 14 days and rectify and issues which strangely is the cooling off period. Now on day 15 and at best we get 70 usually far less. They have done nothing apparantly they only have 20 people to monitor everyones broadband so we were lied to. Agents fob you off and managers dont talk to customers.

very bad service, when we signed up no engineers came by to connect it and check everything was working properly and of course it wasn't. Can't watch youtube or netflix without it buffering endlessly. Just a useless service.TY programmes a waste of time watching, I pay £60 p.m. so I'm sure as hell not going to pay to upgrade.

Absolutely awful. A lot of the time, I have to resort to using the 4G on my phone in order to actually get decent internet. Actually feel like I've gone back in time 10 years since adopting the services of Sky, appalling speed and suffers multiple outages per day.
As a student, I can't wait to get home to use proper internet by a decent service provider (i.e. Virgin).

Our Sky internet is absolute crap.
It harks back to the days of dial up.
We have to reboot the router at least four or five times a day. It is so slow, we can not watch anything on Youtube. Our max download speed is 0.1mb. The whole deal is rubbish. I shall be going elsewhere when I get the time to switch. Sky? Don't give them the time of day.

So I have been back and forth with sky for quite some time now. I have been a loyal customer of 3 years and never had any issues. I still don’t with my broadband it is my call lines which I have a issue with. I have parents who are not British born and even though I have told them several times the timings to use the phone so there are no additional charges on the bill but they don’t seem to understand it. I contacted sky to ask for them to add a bar/band of some sort on the phone lines to be used only during the times which is stated in the contact and to support me a little as my bills for sky have been rocketing and nobody could help. I asked to cancel my subscription for my landline and was told legally I can’t as my contract states 18 months and can’t cancel till then. I honestly wish I read the T&C. Future customers keep away from sky they do not support customers and trap them into a long term contract! Once my contract end I will not be returning to sky and will advise anyone I come across to stay clear.

Sky broadband has been absolutely terrible. I live in a small end terraced house which has no solid walls inside, just plasterboard walls so there is no excuse why I shouldn't get WiFi in all my rooms but for years I've struggled to get WiFi to work in all my rooms. The router could never reach my Ring doorbell even though it was literally on the other side of the wall! Over the years I've had engineers out, replacement routers, boosters sent out but I still couldn't get it to work properly. I had to resort to hard wiring my TV's to my router which looked ridiculous having wires running around my house when technology is supposed to be wireless. Even though it didn't ever work Sky still continued to charge me and they even charged me a cancellation fee so I could move to EE which now works perfectly! My advice to anyone thinking of getting Sky broadband is to stay well clear of Sky because it honestly doesn't work but they will still take your money!! Sign up to EE you will not be disappointed. I have strong WiFi in every room and my Ring doorbell finally works! Good ridence Sky!!!!

When first joining sky customer service appeared fine and the quality products were ok...although broadband has always been slow even though bt confirmed we should be getting very fast broadband. Recently we have had appalling customer service and have been spoken to rudely on the phone. As we are stuck in a contract we will stick it out till the end then will definitely be taking our custom somewhere else. Do not recommend.

We recently moved to Sky as there was an offer with Sky through moneysavingexpert which was for an amazing price. Our pervious supplier (EE) has been slow for a while, so we were looking to change.

When the Sky broadband was activated it was still slow. We called their technical support, and they genuinely couldn't have been better. They instantly carried out a line test (EE) only played with the broadband channels.

They arranged for Openreach to come out to our cabinet. Open reach then identified an issue at our house. Sky have gone above and beyond to help us facilitate Openreach visits.

Their support staff call centre appears to be UK based and the staff actually appear to be technical staff as opposed to simply call centre staff.

I have been with Virgin for a number of years. Fibre optic broadband was excellent and the basic TV package met our needs. However like most companies the deal ran out and I meant to look for a cheaper provider. Telephone call from Sky’s sales team with an offer of £35 per month for unlimited broadband, around £300+ tv channel and unlimited landline calls for up to 1 hour. Broadband mediocre, definitely not as good as virgin. The Sky salesman said it would easily match Virgin if not it would be better. Lie number 1and some of the channels I got with virgin which I expected to be included such as 4hd are not. Spoke to customer services and I’m still waiting for a call back 4 days later and to top it off Sky have increased the prices before I’ve even had a bill at £35. So lie number 2. If I am sold a deal at £35 for 18 months that’s what I expect. Sale under false promises of a service Sky can not deliver. DONT BOTHER GOING WITH SKY. Needless to say I will be moving to another provider as soon as I am able to. When I did complain the rep said he’d call me back but never did. Lie number 3.

I suspect sky broadband to be very overloaded with insufficient bandwidth. I have a solid 7mbit connection to exchange. However the real speed over that link is severely throttled at most times of day. Most the time on a speed test I see barely 1mbit most of time it is 0.2mbits. Video content is unusable emails with larger attachments hang for ages. Sky help desk are only concerned with the connection speed of router they simply don't comprehend the issue or don't want to know. I work in IT support and have worked in telecoms so my wiring and setup are fine. I wouldn't recommend sky at all. I had plusnet at previous address and found their service and support very good. The connection speed was half what I get now but I could achieve 10 times the download speed I get with this sky product and it was consistent. I am looking to go back to them soon.

Fine when it works but if for no reason the telephone line drops and several days later the internet disappears it becomes clear that 1) fixing of the problem is a problem in itself ( I'm waiting for a week now to have it fixed, 2) god forbid you forget the password of your account as madam in the customer services refused to even run a test.
All in all my first bad experience is the reliability but if you add unhelpful staff thus gets too much. I will leave pronto!

Our monthly bills are around £100. We experience signal problems and on our Sky app we get 9mb but with you it is nearer to 8mb. We were promised 10mb yet Sky has only sent BT engineers who say connection is good. We have requested compensation for the numerous times we have had no Internet and several occasions when we had no phone. If you could advise on how to speak to someone at Sky who doesn’t keep avoiding our issue instead of giving us answers we would appreciate it. Thank you

We signed up for sky fibre for 1 year and from the work go there was problems. First they sent us the wrong home hub that was set up for standard broadband so didn't work with our fibre connection, then they sent out an engineer to correct the problem, not by swapping the home hub but by switching our line to standard broadband (which we didn't want) and now we have endless trouble with the connection! Our download speed is so slow that it would normally be quicker to drive across town and buy a movie from the shelf than it would to download, all our devices our considerably slow even our smart phones and for any sort of device requiring high speed such as a PlayStation you might as well forget it because as soon as you start something the connection drops out and we have to reset the box.. Very unimpressed with a very poor quality product.

Q supposed to be a step forward? Rubbish. 10 steps back. If you have not changed yet stay where you are. Plus they tell you, you can go back to old equipment, but you have to stay with the new hub because they do not do the new one. Broadband drops whenever it wants with no reason. Speed is very slow. Stay with the old stuff do not be persuaded even if tit is free. Really not worth it.

Sometimes in life you make mistakes.
From day dot I have used broadband and TV packages in various countries and Sky is unique as it is the one that has managed to win the accolade of being the worst in both categories.

They provided a package that was less than promised.
    They then upped the costs.
And then they upped the cost again.
The TV package has never been able to provide catch-up or movies (despite numerous calls.
You cannot record more than one program (I should have checked that)if you want to watch another.
The broadband speed is akin to snail mail.
    It often drops out.

The mistake I made was switching from Virgin as I thought they were expensive and not very good on the service side.
As soon as the 12 months are up I will ditch Sky and go with a broadband supplier and just use free to air TV.

Sky are an absolute disgrace from the router they give you which has a range of about 3 meters to thesis fibre speed of a snail and that's being unfair to snails the speed regularly drops to Kbps and if you ring them it looks great for the money I've paid I feel completely ripped off
