I was on fibre broadband. The connection used to regularly drop to a few kB when I was supposed to be getting 35mb. The internet would drop off and loose connection most evenings. I found myself resetting the router most nights. Also they have the cheek to not inform you when your contract ends and the monthly bill increases by £12 per month. Tried to speak to them is a nightmare.

Do yourself a favour, avoid at all costs. Two words sums up my experience with talk talk

Talk Talk are the worst provider ever - if i could give them zero stars then i would do so. Broadband speed has been slower than carrier pigeon and very unreliable. Continually crashes and rubbish customer services - outstanding complaint that does not get resolved; letters of complaint not responded to; phone calls cut-off during complaints and service not provided as per contract. DO NOT USE

Absolutely diabolical from start to finish. Ordered broadband and didnt work . They sent an engineer out prior to going online to see if everthing was ok with the line and the modem hes said yes its fine . Saying this he never even took it out of the box to try it . 3 months on no refund of money paid for somethong i didnt use as i cancelled in 14 day cooling off . An now just get fobbed off by call centres thousands of miles away . Stay well clear .

If there was an option for no stars that would be my rating.
Broadband is utterly useless very slow! Contacted an agent who told me that I'd downgraded, not sure how when I'd just joined for broad band. Got billed a month earlier than was told, couldn't change payment day unless I paid two bills in Feb!! Even though the first bill was supposed to be march. Submitted a complaint, I only wanted to deal with it my email, but they've been ringing the landline, I don't have a land line phone and asked to be contacted via email Burt still no reply. Don't waste your time and money especially on the free broadband offer, I'm stuck with it for 18 month's but Im fighting that in my complaint!!

Moved my phone number and line to T/Talk Welcome Pack detailing speed and guaranteed minimum speed etc never sent or T C's. its lower than the minimum. complain, I switch they mail T&C's Welcome Pack, seize my phone number put into quarantine "You can't have it back" then its returned to T/Talk. Service people take calls, only give information displayed on screen even if its false. PC connected to router with cable, still slow, Tether to smart phone works fine, no buffering. T/Talk only quotes T&C's to user, won't own up to its own T&C failures. Nice way to obtain phone numbers and inflict pain having to update contacts with new phone number.

Used to be OK, but has got worse and worse. Dial-up was faster. Customer Service via the web-site is so frustrating and unreachable.
    Give talktalk a miss.

They do not even deserve a star, words cannot begin to describe what a cowboy company this is!

Internet is terrible, so slow and always cuts out. Try speaking to them about it and its useless, better off hitting your face with a pan.

When reporting the internet was down they told my pregnant partner to unscrew a plug socket ... UNSCREW A PLUG SOCKET! Its beggars belief this company are allowed to trade.

DO NOT USE!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Absolutely Awful.if i could leave zilch stars i would. One is too worthy. Dont know where to start but overall I have had the same issues as many others. Signed us up to the wrong deal, charging more than we asked. Raised a complaint . Broadband constantly dropped out and very slow like dial up days slow. Took the opportunity of a pay increase for the amazing service to leave, spent ages on chat as i didnt want to spend hours arguing why we wanted to leave, got offered a new price but as I didnt reply within one min ( and I mean one min) they ended the chat!!! So tried again, repeated no close my account about 20 times ( i have the printed transcripts to prove this ) got final bill, paid said final bill. Had no internet ( which is no worse than what we had) for a month waiting to change to sky and now recieved a normal monthly bill for Dec from talk talk !! Seriously stay away

Bit of a joke. overcharged us by £1600 in our first year so forced to stick with this terrible outfit while they paid us back. Installed broadband in our new offices a few days ago. it doesn't work and getting these losers to come and fix anything is a joke. Put in a dozen calls but for some reason talk Talk can't do the slightest thing right

After signing up to what i thought was a 12 month contract, we now find out it is an 18 month contract!! so the penalties are ridiculous

We have suffered multiple issues, broadband speeds of: 0.5 to 1.5 mbps the resonse all the time is: we have now done our checking process & it has now been fixed, ( 7 times) in 12 months, very poor quality, service, response times, communication & reply's to problems. Well.. Where do I start?

This company is SH*T!! And that's putting it nicely.
We moved house and asked for the broadband and phone line to be transferred... Since then, we have had no broadband AT ALL...nothing!
Pointless calling the company and speaking to the so called, customer service advisors, they sit there twiddling there thumbs telling you the problem will get sorted, has it? NO!!
No call back as PROMISED??!! ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME.
I will not waste another second of my time with this pathetic company, absolutely shocking!!!
Take my advise- if your thinking about joining this company - DONT!!!!!!!!

TalkTalk Business left me with no phone or broadband during my busiest period. I asked them to set me up with a temporary call divert to stop me from loosing business and they couldn’t even get that right. They eventually got it working after two weeks and when I put in a complaint the offer I got was this” Dear Robert,Thanks for your reply.
I would be happy to credit 2 weeks loss of service which would be £18.30.
Please let me know if you are happy for me to apply the credit and I will apply immediately before closure.”

Do not deal with TalkTalk Business they are an absolute joke!

Did they send me a mail that " you are sorry to see me leave" No they were not sorry? They absolutely wanted it and deliberately drove me to it. The customer service was appalling. An agent called Jesse was so rude.

Because I didn't want to go through the hassle of changing to another company when we moved house despite constant issues with the internet. I made up my mind on the spot when the customer service agent told me it is my fault that the router was sent to my old address even though I had processed my move to a different address about 10 days earlier. No apologies and was outrightly rude. And to cap it up, they wanted me to travel 30 miles almost an hour of driving, to my old address to get the router that was delivered to the old address through no fault of mine. After all this drama, that agent was very quick to let me know she could connect me to cancellation team if I want. They don't care. In as much as they get paid their salary, the customer can go to hell.
Worst customer service I ever had a contact with. I should have put a minus rating if anything like that existed.

As soon as I switched from BT to TalkTalk, I had problems with both speed and reliability. I couldn't access the router settings and combined with the other issues I diagnosed a faulty router. 'Customer service" has non-technical folk clearly reading from a manual as they keep putting you on hold whilst they read the step by step approach to diagnosing faults. Took 2 hrs and eventually agreed to send new router. Then discovered upload speed was very poor and my Livedrive cloud backup had real issues. Had to pay £5 extra per month for rest of contract to make it work. Since then had issues with devices not connecting to router (even wrong password error messages), plus poor wifi signal. Boosted it myself with powerline wifi adapters, but still issues. Very frustrating! Just coming to the end of my contract now, and can't wait to switch. Will never use TalkTalk again.

When you don't have better thing to do & want to waste 2 hours of your daily time , Chat or Call the Talk Talk support team. One of the Top rated worst customer service team i have ever experienced. The Sales team commit false assurance to customers & they route you in loop to customer support & then to Order management team for you to keep chasing them. Talk Talk CEO hope you are seeing these feedbacks ?. You call a support personal & they gonna keep you holding for couple of minutes & you are surprised to see a new person asking what can i do for you - phone goes quite suddenly you wait for 5 mins & disconnect ; call them back again ....loop...loop

Possibly the worst ever experience I have had in attempting to deal with a Broadband/Telephone/TV provider! I wanted to move from Virgin and TalkTalk seemed to offer an acceptable alternative. I duly signed up on their website. Due to a sudden death in my family I needed to postpone the proposed installation date. This is when I entered the ludicrous world of the farcically named TalkTalk, since it is nigh on impossible to talk to anyone in TalkTalk! I went online to search for contact details for Customer Service, the several online options did not list changing an installation date. I called the 'phone number and was requested by a pre-recorded message to enter my TalkTalk 'phone number into the keypad, but obviously I did not have a TT 'phone service yet. I searched and found 4 other TT numbers and had the same response. I gave up and decided to type the chat box on the TT website. What followed could hardly be believed. I had a 'conversation' during which I was asked for email address, date of birth and a number of other nonsensical details until He/She said that they did not recognise my email address even when I advised that I had confirmed my order which included my email address. I was on the verge of losing my sanity so I said that this is a waste of time, give me a 'phone number so I can speak directly to a Customer Service Person. HE GAVE ME THE SAME NUMBER I HAD STARTED WITH ON THIS MADNESS! I shut down, went for a coffee, and remembered, there was a telephone number on the TT website for their Sales Contact....immediately answered! I asked to be put through to their Customer Services, he questioned why and after my explanation eventually connected me. The person who answered was obviously reading from a script, he/she could barely speak English, and any question I posed was obviously off script. I got nowhere. From start to finish this had taken nearly 4 hours1 TalkTalk do not deserve to exist. I would recommend that if any reader wants to lose their sanity try to deal with TalkTalk!
p.s. I never did manage to change the installation date and when or if any TalkTalk people arrive they will be sent on their way.

I left sky to join talktalk as they were the only ones who had the option of fibre.
Before the changeover began i had problems, they started to take the line too soon and so my phone line was in limbo. I could not make outgoing calls and my sky broadband went to pieces. Ironically at the time i thought because i had handed my notice in with sky they had some how slowed my line right down, apologies for that to sky!
To be fair to talktalk i asked and got £60 compensation so my first two weeks worked out free.
Once the broadband was installed for the first few weeks it was really good but then all the problems started. Terrible reliability, slow speeds, high ping making gaming completely impossible. If i reset the router it might make a difference for a few minutes it might not.
I have complained to talktalk and they tell you no problem with the line or external fault and it is being rectified. Nothing changes.
Today i have subscribed back to sky, i know talk talk will want an early termination fee but i am willing to argue this one in court. Shocking service that just should not happen these days.
I don't need the fastest but i want reliability. I had it with sky, heading back and will never touch talk talk again

5 wks after signing to upgrade to fibre broadband at an extra cost the speeds are download 5 . Upload 7 . I have travelled the globe in 9 hrs of phone calls total so far and God knows how many texts . So internet speed is embarrassing, the landline phone is obsolete incoming and outgoing. Did not inform us about upgrading our mobiles before discontinuing that service . My mobile text is not working also my landline and insist on replying by text even though I put it on record my only contact is my mobile number to speak in person .as my text stopped mid conversing never to go again . The call handlers keep you on for an hour so they can claim their wages and then pass you onto the next handler for their hours pay . It's a bit like pyramid sales . Talktalk have not provided anywhere near the service I have paid for and so I shall insist the charges start when the service I have paid for start and not before as that is false advertising and breach of contract .ombudsman get ready.

Don’t get TalkTalk I’m suing from Monday due to them not returning my money from last year their customer service treats you like rubbish and the courts have said it’s criminal activity they are doing. If your looking for broadband then go to virgin and not TalkTalk as TalkTalk might not be around for long according to Ofcom

Having been with AOL for many years, I was only too pleased to sign up for a further 18 months, especially as they were offering a reduced rate for the same package. They even convinced me to change my direct debit from my debit card to my bank account to save a further couple of pounds. Only when i was asked to complete a TalkTalk survey did the doubts start. After one month, no problems. At the start of the second month, I suddenly found I had no telephone, no broadband, nothing. I was able to ring BT who offered to send out an engineer. Then the postman arrived, with a letter from AOL saying that I owed them £27. Strange I thought, surely I have a Direct Debit facility. I borrowed my neighbours laptop to check my e-mails, which included my last AOL statement. Sure enough it confirmed that I had a Direct Debit set up, and I need take no action to pay the £27 bill! When I rang them, they explained that they hadn't been able to set up the new Direct Debit in time for the payment date, and since the amount was overdue, they had shut me down. I certainly wouldn't recommend them, even though they have given me one month free service in compensation. I'ld rather have AOL back, thank you.

Truly awful customer service. The Indian call centre is dreadful - it's like talking to a robot as they go through their script, asking the same question several times. Their own engineer - when he finally came out - was unable to fix the problem. The BT Open Reach engineer eventually fixed it, but it took almost a month to get to that point. As soon as I'm convinced someone else is better, I will be switching ISP.

Go live date was supposed to be 11th, nothing came through the post by that date, didn't get notified at all. when called they said it will go live on the 24th and there is nothing they can do about it. Wouldn't moan but I work from home pretty often so the go live date was pretty crucial to me.

Also contract length was supposed to be 12 months and it's 12.

Think of dial up in the late 1990's then reduce that speed ten times. That's roughly talktalk's fibre speed. Words cannot describe how dreadful talktalk are. The only positive thing to come out of this was the giggles we've had reading the reviews. If only we'd read them before joining though. Tempted in by low prices and good sales staff we left a perfectly working yet more expensive provider. 2 months in we've made 7 phone calls, had 2 engineers out and still nothing works. We've paid well over what we were quoted and there seems to be regular payments vanishing from my account. Made the stupid mistake of tying ourselves in for 18 months on a service that doesn't work, costs more than advertised and causes more stress than worth. Do not ever use this company.

    Appalling company.
We have had ongoing problems for 6 months, with both our broadband and landline. We keep having a call divert added to our line, that we haven't asked for, and the call divert is to a number we have never heard of, so we haven't been getting vital calls. Broadband is useless. Slow speed and intermittent faults.
The worst is the TalkTalk staff. Philippine call centres with staff whose grasp of english is so poor that are not capable of understanding what you are saying. They lie repeatedly, make promise and appointments that are never kept. After months of problems I have finally got to speak to an English CEO manager, Linda Davidson, who was so unbelievably rude, patronising and aggressive, you would have thought I as in the wrong for daring to complain about all the issues we are having. Obviously a rising star in the TalkTalk Sales Prevention team. Like other reviewers,my advice is just save your time and effort and pay the extra few pounds, and AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.
One star is high a rating for this company.

I cancelled my broadband with you in feb 2013 as I was moving, you send me a letter confirming it. A few months later I noticed you were STILL taking monthly payments from me (I didn't have broadband in my new house)
I spoke to the chief executive Colin Mccleod and he apologised, he said there is NOTHING on the system to say I owe anything and refunded the payments they took after I moved. I changed my card details to make sure the payments would no longer be taken out. 2 years later I recieved a letter from a debt collector saying I owe £88 for march 2013 onwards (The period AFTER I had moved and talktalk had cancelled my broadband!!) I faught with them for a year showing them all the letters and proof that I was no longer in my old property and my broadband was cancelled. Another 2 years later I recieved another letter saying I still owe a debt! Obviously there is someone who was fraudulenly taking payments from my account who works at talktalk. This morning I have just recieved another letter from the debt collectors. I am at my wits end, I am NOT paying for something when talktalk are in the wrong for taking payments for my old address AFTER I moved, even sending me a letter confirming my account was closed with no outstanding payments!!
This company and it's staff are fraudulent and I would advise anyone to stay away from this disgrace of a company.

Compared too a lot of reveiws initial connection, speed and phone are working very well, on par with BT who continually keep bumping up their charges which is why I left them.
BUT TalkTalk customer service is chronic, for only simple enquires on two occasions I spent half an hour or more being sold things I didn't want which didn't make a lot of sense as I had only just joined them a few days earlier. Judging by the lack of comprehensible English and poor lines from the people I spoke too, I can only assume my enquiry was being shunted to various parts of the world. This is something that I recall years ago from a consumer TV programme possibly Watchdog or similar on which TalkTalk was slated for this very reason.
All I can say about this is "TALK TALK HASN'T LEARNT ANYTHING FROM THAT PROGRAMME.

Avoid this company like the plague
The worst scammers and schemers I’ve ever come across. Horrible customer services, very difficult to end the plan, even after the 18 month contract ended a year ago. Been over billing me all this time, blame the consumer, signed me up for all sorts of extras i never authorised or used as I didn’t know about them. The worst company I’ve ever come across, shocking in 2023. I truly hope the ombudsman investigate and reigns them in or closes them down.

I know the other reviewers have had bad experiences, so I guess I won the Broadband Lottery!

Got TT about a year ago, and yes there were teething problems... Arguments as to which end of the line the fault was one, promised a new router which never came etc, but since then the speed and quality has been fine.

We have just moved from one end of the country to another and we're expecting hell to move the account, but half an hour on the phone and it was sorted "just plug in your router and you will be connected".

As incredulous as I was at this, when I plugged in the router in the new house and switched it on, all our devices connected straight away no problems.

Now, we have never needed to switch from TT, complain about a service, change DD date etc, so I can't comment on that customer service angle, but our journey with them has been surprisingly smooth.

    Well

been with talktalk in our church office and it chugged along pretty unspectacularly, but it worked - that is until we finally had to get a new photocopier! The engineer said our router was so old it would not network properly so after many attempts to change the name on the account (as it was set up by a previous person years ago) and threats to leave we finally got sent a new router.

And that's when the real problems began.

The green connection light is red more often than it is green and even when it is green the service drops out before e-mails can arrive and don't even bother trying to use the internet! resetting the router sometimes gets us some e-mails through, but we have wasted literally days of time on the phone either waiting for or speaking to engineers/service staff. One finds a problem, transfers us to another department who then says there is no problem. well we're done. The office cannot function like this - the problem is it seems most companies seem to struggle as soon as there is any fault if you read the reviews, so its just trying to find the right company to switch to for phone/broadband who will fix issues without hours wasted and without breaking the bank..

So disappointed and frustrated with the appalling level of service, poor communication, and slow broadband speeds. I have wasted so much time and money trying to get things resolved without success. Please don't choose Talktalk, choose better!
